The moment Rex came out of the portal, he could tell that he had just stepped his feet into somewhere he shouldn't be. He arrived on a small hill on the grassy field around the center of the city. Of course, due to the world being striken from the record, Malefor was not yet aware of it. The cloudy skies were a souless grey. The city around him was missing its colors, though it didn't help that it was wet from the pouring rain.

Rex stepped out of the field and onto the pathway, entering the city streets. Upon doing so, he stepped on a dirty, damp newspaper. He picked it up and read the headline:

'Tensions Rise Between R.A.I.C and Shark Kingdom'

Down below the headline was an image showing one half of the R.A.I.C Army on the left and one half of the Shark Army on the right. Below the image was a name and date:

'Nolan Fletcher, December 21st, 2035'

Just like the world he was just on, this universe was on the exact same date as his own. How peculiar. Not wanting to continue holding the newspaper, Rex placed it onto a green bench to the left of him before making his way further into the city.

Not many people were out in the streets, and who could blame any of them with the amount of rain pouring down? Those who were out wore thick coats and shielded themselves with black umbrellas. Hardly anyone noticed Rex Allen and his Splat Force gear due to them keeping their eyes on the ground.

After walking around for a while, Rex eventually stumbled across a small history museum. It was located just opposite of what would've been the Stewart Sisters' Diner, which in this universe was known as the Eidley Brothers' Luncheon.

What caught Rex's interest wasn't of the large green gate with glass s leading into the building, and it wasn't because this building didn't exist back on his world, the interest came from what the museum was listing to showcase.

'The War Between Brothers'

The text was written on the bottom center of the screen. In the middle of the banner was the badge and logo of the Splat Force with a ripped line down the middle. Standing on the left was Frederick Evans, and on the other side of the banner... himself.

"What?!"

Rex asked himself quietly. Looks like he found where the timeline diverged from his own.

Without hesitation, Rex headed inside of the museum, quickly paying a small fine just to have a quick look around. After getting past the security checks, he entered the main open room. It was as wide as a cathedral room. The walls were made from white painted bricks with green pillers holding it up in the corners of the room. The ceiling was pure glass.

All around the room were items once owned by this universe's Splat Force, all incased in indestructible glass cases. The items included Rex's pilot goggles, Frederick's cap, Henry Spence's fishing rod, Oscar Rogue's burnt and ruined Splat Force gear, Peter Watson's Splat Force badge, Barry Gustin's utility belt, Oliver Amell's watch, among many other items.

In addition, there were plaques all around the room giving the story of this war to all who visited the museum. From looking at each of the plaques, Rex was able to put together a story: the gifted wars played out almost same way, with the big change being Major Chester and his group taking down Bolton Vulcan at the Dainty Fort, giving them more troops to take down Terrador.

Everything seemed to be going well until September 2009 when a second meteorite, the same kind that hit beforehand, struck the earth, causing another uprising of the gifted, leading more and more gifted beings to appear and cause chaos and commotion, which led to the Splat Force reforming. However, after a couple of months, a division rose between the two Commanders after a brutal battle killed many of their soldiers, including Barry and Henry. Struck by loss, Frederick once again led down a much darker path, vowing to destroy the Gifted for the damage they've caused, however, Rex wanted to settle things how they did back during the gifted wars.

The team was split. Oliver, and Chester ed Frederick's side, whereas Oscar remained by Rex's side, alongside Alyssa Frida and Peter Watson. The two teams stayed out of each other's ways for a while, but when their paths cross, fights broke out. This went on for a full year.

As time went on, the division between the two once best friends had grown wider and wider, and Frederick was desperate to end the Gifted,  On October 13th 2010, Frederick led an attack to Rex and Alyssa's home, detonating it and catching Rex and Alyssa off guard.

That was all of the backstory that the plaque had, although judging from all of the items and interest around the area, Rex only assumed the worst.

Leaving the museum, Rex went around the city, going through graveyard after graveyard, trying to find something that could help him solve this mystery. Along the way, he saw the graves of Barry, Oliver, Peter, Henry, and Chester.

Eventually, he found a graveyard on the north part of town leading into a small forest at the back. After going through each grave one by one, he found it. Rex kneeled before the grave, wiping dirty off of it to get a better view at the text written.

'Here Lies:

Rex Joseph Allen

Beloved Husband, Son, Father

September 18th 1984 - October 13th 2010'

The realisation hit Rex as he put the pieces together. Once again, he was in a universe where he was no more, something that he was expecting, however, he never expected his death to have come from someone whom he once called a brother.

All of a sudden, Rex felt something off. It felt as if he were being watched. Turning his head around to the left, Rex immediately found the source. Up ahead was a woman staring at him. She wore a wet black hoodie, dark grey jeans, and black boots. The hood was so far up that he wasn't able to get a good look at her face.

Rex stood up and turned around. As he made his first few steps towards the woman, he attempted to make .

"Hello?!"

He called out, but to no response. The woman kept standing still, staring ominously at Rex, who made a second attempt at .

"Hey! Hello?! C-Can you-"

All of a sudden, a bright blue light bursted from the woman's hands and feet as she started flying forward, right past Rex and into the forest.

"WAIT!"

He yelled before super jumping after her.

A mini chase had begun as Rex ran after the flying woman, ing tree after tree. The woman was flying away at the speed of someone running, which unintentionally allowed Rex to catch up.

"Please wait!"

Rex called out again. Just as he did so, however, the woman pulled both her arms and her legs a little before pushing them back, blasting off further away. As she reached a small drop, she suddenly flew downwards, completely out of sight.

Rex arrived at the drop, stopping himself from falling face first into the ground below. He looked down and saw an opened just below. Upon super jumping down to the bottom of the drop, he saw that the opening was in fact a mini cave. It looked small on the outside, but at the very back was a door made completely from stone.

Upon opening it, Rex was greeted by a spiral staircase, once again made purely from stone. Wanting to know about this woman, he ran all the way down the stairs into he reached another stone door. He opened it and entered a wide rectangular stone room.

The room itself looked as if it were an old abandoned base. There were weapons without ammo scattered around on the floor, Splat Force badges resting on the bar table at the top left corner of the room, and target practices at the top right being in complete ruin.

The room was dark, only being lit up by small lanterns against the walls. Rex walked further into the room, looking around. Of course, whatever this place was didn't exist back in his world.

All of a sudden, just as Rex was about to turn to the direction of the front door, he was hit by a light blue energy beam, knocking him back across the room. He groaned as he landed on his back.

The woman took several small steps forward towards Rex, fists glowing blue. Seeing this, Rex held his hands up as he slowly stood up.

