Do you think shipping characters gets in the way of the plot premise or overall message of MHA?

i think it can be distracting at the very most and extreme cases especially if you’re getting involved in the fandom it’s the one topic most people highlight on the most, but i wouldn’t say it makes or breaks the series itself from its original premises

Honestly it depends on the level you're shipping at

"oh these two could be cute together" is one thing and fine, but like,, when you start to see characters for their ship worth only? Then it's an issue, at least to me.

No, I don't think shipping and the plot of MHA get in the way of the main show itself. I think people still the plot and other side stories that are connected to the show. Yes, shipping can became a big problem and turn Toxic overtime. But, others still watch the show and read the story. Or, that's what I think.

I'm not really sure. That is a debatable question or that's what I think. But, otherwise, I don't think so. Since the plot does shine especially in the War Arc to the end. I don’t think shipping doesn't get in the way. Both shipping or the plot are both apart from each other. I think people still are interested of thr plot. But they do have another interest which is shipping. Which sometimes does become toxic but others still the plot of MHA.

Oh, definitely. Plot-wise.

Especially given this fandom's history with shipping too many characters with too many characters, and it being uncomfortable, and them taking the ships so seriously that sometimes if someone objects the ship, they might actually disrespect them. It the plot, because the plot is also affected by the fandom, because sometimes the plot can actually be built on the fandom's shared interests or based on the fandom's theories sometimes, so something like my hero academia can be easily affected when a friendship between the male character and his childhood friend turns into a ship, and than the finale always changes regarding the meaning or the target of the plot. Same thing can happen with characters being shipped with other characters that they never interacted with, the plot becomes different and it can confuse others because if someone heard of a ship before actually watching the anime, they can't tell that this is just a friendship not a canon relationship, not to mention that we are talking specifically about my hero academia who's fandom had an era in which people hated the anime and didn't watch it not because of what they heard, but because of how the fandom acted and how it mostly always revolved around their opinions about ships, some people got far enough to offend and violate people that did not like their ship.

Such conflicts affect the writing of the plot, because the writer's mindset is always affected by his fan base.

In Horikoshi's case, I saw a post from him once on Twitter, but I can't tell if it was actually official or not that he said he can't wait to actually finish the anime and get rid of having to deal with the fandom, especially because many alternate endings could have happened and prolonged the plot like the villains going into rehab after Eri rewinds their quirks, or maybe Izuku not losing his quirk at all, but then again, the writer's mindset was affected by the Fandom's behavior, which was affected by people's opinions about ships.
