Hello friends, family, Game and Watch mains, and others. Welcome to a Draco M certified blog. I’ll tell you right now that I royally fucking hate Ultimate and everything about it but I’ll still make this blog type thing. I found out about some of this stuff in mid 2019 but didn’t care enough to look back then, and now I actually found some new stuff so that’s cool. (I’m sure as hell the MK Discord knows this stuff inside out so let’s just pretend I found it)

Roll film.

Meta Knight’s Forward Air

Hello friends, family, Game and Watch mains, and others. Welcome to a Draco M

The info here is Ultimate Frame Data so thanks to them for that.

The entire move is actually pretty bad, Fair is debatably Meta Knight’s worse aerial in fact. So why am I blogging about some dogshit move? Cause it’s funny. And landing before the final hit comes out is kinda busted. Hit 1 of Forward Air sends at a great angle has low enough knockback growth to combo into a lot of options; Nair, Up Tilt, or another Fair for example. But there are two bigass conversions MK can make off this hit 1 of forward air.

With this technology, you can port Smash 4 right onto your Switch. The first hit of forward air can true combo into up air at certain percents, and that up air combos into up air into up air and you die. At low percents, the initial up air is guaranteed but- ah fuck the pastries are burning in the oven um intermission time

Look at these two beautiful creatures interacting in their natural environment. Kirby accused Meta Knight of sending his signature Halberd Havoc :tm: missiles to Iran to provoke the third World War and Meta Knight proceeds to beat Kirby up for the little bitchboy he is.

Meta Knight uses his signature “Ladder yo ass” technique to beat the living shit out of Kirby most effectively. Compared to Smash 4, this sacred technique is a lot harder to start because of the increase in knockback growth and decrease in base knockback of MK’s dash attack in Ultimate. Because of this, the window where both dash attack -> up air and up air -> up air are true is a lot smaller. The window changes from character to character based on weight, fall speed, animations, and model sizes; it’s easier to ladder heavies and midweights but tougher to string up airs on lightweights. Floaty characters get annihilated by them though, and fastfallers make Meta Knight’s life hell.

Looks like that’s all the time we’ve got folks! Tune in next week to learn about the complex science of wobbling and find out what Armada Melee did to the US government. Good night!

Thanks to whoever that was for saving my pastries and whatnot. And explaining why Meta Knight sucks but who really cares about that.

enjoy these clips of me getting bodied by bots

Another change made in Ultimate was an adjustment to Up Air’s launch angle, making it harder to combo up air into itself. So low percent Up Airs aren’t the wave, but what about high percent ones?

The windows at higher percents still aren’t very large, but a Fair hit 1 into full hop Up Air past 70% on most characters guarantees at least one more Up Air. At that height, your opponent is either kissing the blastzone or they’ve been mixed so hard you can call that bitch a fruit salad. And, as a given, fall speed, rage, and weight are all factors.

Post ~120% percents, the Up Air isn’t even needed and Fair Hit 1 into Shuttle Loop will straight out kill.

Oh i call this shit the halberd nosedick by the way it sounds funny:) and meta knight drives the hallibutt

In the ladder itself, you have a few options for the finisher: Nair, Shuttle Loop, and Mach Tornado.

- Up Air into Shuttle Loop is a true combo as long as the Pauls fake everything about their life, but using it too far away from stage can be a death sentence because of MK’s poor airspeed.

- Nair can true combo from Up Air but can be somewhat unreliable because of its hitbox. It’s also a strong kill move, making it a good kill option off the side.

- Mach Tornado off of a ladder was supposed to be the thing that killed Ultimate, but it’s just an airdodge 50/50 at the end of the day. But considering it’s a 50/50 that’ll either kill very early or give MK stage control it’s quite the option.

the sd was a flex

As for mixups on the Fair, Hit 2 of the move sends downwards with fixed knockback. It will never send into tumble (at least at reasonable percents)

Note how the U doesn’t regenerate Clown Kart, which they normally do after getting hit as solo Jr.

Meta Knight can choose to land with the second hit of Fair instead of the first to drag the opponent down with 6 frames of advantage. This means Meta Knight has the option to

- Down Tilt (Frame 3): condition shield and forces a tech chase at higher percents

- Forward Tilt (Frame 6): moderately strong kill potential

- Dash Attack (Frame 7): stuffs out options that aren’t shield or fairly quick

- Dash Grab (Frame 11): beating out shield

Here’s that new sauce I found out about.

just go here because fuck amino haha

2:22:05 because fuck amino

yeah that’s a thing apparently lmao

Meta Knight has the problem of either killing at zero or never, this fixes this. Kinda. First hit Fair is -8 on shield, which is alright for a dist. If you didn’t know already, MK bair is a hidden kill move on crack. And meth. So this can kill some midweight characters near the edge before 90. Yeah. So I hope all two Meta Knight mains start abusing that more.

Fair 1 is the easiest to combo off of compared to dash attack and d throw. Also his fair is a good move with its range and speed.