"P-Platinum? I-Is that y-y-you?!"

He asked. Learning of the timelime from the museum and his grave, he was able to put together that Platinum would've been born into this world.

The woman froze.

"Wh-What did you just call me?"

She asked.

Her voice was much deeper then Platinum's. It couldn't be her. Rex picked up on it almost instantly.

"What? Y-You're not Platinum..."

The woman's fists stopped glowing and were not as tense as before. Slowly, she took them up to her hood and pulled it down, revealing her face to him. She was an Octoling woman with long blue hair with curls at the tips. Her eyes were a deep blue with white pupils.

The mere sight of the woman's face made Rex tremble. His mouth was stuck open, his breathing shaky, and his eyes starting to water. He took a couple of steps forward before collapsing onto his knees.

"A-A-Alyssa...?"

He called out weakly. There was no question now. The woman in question that he had been following was this universe's Alyssa Frida.

Alyssa cautiously moved forward, squinting her eyes and taking a closer look at the shook Inkling who kneeled before her.

"It's impossible... you can't be..."

Rex nodded very quickly and repetitively.

"I-I-I am... I-I am..."

Now, Alyssa was the one getting emotional. She kneeled to his level, keeping a small gap between the pair of them as they looked into each other's eyes.

"B-But you're d-d-dead... you've been d-dead for twenty-five years..."

Realising that Alyssa really needed a good explanation for all of it, he tried calming himself down, taking small breaths until he was able to speak fluently.

"I-I'm not from this universe, Alyssa."

"Universe?"

Alyssa asked to which Rex nodded.

"Right, okay. That explains... all of this."

Rex chuckled.

"My team and I were sent out into the multiverse to look for allies for a coming conflict."

"Another conflict?"

Alyssa asked. Of course, there was concern in her voice when asking about it, but a lot of it was overshadowed with tiredness.

Rex nodded.

"One that could bring about the end of every reality."

He further elaborated.

"I know this a lot to take in, b-but-"

"Yeah... it is."

Alyssa muttered. Suddenly, a wave of doubt washed over her face, she looked down to the ground between them in shame.

"I've done really bad things since your death, u-unspeakable things... I-I don't know if I-"

Wanting to calm her down, Rex instinctively placed a hand on her left cheek.

"That doesn't matter to me."

He assured her. The moment he realised what he was doing, he took his hand off of her in regret. He quickly managed to get back on topic following this small mishap.

"The showdown is happening back in my reality. On top of our mission to get allies, we were also tasked with bringing one back home each."

"I-I can't..."

Alyssa muttered, instantly knowing where all of this was going.

"I-I am no hero anymore..."

"I understand how you feel..."

Rex told her.

"There was a time where I thought the same thing, but that feeling has come to . I ed what I was fighting for, who I was fighting for."

"But I don't have anyone to fight for..."

Rex thought for a second.

"How about... me, or at least, your me. Fight to keep his memory alive."

Alyssa pondered it for a couple of seconds before agreeing with a nod.

"Okay. I'll keep my Rex in mind."

Rex smiled.

"Good."

He replied as he began changing the settings of his Portal Projectiler.

"Hold still."

After firing it at Alyssa, it took a few seconds for the suit to fully wrap itself around her. As it did so, Rex started going through his uni-jump watch.

"One, seven... oh, I got it!"

He whispered to himself before successfully typing in the universe number into the watch. Once the destination had been set, he walked over to Alyssa and connected their suits so that their destination was in sync with one another.

"You're about to see something really weird."

After the two suits connected, it was only a matter of seconds before the next journey began. Once again, a portal materialised from above them and wrapped itself around them fully, taking them out of this universe.

B A C K O N E A R T H 2 0 . . .

B E E P , B E E P , B E E P ! ! !

The alert and pedestal started going off yet again. Both Magnus and Samantha rushed to it at the same time.

"It's Shauna!"

Magnus said before pulling her in with the green button.

It was only a matter of seconds until Shauna appeared alongside the ally she brought with her. The moment the suit came off of her, she let out a massive sigh of relief.

"Oh lord, do I have a story for you two!"

She exclaimed as she walked towards Magnus and Samantha, hopping off of the platform to them by the pedestal.

As the suit came off of Drift Evans, he looked around the base.

"Feels like decades since I've been in this room."

He said outloud, still stood in the middle of the platform.

"Drift...?"

A familiar voice called out from the front of the platform.

The sound of the voice made Drift flinch. There was only one person that he knew sounded like that. He turned to the direction of the voice towards Ami Stewart. His body started shaking and tears filled his eyes from simply looking at her.

"A-A-Ami...?"

He whimpered quietly, though the second time he said her name was more louder.

"A-Ami...?"

"Drift, is that you?"

Ami called out once again.

"I know that voice, a-and that streak in your hai-"

Drift quickly walked forward and jumped off of the platform before wrapping her arms around Ami tightly.

"O-Oh, A-Ami, I-I-"

He cried before his attention was taken by someone else. Standing by the bunker door was his biological father. Everything started coming back to him, all of the pain and suffering he caused both him, and Ami. Without warning, Drift snapped.

"N-NOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

Drift started unleashing fireball after fireball at Bolton, who blocked each hit with his blade.

"Drift, stop!"

Bolton exclaimed, but the variant of his son didn't stop.

"YOU WILL NOT TAKE HER AGAIN! YOU WILL NOT KILL HER!"

He roared before unleashing a powerful flamethrower.

W H O O S H ! ! !

Ami had taken a massive step back, now standing on the platform. Magnus, Samantha, and Shauna watched, the former two knowing that Bolton wad able to handle himself, not that Shauna knew that.

"ENOUGH!"

The booming voice of The Beholder called out from above the pedestal.

Drift stopped attacking Bolton and turned to The Beholder, instantly recognising him.

"Y-You... I-I know you..."

"Drift Evans of Earth 2012, I do not wish to make things personal with you."

"You watched as my world went up in flames! You didn't do anything! I NEEDED HELP AND YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!"

Drift exclaimed before firing a fireball at The Beholder. Of course, it went right through him and did no damage.

"Drift Evans, please, calm down!"

The Beholder exclaimed, not wanting to risk anyone getting hurt.

"SHUT UP!"

Drift roared before letting out a violent flamethrower.

W H O O S H ! ! !

Once again, the attack went right through The Beholder and hit the ceiling above him. The Beholder realised that he couldn't calm Drift down through peaceful talking, he needed to raise his voice.

The Beholder quickly floated down towards Drift and grabbed both of his arms, stopping the flamethrower.

"WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR WORLD IS ON YOU! ALL OF THE DEATHS, THE DESTRUCTION, EVERYTHING IS ON YOU! YOUR WORLD'S STORY PLAYED OUT THE WAY IT DID BECAUSE OF YOU! NOT ME!"

The Beholder bellowed. This was the loudest he had ever gotten not just with a mere mortal like him, but ever. Once Drift was too shaken to speak, The Beholder let go of his arms and moved back.

"It wasn't my job to save your world. Unfortunately, some timelines are destined to fall, yours especially. I'm sorry, Drift Evans, but that's how it is."

Drift silently cried on the spot as The Beholder faded away. Ami, who was completely taken aback by from what looked like an angry space man that just showed up, had so many questions.

"Okay, what the hell was even that about?!"

All other eyes were too focused on Drift that they didn't process Ami's utter confusion. Both Magnus and Shauna carefully approched Drift, the former of the two being the one who spoke.

"Drift... do you wanna sit down somewhere?"

Drift was too much in shock and in tears to say even a simple sentence. All he could do was look up at him.

"M-M-Magnus..."

He muttered before finally making a physical response. He slowly began making his way to the stairs at the corner next to the training area.

"I'll stay with him."

Shauna said before ing him, wanting to give him some company.

Magnus let out a mildly stressed out exhale as he walked back to the pedestal. He was of course greeted by a concerned Samantha.

"You seem way more chilled out about this them I thought you'd be, considering... you know."

Magnus understood Samantha's concern, but quickly helped put it to rest with a somewhat reassuring response.

"I'll be fine. It's not the first Drift I've seen today."

"Oh, I see..."

Samantha replied. With everything now settled, things slowly started getting back to normal.

After Vincent found Emily on Earth 2015, the pair of them travelled through the multiverse and arrived at their next destination. The landed on hard rock. The sky was filled with dark clouds covering it up with the only sources of light coming from fire and lava.

Emily got back on her feet instantly and look back at Vincent.

"What is your problem?!"

"My problem?!"

Vincent said as he stood back up and faced her.

"You're the one who left me behind!"

"Yeah! After seein' the man I killed suddenly show up! Could you BLAME ME?!"

Emily shouted back before turning and walking up the rocky hill. She then turned back after a few large steps up the mountain.

"How the hell did you find me anyway?!"

"I went to The Beholder after going through many different universes both recruiting people AND looking for you! I had to go on this damn train! He then told me your whereabouts and then the rest is history!"

He called out, still at the bottom of the hill, looking all the way up at Emily, who was almost at the top already.

"What?! Did you seriously not think I could do it on my own?!"

"What?! NO! Of course not!"

"Then why did you feel the need to follow me and drag me to... whatever this squithole is?!"

"BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO RISK LOSING YOU! YOU'RE ALL THAT I HAVE LEFT!"

He shouted back, bringing their argument to a temporary close.

Confused, Emily  stopped climbing the hill and turned around. She squinted her eyes at him.

"Wh-What?!"

Vincent rushed forward trying to close the gap between the pair of them. Once there was a much smaller gap, he stopped. He looked to the ground for a moment before looking back up at Emily.

"My family are dead. Both my parents are dead, my brother is dead, my friends are either dead or not wanting anything to do with me, alright? I am alone, and will probably continue to be for the rest of my goddamn life, especially if I lost you during this mission."

He said before elaborating as to where Emily fitted in this whole spectrum. He took a couple of steps closer to Emily until he was standing just before her.

"You have been the one good thing that's happened to me over the past decade! If we never crossed paths, I'd still be committing heinous acts and dropping bodies everywhere I go! You changed me, Emily, and not just that, but you've been there for me! You've been ive of my journey, and you're the one who trusted me enough to help! You're the only friend I have Emily, you're like family. You're the daughter I wish I had... and if I lost you, I'd... I-I don't know..."

Emily needed a few seconds just so she could take everything in, especially that last part about herself being the daughter he would've wanted. The words were so kind yet so sad to her. After a couple of seconds of contemplating, she finally responded.

"I'm sorry for runnin' off."

Emily said, holding out her hand to help Vincent further up the hill.

"I'm sorry for forcing you into... wherever the hell we are now."

Vincent replied.

"Actually, yeah, where are we?"

Emily asked before turning around and climbing up the rest of the hill. Up ahead in the horizon was a massive castle made from dark indigo bricks. The front entrance had a bridge that went over a pool of lava and the lights from inside either came from the outside light or the torches on the wall.

"That looks... like a nice place to settle for a bit."

"Be my guest."

Vincent told her.

Not long later, the pair of them arrived at the castle. Vincent led the way whilst Emily stayed at the back, feeling very cautious of this place.

"I have a bad feelin' about that place."

"Well, that makes two of us."

Vincent replied, keeping his hand on his weapon.

"Any second now, somebody will come from nowhere and-"

B A N G ,  B A N G ,  B A N G ! ! !

Suddenly, gunfire was heard from the distance, followed by loud painful screaming. Needing a place to hide, Vincent pointed to the blown-in wall to their left.

"Let's hide behind the rubble!"

"Already thinkin' of that!"

Emily exclaimed as she ran past Vincent.

The pair of them ran up the pile of rubble leading to a gap in the wall above. Once far up the rubble, they both hid behind broken ceiling parts.

They both peaked around the corner of their walls to which as an unarmed man ran to where they were just at, only to get caught by a large fire. Flames started attaching itself onto the man's body, causing screaming and agony. The man was pulled further into the fire until making with what appeared to be a man made entirely out of fire, yet it had the essence of a ghost. Suddenly, the unarmed man's entire body was engulfed in flames. The screaming continued until the man was no more.

Both Emily and Vincent waited out the time until the fire completely disappeared. Once gone, they both looked at each other.

"What was hell was th-"

Emily was about to ask before hearing something to her right. It was the sound of stones falling down the rubble slope. She turned to her right to see cloaked figure standing at the very top of the pile of rubble. After both Emily and Vincent locked eyes onto the figure, it quickly turned around and ran.

"Follow him!"

"Already on it!"

Vincent said before going into his swim form and jumping after the figure. Not feeling strong enough to jump at that moment, Emily did things the harder way and climbed up the pile until she reached the top.

She looked out of the gap on the wall to find Vincent standing ahead of the cloaked figure, weapon aimed straight at him. Once the figure saw that Emily had caught up, he gave in.

"Alright, you caught me! But I'm not an enemy!"

"Yeah, we'll be the judge of that!"

Vincent told him before taking a step closer and nudging the figure with his gun.

"Now, pull down that hood."

"Alright, alright! Geez!"

