Once upon an Undertale timeline, there was a Sans that had gotten tired of the constant risk of resets. He was frustrated with how often he and his friends would reach their happy ending, only for it all to be ripped away. It had happened so often that he was able to time how long it took for the human to fall each reset.

One day, shortly after a reset, Sans had decided to visit the lab. Seeing an old research paper on determination that Alphys had forgotten to take back down to the true lab, he came up with an idea. It was one born of desperation, sure, but it was better than any alternatives he could think of.

He took some leftover determination when Alphys was fast asleep and began to formulate his plan. Determination can't be injected into monsters without severe repercussions, but what if a monster were to stabilize pure determination with magic? It would be a big risk, but it's his only hope at saving his timeline.

Sans began working quickly, knowing that he's racing against the clock as he works on stabilizing the determination, essentially working to create a new soul born from a mix of monster magic and pure determination. However, he quickly realizes that the soul needs a body or else it wouldn't remain stable long. Unsure of what else to do, he begins doing research, trying to figure out the best way to vessel for this soul he's attempting to create.

As the time for the human to fall draws nearer, Sans finds himself working harder than he ever would, constantly keeping his project a secret from everyone else, especially Papyrus. Eventually, having managed to create a body that turned out to be another skeleton, only this skeleton was physically much younger than he was, he gently places the still-stabilizing soul inside of it to keep the soul from destabilizing and the body from turning to dust. The soul, now having a vessel, shifts to be the shape of that of a monster's soul, but created mostly out of determination.

Sans continues to monitor the soul and body up until a month before the human is meant to fall. Deciding that they're stable enough to exist, he names his creation "Comic" and begins to raise them as if they were his own child, telling Papyrus that he just happened to find them and took them in. Teaching them everything he can, and being surprised by how quickly they picked up on everything he was teaching, Sans was almost started when he realized how quickly the month went by.

Now that the human has fallen, will Comic be able to fulfill their role as the timeline's last hope or will this be the timeline where the human got tired of being nice?

Picture created using this creator and is more of a placeholder than anything. Trying to work out actual art for this bean