The figure replied before doing as Vincent said. The hood came down, revealing an Inkling with slit-back black hair. He had a scarred face as if he had been hit by a direct explosion.

"My name is Jay Renner, or Jason Renner if you guys wanna be bigots."

"None of us are bigots."

Vincent assured Jay.

"Well, you used to be a bigot towards thr gifted, but you've changed from then."

Emily commented.

"Yeah you're right. Got some help, changed my views, and I'm doing fine now."

Vincent reassured him.

"Okay... Jay it is."

Jay said to them.

Emily walked closer to them, eyes fixated on Jay.

"What's your story?"

"Well, I used to be a stage act which I did with my gifts to transform my body into-"

"You can transform your body?!"

Jay then channelled his gifts and morphed his entire body to resemble Emily's, getting it completely perfect down to the last detail, although the scar on his face remained.

"Wow, cool body! I love how squishy you are!"

Jay said as he patted his belly and then felt the chest.

"I'd love to have a body like this!"

"Okay, you don't have to... do that."

"Right, of course!"

Jay said before switching his body back to normal.

"Anyway, I was an ally of Bolton Vulcan for a short time, an-"

"You were Bolton's ally?!"

Emily asked, to which Jay nodded.

"I don't you at all!"

"I do. I had a run-in with him once."

Vincent said outloud, all eyes going to him. He then looked at Jay.

"How about you make yourself useful, Jay."

"Useful..."

Jay whispered to himself before snapping his fingers the moment an idea came to his head.

"I can give you a little tour, assuming that weird fire man doesn't show up!"

Vincent smirked.

"Alright Jay, lead us the way!"

B A C K O N E A R T H 1 7 0 3 . . .

Coming out of a portal in the trees, both Rex and Alyssa kept low as to not attract the attention of anyone at the base.

"Wh-What was that?!"

Alyssa asked in alarm, not being able to fully process the experience she had just gone through.

"That is what I've been doing for the past hour."

Rex answered as he looked through the gaps between the leaves in the trees. He eventually saw a worried Platinum approaching the area. He then turned to Alyssa.

"Stay put, there's someone I'd like you to meet."

And just like that, Rex left Alyssa where she was. She stood up and walked to the back of the little area, leaning against a tree. Meanwhile, Rex ran up to Platinum, greeting her with a hug.

"Are you doing okay, kiddo?"

"Where have you been, Dad?! I've been looking for you everywhere!"

"I'm sorry, I'll tell you about it later!"

Rex replied as the hug came to an end.

"Right now, there is someone in those trees who I've managed to find. I think you're gonna like this!"

Rex started moving the pair of them to the trees, however, Platinum quickly stopped him.

"Dad, I lost my watch!"

She told him.

"What?!"

"I had a run-in with one of the Majors, he was had ice gifts. He blasted an icicle at my arm and it disarmed me. I sent him to that safe place with a portal, but I was heard. I couldn't get the watch back in time. Then one of the Commanders came in and took it away. I think he went in there."

Platinum informed him before pointing at the essential only building.

"Right, okay."

Rex replied, eyes set on the building.

"You go to the trees, I'll get the watch."

And with that being said, Rex was off. He rushed over to the building, slowing down a little as he got closer so as to not look suspicious. The moment he entered the building, Platinum turned and walked to the gap in the trees.

As she reached the trees, Platinum saw the figure of someone leaning against the trees. As Platinum entered the area and got a better look, her entire body stopped with a loud gasp from her mouth.

Alyssa took a quick glance at Platinum for a split second before looking away. She then did an immediate double take and looked back, eyes widening as she looked at the Inkotoling.

Platinum's who body shook as she started to cry.

"M-M-Mom...?"

She weakly called out, taking a few small steps closer to her.

"A-Are you Pl-Platinum??"

Alyssa asked as she tried keeping herself together. However, the moment that Platinum nodded, confirming her identity, Alyssa gasped.

"O-Oh my!"

Without hesitation or notice, Platinum jumped at Alyssa, wrapping her up in the tightest hug ever. She sobbed into Alyssa's shoulders, her whimpering being muffled by her shirt.

"There, there..."

Alyssa whispered into Platinum's ears repetitively until she was much calmer. Once things had settled down between the pair of them, they both pulled out of the hug and smiled at each other.

"We have a lot of catch up to do, huh?"

Platinum giggled.

"Y-Yeah we do!"

M E A N W H I L E W I T H R E X . . .

Rex exited the elevator on the bottom floor, the storage floor. Thankfully, he was the only one on the elevator that time, decreasing the risk of him getting caught by anyone. What he underestimated, however, was the large amount of storage that was on this floor.

The room was very long in length, so long in fact that running back and fourth from each side of the room would he considered a great exercise routine. The floors, walls, and ceiling were all a reflective black and the room was scattered in containers.

"Oh boy..."

Rex whispered to himself before beginning the search.

For the next seven minutes, Rex went around container after container trying to find Platinum's uni-jump watch, but to hardly any success. Most of what he found were either weaponry, bombs, gear materials, or badges.

Eventually, Rex finally found luck near the back of the room after finding a small black box resting on the floor next to another wooden container. It was hidden so well that Rex almost overlooked it. He picked it up and opened it, revealing Platinum's uni-jump watch.

"Finally!"

Rex quietly exclaimed to himself before stuffing it into his utility belt.

Just then, he heard the elevator door opened. Rex looked over to see someone walk out of it.

"Hello?! Anyone here?!"

The man called out, looking to his left and seeing nothing. He then looked to his right and saw Rex standing there in the distance.

"Yeah, I'm just leaving!"

Rex called back before turning and walking further down the path to look natural.

"Hey!"

The man at the elevator called out.

"The exit is this way, pal!"

"Dammit..."

Rex whispered to himself before fully turning around. He then started walking towards the elevator.

"Right, sorry about that! I was recently sent here from another base."

"Of course! I suppose it's best we get introduced then?"

The man said, now standing fully under the ceiling light. The man had the same gear as everyone else, but green to match his spikey pale-green hair. He wore a visor cap on his head and had a green scarf. Rex had to contain his shock otherwise his cover would be blown. He knew exactly whom was standing before him now. He had to play it cool.

"Say, have we met? You look familiar?"

"I don't think we have, no."

Rex answered.

"I'm... F-Frederick."

"Hmm, that'll be easy to !"

He replied, taking another step forward so he was closer to Rex.

"Yes! Frederick..."

Rex replied, quickly trying his hardest to think of a surname. Thankfully, one came to mind at an instant.

"Frida! Frederick Frida!"

"Nice name, Frida!"

He complimented before holding out his hand for a handshake.

"Frederick Evans."

Rex took Frederick's hand and looked onto his warm green eyes. It really was him.

"Fred..."

Rex gently whispered to himself. Thankfully, Frederick wasn't able to hear the whisper.

As the handshake came to an end, Frederick took a closer look at Rex's face and squinted his eyes in concern.

"Say, you're looking as if you've seen a ghost. You wanna go and get some air?"

Frederick asked, but to no response from Rex, who was staring at him whilst trying his best not to completely lose it.

"Hello? Frida?!"

"O-Oh! Yeah! Yeah, that would be good!"

Rex replied quickly, trying his hardest not to stumble on any words.

"Alright, let's get you outta here, Frida!"

Frederick said, putting Rex's back as he took him to the elevator.

M E A N W H I L E W I T H P L A T I N U M A N D A L Y S S A . . .

Both Platinum and Alyssa were sat opposite each other as the former of the two spoke about her history.

"You then injected the cure into you and then... went super nova and cured everyone."

Platinum explained to Alyssa her history back on her world.

"You died a hero, Mom."

"I see..."

Alyssa muttered, looking to the ground.

"I wish I could've had that reality..."

"Why?"

"Because at least I would've had you."

She answered, pain filling her face.

That comment felt ominous to Platinum. She knew that there must've been something more to the story.

"Wh-What do you mean?"

"I was pregnant when your father and Frederick went to war against each other. One day, the attack came to our home, and... I-I lost you..."

She told her. Platinum gasped softly.

"Whilst I was crying on the floor, Frederick tried going in for the kill, but Rex jumped in the way and died for me..."

"That's... horrible."

Platinum said to her before recalling what she ed of the Frederick from her world.

"The Frederick I knew was nothing like that. I called him Uncle Frederick. He'd come by every now and then for a visit or he'd us on a hike. I couldn't imagine him doing... any of that."

Alyssa chose to move on from talking about Frederick or Rex.

"After... that. I isolated myself for a long time, living in the base that mine and Rex's team operated from. I learned more about my gifts, I pushed the boundaries of what I can do. I even discovered that I could fly."

"Wow... could I fly as well?"

Alyssa chuckled.

"You may fall many times, but you can always get back up and try again."

Platinum nodded a couple of times.

"Yeah, checks out."

She replied.

"Ya know, that's actually really good advice to give to someone about anything. Maybe try applying that to yourself."

"Really?"

"Of course! You may have fallen in the past, you may think that you've failed at everything, but if you can get back up and continue to fight for what's right, then you'll fly to victory."

Platinum told her before scooching herself closer to Alyssa and holding her hands.

"I don't know how long we'll be together for, so I just want to say this while I still can... you were an amazing mother. You were brave, heroic, and an inspiration to me and everyone I know. I love you, Mom, I always will."

"An-And I love you... too..."

Alyssa said, getting emotional as she finally got to say what she's always wanted to say to her daughter.

M E A N W H I L E W I T H R E X A N D F R E D E R I C K . . .

Both Rex and Frederick got into the elevator together, with Frederick pressing the button that'll take them up to the front entrance.

"So, what's your story, Frida?"

He asked, stepping back from the buttons and now standing to the right of Rex.

"Me?"

Rex asked to which Frederick hummed in response.

"I'm just a man trying to provide for his kid, much like you, I'm guessing."

Frederick chuckled.

"Not so much these days."

He answered before elaborating.

"I only have one kid, well, he's not exactly a kid anymore, but... you know."

Rex chuckled.

"Yeah, same case for me, except mine's a girl."

Frederick chuckled.

"A girl would've been nice."

He said as the elevator closed. He then went back to the topic of his son.

"My son, well, adopted son is turning thirty in a couple of weeks. We don't speak as much these days, but we do tend to meet up for big events. I've actually already bought him a gift for his birthday."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah. I got him and I tickets to see The Ink Jets live on stage."

He said, showing a bit of excitement from the smile on his face.

"I know he's been getting into that band recently, so I thought I'd give him a nice surprise."

Rex chuckled.

"That sounds like a good gift. They're a good band!"

He said, although he had never actually listened to a single song of theirs.

"Sounds like you and your son get on quite well."

Frederick smiled.

"Yeah, I'd like to think we do..."

He replied before the smile on his face faulted.

"We've had our rough patches in the past, especially after finding out about his true heritage. He didn't speak to me for months. It wasn't until one knight when I was sat in the garden alone eating that he came out and we talked. Of course, tears were shed, but it was a nice moment. He became friends again that night."

Rex smiled at Frederick as the elevator door opened.

"I'm happy for you."

"Thank you, Frida."

Frederick said as the pair of them walked out of the elevator and out into the open. He then sighed.

"I've screwed up many times over the years, especially with my son. There have been times where I put work over simple hang outs, and sometimes I get this feeling that I'm letting him down a lot."

"I get that!"

Rex replied.

"Really?"

Frederick asked. He stopped walking and looked at Rex.

"Yeah, I messed up a lot as a parent to. It hasn't been easy since her mother died ten years ago."

"I'm sorry, I know how that feels..."

"Thank you."

Rex said before going back to what he was saying.

"I went through a long period of time where I didn't speak to my daughter because I was afraid of losing her like I lost her mother, but we did reconnect, and we're both doing good now."

Frederick's smile came back, albeit much smaller than before, the fact that it was back meant that Rex was doing something right.

"How do you do it?"

"Well, what I say to myself is that people like you and me, we're doing this job for a reason, and that reason is so that our kids and their kids will have a better future."

Rex said to him.

"If we can make they're future better, then everything we do will pay off greatly."

"Huh, I never actually thought about that. Good words there, Frida."

Frederick said before walking forward. Rex smiled at himself for giving this Frederick some words of encouragement. Just as he was about to follow, he caught a glimpse of Platinum by the gap in the trees, he gave a hand gesture that told her to wait one more minute. Frederick then walked back to Rex.

"Well Frida, it's been nice meeting you! I hope to see you around!"

Frederick offered his hand to Rex.

"Of course, F-Fred."

Rex said as he shook his hand, letting one "Fred" slip, though Frederick didn't take much notice.

"You're doing amazing, keep being the man you are, and hug that son of yours for me."

Frederick chuckled, not expecting Rex to suddenly get so forward.

"Heh, will do, Fri-"

Suddenly, Rex impulsively gave Frederick a hug.

"Thank you... f-for everything you've done for this world."

He whispered. Though confused, Frederick hugged him back until the hug wrapped up. Rex gave Frederick one last look before walking back to Platinum.

Frederick approched one of the Splat Force Majors, who was stood ahead and ready to greet him.

"Chester."

He greeted with a nod, getting a nod from Chester in response before looking back at Rex, who was walking away.

"Do I know that guy?"

"Not sure, you've met so many people, Commander."

Chester answered.

"Yeah, but there's something familiar about this guy that's just... familiar."

He said, pondering for a moment before looking back at Chester.

Meanwhile, Rex got Platinum's uni-jump watch out from his utility belt and handed it to her.

"Was that Frederick Evans?!"

Platinum asked.

"It was. I ran into him whilst I was getting this."

An idea hatched in Platinum's mind.

We should bring him home with us too!"

"Wh-What?!"

"No, really, think about it! There's two of us, one of us can take Mom, and the other can take Frederick!"

Platinum exclaimed.

Rex shook his head, not liking the idea of it.

"Absolutely not! I can't have him-"

"Dad!"

Platinum whispered, getting closer to him and gently holding his right shoulder.

"We need all the help we can get, right? Shouldn't we get a leader like him to help us?"

She was right, and Rex knew it. He didn't like the thought of putting Frederick in danger, especially after learning about parts of his history on this world, but he needed allies, and there was two of them to bring both him and Alyssa home. At last, Rex stood aside, giving Platinum the go-ahead.

Platinum rushed forward, putting her uni-jump watch back on as she approched the Commander.

"Commander Evans!"

She called out.

Frederick paused his conversation with Chester and turned to Platinum. He became curious about her, not recognising her.

"Hello? Who are you?"

"My name is Platinum Frida! I need your help taking down this big threat!"

That greeting was a lot to take in for Frederick.

"Frida..."

He whispered to himself, taking a couple of seconds to think about whatever the situation could be before turning to Chester.

"I'll take with you later, Chester."

Chester nodded before leaving the Commander to deal with whatever Platinum was about to say to him.

"Now, what do you need help with?"

"I don't have much time to explain! Follow me, please!"

Platinum said before running off towards the trees.

"Hey! Wait up!"

Frederick called out before running after Platinum.

Platinum led Frederick to the trees where Rex and Alyssa were. The moment he stepped through the gap in the trees, he saw the man he had just met alongside an Octoling woman that looked familiar to him.

The moment that Alyssa's eyes met Frederick's, she felt so many different emotions within the span of a second. First grief, then sadness, and then anger. She ran forward and blasted an energy beam at him, but the attack missed and hit a tree close by.

Needing to deescalate things quickly, Rex jumped into the middle of them, looking directly at Alyssa.

"ALYSSA STOP! HE'S NOT YOUR FRED!"

"OUT OF THE WAY, REX! OUT OF THE WAY!"

Alyssa yelled at him.

"Mom, stop!"

Platinum yelled, running over to her mother to calm her down.

"Not your Fred?! Rex?! What's going on?!"

Frederick said, both hands in the air. He didn't have his weapon on him.

Rex looked back at Frederick before taking a deep breath.

"Okay, Fred, this is going to sound really strange... but I'm Rex Allen... I'm not from this reality, I'm from... how do I say this to you... I'm from an alternate universe!"

Frederick slowly lowered his hands, looking at Rex as if he were on drugs.

"Fuck off. There is no possible way you expect me to believe something lik-"

All of a sudden, one of the trees started glitching, similarly to how things started glitching back on their home world.

"What was that?!"

Frederick asked Rex.

"What the hell was-"

All of a sudden, everything around them, every tree, every boulder, every building, all began glitching as well. Just like how it was on their world, it went on for a minute until it finally settled. It didn't take long until Frederick noticed the new purple sky.

"Right..."

Frederick muttered as alarms started going off around the base. He then looked down at the ground briefly to catch his breath before looking at Rex.

"My N-Zap and ammo are both at one of the target practising rooms at the very back of the main building. Go all the way down the hallway, up the stairs to the right and it's in the first room to the left. Be quick."

"On it!"

Rex said before rushing towards the building.

He followed Frederick's directions precisely. The chaos unfolding throughout the base made it ever so slightly easier for him to manoeuvre through the building. He reached the end of the hallway and then took the stairs to the right. Upon going up the spiral staircase, he reached the training floor. He then went on the first room on the left.

Just as he had hoped, Frederick's N-Zap and ammo were laying out of the desk. Trying to move quickly, he rushed over to the desk and took what he needed, stuffing it into his utility belt.

Just then, the door opened.

"FREEZE!"

A booming voice called out from behind. Rex turned himself around to see Commander Jamie Stewart standing there with his weapon pointed straight at him.

"HANDS IN THE AIR, INTRUDER."

Rex disobeyed Jamie's orders, instead chosing to activate his Portal Projectiler.

"You'll forgive me for this one day, Jamie."

He said before firing it at Jamie. Before he could react, the portal took him away.

Now that he was in the clear, Rex made his escape through the back exit downstairs and was about to run back to where the others were, however, as he turned to his left and began running, heard a voice call out from his fifth.

"A battle is imminent!"

The voice called out. It was an elderly Octoling woman with grey hair and pigtails. She had tan skin and wore a purple gown. She was sitting at a small stand on the grass just in front of the pathway. Behind her was a purple curtain to help her see.

"What did you just say?"

Rex called out to her.

"I said that a battle is imminent!"

She replied as Rex began walking towards her.

"I am a Seer. I can see into one's many futures. I can be used as a guide as whether or not one should enter the battle."

"Okay?"

Rex replied as he arrived at the stand.

"What if there's a battle that's coming, and no matter what, you have to be there?"

"Then you better hope destiny hasn't brought you to your ultimate moment."

The Seer answered.

Rex pondered what to say to the Seer. A part of him wanted to just walk away and return to Platinum and the others, but a much bigger part of him wanted to stay and talk to the Seer.

"What if they're from another universe?"

"My gifts no zero boundaries, young man."

The old woman told him.

"I can even see small glimpses of yours."

"Y-You can?!"

"Yes. Although I can only see fully if I reach out into your mind."

The Seer said to him.

Here, Rex was presented with a choice, either go back to the others and work things out together, or stay and learn about the fight ahead of them. He pondered for a long moment before making up his mind.

"Can you look into my future? I need to know how it'll go."

"Are you sure?"

The Seer asked him, giving him one final chance.

"Knowing your future is a heavy burden, especially if it's one of tragedy. Are you sure that this is what you want?"

"I don't care burdens or how badly this'll effect me! I need to know what'll happen."

Rex replied, locking himself in. There was no going back for him now.

"Please, I need to know."

"Very well..."

The Seer replied as she prepared to see into his future.

B A C K O N E A R T H 8 1 7 1 . . .

After making sure that the cost was clear, Jay Renner led Emily and Vincent through the castle, the latter of the three of them had questions.

"How did you end up here?"

Vincent asked.

"I travelled here after hearing of signs of life being here. I didn't think it would be... whatever that sentient fire man is."

Jay answered.

"I've watxhed so many get brutally burnt alive, far too many. I think I'm one of the last surviving beings in this world."

"How have you survived this long?"

Emily asked.

"Simple, I shape-shifting into a filled-up whale and splash myself in water to keep my cooled."

Jay explained, making Emily and Vincent glance at each other in confusion as the three of them turned a corner. Jay walked forward for a little bit. Straight ahead was a large open exit, however, that wasn't where he was walking towards. He stopped just outside of a small steal door.

"Follow me down here."

"Why?"

Vincent asked.

"I need your help with something."

Jay replied before walking through the door and down the steps. Emily and Vincent once again traded looks and shrugs before agreeing to follow Jay.

Upon walking down the steps, the three of them stepped into a small rectangular room. On the left wall were four steal doors, each tightly sealed.

B A N G ,  B A N G ! ! !

The three of them all jumped in surprise after hearing loud banging from the second to last door. Jay quickly turned to the other two.

"THAT is what I need your help for!"

"You couldn't have let them free yourself?"

Vincent asked.

"Oh no, the only thing I have is this."

Jay said as he moved his body sideways, gesturing at the holster on the right side of his weist.

"It's not strong enough to break the locks."

"Can't you just turn yourself into someone who can rip off doors with their large ass muscles?"

Emily asked.

Jay shook his head.

"Oh no, that's not how it works."

He said before explaining the basics of transformation to them.

"I can transform my physical appearance to look like anyone, but that's it. I can't copy gifts."

"Right, okay."

Vincent said before walking past Jay towards the locked door. Grabbing his weapon from its holster, Vincent pointed it directly at the locks.

B A N G ! ! !

All of the modifications added to it gave it the power boost it needed to destroy the lock, unlocking the door, which slowly opened backwards, revealing a dark and empty cell. Vincent took a couple of steps forward into it.

"Hello?"

He called out but to no response, or at least that's how it was at first. All of a sudden, an Inkling woman from the shadows dashed at Vincent, grabbing him by the neck and pinning him against the wall opposite the cell, alarming both Jay and Emily, the latter of which putting a hand on her Splattershot.

The woman in question had long dark hair with green highlights. She was wearing a black crop top underneath an open navy dark green jacket. She wore black baggy tros and boots. On her back was a dual scabbard, one of the blades was resting in it, the other was in her right hand pressed against Vincent's throat whilst she held him down with her left hand.

"Ma'am! Let go! We are NOT your enemies!"

Vincent exclaimed.

"I killed you once, Fisk! I'll happily do so again!"

The woman growled back.

Emily quickly intervened, pushing the woman off of him, causing her to fall onto her back. She then instinctively went for her sword that was no on the floor, leading Emily to quickly kick it away, which led to the woman grabbing her other sword.

Emily kept her in place by aiming her Splattershot at her.

"Calm down! He's not an enemy! He's a friend! We're not from this world! Whatever history this universe has with you doesn't apply to us!"

The woman slowly began lowering her sword, now having a curious look on her face.

"You're from... another universe... t-too?!"

Emily lowered her weapon, but unlike the woman she was aiming at, she did so out of pure confusion.

"I'm sorry, what?!"

The Inkling woman slowly stood back up, keeping her hands in the air.

"I will pulled out of my reality by this world's Bolton."

"Bolton?!"

Vincent asked before putting the pieces together in his mind instantly.

"Wait... that fire man out there is Bolton?!"

The woman nodded.

"He communicated with me. He told me that he killed the Splat Force in this world at the power plant on the outskirts of the Splat Lands."

"The final battle against Bolton... we lost?"

Emily asked her.

The woman nodded once again.

"The damage he took from the fight were severe, and his gifts were slowly killing him. He turned to the Book Of The Damned and it tranformed him into what you see now."

She informed them.

"He decimated the rest of the world that didn't fall into his order and set base at this castle. He fell deeper and deeper into the Book Of The Damned until he gained a new type of power, one that could will anything into existence no matter the boundaries, hence why I'm here."

Jay cleared his throat.

"I'm sorry, b-but what would Bolton want with you??"

The woman looked straight at Jay as the next five words answered almost every question they had.

"Because, I was his wife."

"Helena Court."

Vincent said, giving the other two her name.

"She was killed at the Battle Of Baxter Village, leading Bolton to go down the path he did."

"That's funny."

Helena said before explaining her story.

"Back in my world, it was Bolton who died saving me."

"I don't get it."

Emily commented, confused.

"If he had all that power, why couldn't he just bring her back."

"He did that in our world. It wasn't the real Helena, from what I've learned."

Vincent answered before looking back at Helena.

"How long have you been here?"

"About five days, why?"

"Yeah, checks out..."

Vincent mumbled to himself before answering Helena.

"Let's just say that the multiverse has gone to squit recently, an-"

All of a sudden, everyone in the room went silent after hearing loud echoy groans coming from the hallway outside followed by a whisper.

"Hellllllll-lena..."

"It's him! We have to move, now!"

Helena exclaimed in alarm before quickly grabbing her scattered sword before running out of the room, the other three followed on from behind.

Upon entering the hallway, the four of them were greeted by this universe's Bolton Vulcan. Helena unleashed both of her swords.

"FALL BACK!"

Vincent yelled as he, Emily, and Jay all ran past her. Seeing this as a sign, Helena followed from behind.

As they were running, Jay tripped on a bit of rubble, causing him to fall flat on his face and sprain his ankle. Just as he was getting back up, Bolton caught up to him.

The fires from Bolton latched itself onto Jay's body, causing him severe pain and suffering. He knew that time was up for him. Hoping to get a less painful death, Jay grabbed the gun from his holster and tried to aim it at his head, the burning pain was too much for him to bare.

None of the other three could do anything to help. They watched as Jay was pulled closer and closer towards the center of the fire before his entire body went up in flames. Vincent was the first to turn and run.

"KEEP GOING!"

He shouted. As the others ran away, Bolton fired a massive fireball at the ceiling up ahead, blocking the exist and causing the roof to begin falling down. Panicking, Vincent frantically looked around before seeing a small age down a slope leading to an open door.

"THIS WAY!"

As they desperately ran down the slope, they avoided getting hit by the falling ceiling. Both Vincent and Helena managed to get to safety, but Emily was falling behind. Desperate to catch up, she went into her swim form to jump over the rubble, but as she was in the air, she was struck in the face by a piece of the falling ceiling, causing her to go out of her swim form and back into her Inkling form just as she reached the ground.

She landed on her stomach and bounced off of the ground due to the strong impact, leading her to end up hitting the wall on the opposite side of the door.

Emily began fading in and out of consciousness. Her nose was bleeding from the hit to the face, her right hand was wounded and her Portal Projectiler had been broken in the chaos. She weakly tried to stand back up, but in doing so, placed her injured right hand on her belly, feeling the blood pouring out of her now open wound.

"EMILY! HURRY UP OR HE'LL GET YOU TOO!"

Vincent shouted from across the hallway. Despite the amount of pain that she was no in, Emily had no choice but to move forward as quickly as she could handle.

B A C K O N E A R T H 1 7 0 3 . . .

After what felt like ages, Rex returned to the group and Frederick's weapon and ammo in hand.

"Sorry for the wait, got a bit side tracked."

He said as he handed Frederick his items. The moment the items were out of his hand, Rex seemed to be moved a lot quicker as he was instantly on his Portal Projectiler.

Platinum picked up on his strange behaviour at an instant.

"Dad, are you okay?"

Instantly looking up at her, Rex smiled, the smile lingering on for a couple of seconds longer then what felt natural.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just want to get this done with."

He reassured her. Something felt off about her father, but for now, Platinum decided to hold back on asking questions, choosing to ask them after this whole thing was over. Rex quickly glanced at Rex.

"I ran into Jamie. He's a Commander now, huh?"

"Yeah, and a pretty damn good one at that."

Frederick replied.

"Took over your position after the war ended. He originally felt bad about it because of the guilt he had from not being able to save you, but he went through with it in the end."

Rex smirked.

"That's good."

He replied before going back to his Portal Projectiler and making the finishing touches, Platinum was doing the same.

"Okay, everything's set up. Platinum, you take your mother, and I'll take Fred."

"Sounds like a plan."

Platinum replied before facing her mother, though she quickly turned back as she felt concerned for her father.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, sweetheart, don't worry!"

Rex reassured her. Though she still had doubts, she elected to drop the whole thing entirely for the time being.

Both Platinum and Rex fired their Portal Projectilers at Alyssa and Frederick respectively and activating their suits. The latter of the two was amazed.

"Wow... this is unbelievable..."

Frederick whispered in awe as the suit finished forming around him.

Rex smirked.

"Trust me, Fred, you ain't seen nothing yet!"

Rex and Platinum set their uni-jump watches destinations to go back to their home world. Once done, they connected their destinations to Alyssa and Frederick, syncing them up. The four of them huddled together for a couple of seconds before the portal took them away.

B A C K O N E A R T H 8 1 7 1 . . .

Vincent burst down the door leading outside exit. He and Helena ran forward towards the steal black gate, turning into their respective swim forms and super jumping over it.

Emily slowly followed from behind weakly, holding onto her bleeding belly, both hands covered in blood. She tried turning into her swim forms, but she wasn't able to. Her energy was slowly draining as she lost more and more blood. She ran straight into the gate, clenching it tightly, unable to get through or climb over it.

Scared for her life, she slowly turned around, staring directly the firery presence of Bolton Vulcan, who marched towards her slowly. Emily pressed her back against the gate, shivering and squirming for her life.

Thankfully, both Helena and Vincent came back for her, with the former of the two cutting the gate around Emily with her two swords so that she was able to get through and escape.

The three of them crossed the bridge and made it onto the rocky hills. Unable to keep up with the others nor keep her balance, Emily tripped over, falling directly onto her face, letting out quiet yelp as she hit the ground.

She looked back and saw Bolton get closer and closer to her. She looked terrified, there was no possible way that she could escape him, not in the state that she was in, but that didn't stop her from trying.

Emily rose back onto her feet and began running again, only for the fire to finally catch up to, and attach itself to her. Emily let out a violently loud scream as the fire made with her.

Vincent and Helena stopped running and both turned to see the horrors.

"EMILY!"

Vincent cried out before running after her, only for Bolton to send a fireball hurdling towards Vincent, landing on the ground just ahead of him and blowing him back.

B O O M ! ! !

With tears in her eyes, Emily knew that nothing could be done. With all of her might and willpower, she took off her uni-jump watch and chuckled it to Helena.

"PUT IT ON!"

She cried to her.

"P-P-PUT IT ON AND GO HOME!"

Hearing Emily's cries, Helena quickly put the watch on. She feared that she had no idea what to do, but after hearing Emily's cries to go home, and followed by her seeing the home button, Helena managed to work it out. She pressed the button and activated the suit. Within seconds, she was taken away in a portal.

As more and more fire attached itself to Emily, Vincent ran back to the scene and began firing his weapon at the fire in a desperate attempt to free Emily.

B A N G , B A N G ! ! !

Each of the bullets fired were instantly evaporated into nothing.

"NO!"

Vincent cried out before throwing his weapon to the side. And then started charging towards them, hoping to free her himself. Emily knew that what Vincent was doing wouldn't work, in fact, it would mean the end of both of them.

However, Emily had one last trick up her sleeve. Grabbing two Splat Bombs from her utility belt, Emily forcibly turned herself around in a flash, and using her right arm, activated both of the bombs and holding them right into Bolton's face.

"Boom."

She muttered as the bombs detonated.

B O O M , B O O M ! ! !

B O O M ! ! !

The two bombs exploded, destroyed the firery presence of Bolton Vulcan, and thus creating a third massive explosion made entirely out of fire. The force of the explosion knocked Vincent all the way down a hill, knocking him out.

When he came to, only ten minutes had past. He slowly sat up, scratching the back of his head, trying to recall what had happened, and that's when it hit him. He sprung back on her feet and rushed up the hill.

"EMILY!"

Vincent cried out, running as fast as he could until he finally reached the top.

There she was, lying on her back, lifeless eyes staring up at the sky. Her Splat Force gear had been burnt and ruined, as was the beanie on her head and the scarf around her neck. Blood poured from his nose and her belly. Her right arm had been blown off entirely from the explosion. The rest of her body was covered in burn marks.

Vincent rushed to Emily's side, holding her head onto his knees.

"Emily... E-Emily, p-please, please!"

He cried and he begged, but nothing could be done now. She was gone.

"Dammit..."

He cried silently, letting out small whimpers and gasps as he held Emily's head in her lap. He slowly shut her eyes so that she was resting. He stayed with her and cried. He punched the rocky ground with his right fist, not flinching from the pain he caused himself. His worst fear had come true, and now, Emily was gone...
