Here are some great tips from The Hunter
We've all been there. We a roleplay, post our starters and maybe a few replies, and everything seems like it's going well. Then, the chat dies of inactivity two days later. The unfortunate truth is that this is a common occurrence, but can be prevented by keeping your audience engaged.
First, it must be acknowledged what makes an rp in the first place. Traditionally, an rp is made of three pieces, all of which are important to keeping the chat alive: An active host, active participants, and a good plot. Generally, without one, a roleplay will not succeed.
With this in mind, neither the host nor participants will be active without a good plot.
If all an rp has is a "premise" in place of a plot, it is destined to fail shortly after it begins because the host will have no idea what to do next. For example, a "premise" would be something like "Attack on Titan Season 1 rp" and nothing else.
While the host would expect all participants to be familiar with season 1, it says nothing about what the rp will actually entail. At what point will the rp begin? Does the rp have to strictly follow the events of season 1 or can it be an AU? Will the rp focus on the Trost arc, the 57th scouting expedition, or another event entirely? As you can see, a premise alone gives little room for an rp to blossom because there are so many unknowns.
Yes, most roleplays go beyond the example provided in "season 1 rp". Still, it doesn't change that most hosts don't really know where they want the rp to go beyond the beginning. This is why so many roleplays fail; the plot isn't developed.
One way to change this is to map out your plot with detail, from start to finish. Of course, do not share more than what is necessary to your participants.
This may not work for everyone, as having a set layout for your rp may become dull as the host, but at least have an idea of how you want your plot to unravel.
A template that works (though is not required) is dividing your plot into acts. For example, "Act 1, Act 2, then Act 3," with each act having event(s) that both function to define the act and transition into the next one. Lastly, if you do decide to follow this format, try to vary the event(s) within and between each act. For example, if one act follows a tense military meeting that declares war on a neighboring nation, the next can see the characters lighten the mood on the voyage.
Thank you for reading, and I hope this helps!

Here are some amazing tips by Ackerman
My number one suggestion for always keeping a roleplay interesting is always adding in major plotwists. For example in a romance roleplay, betrayal is one of my suggested techniques to keep the roleplaying interesting. Not only are you adding drama to your love story, but you're also making both characters endure other feelings while also strengthening their bond. For action roleplays, usually a tragic death will intensify the roleplay in ways that it will open the rp towards comfort/hurt.
I also suggest, to make a list beforehand the roleplay starts and make small notes on what either individual will be contributing to the story in order to let things flow smoothly. But if both roleplayer's 'wing it' I also suggest taking small breaks in between the rolepaly to discuss the next series of events for both characters to be kept engaged and fully motivated.

Here are some fantastic tips from Jay
~How to keep a roleplay interesting?~
Let me start off, I'm technically good with this, but I can give you a clue. We know roleplaying tends to get boring or no longer a good grasp on things. Making a roleplay moment interesting may help.
~How would I make a roleplay interesting?~
I base my response off my partner's response, so it's kind of hard for me to interact, not to mention I phrase my characters in past tense. You're probably asking what does it mean to base my response off my partner's? This gets me roleplay block easy, but it's went I take some of the context of where we are and what we are doing, making them the leader and me the follower. It depends on the roleplay for it to interest me.
Example: Horror
Horror is my favorite roleplay, though it doesn't normally suit me. Adding detail is one thing another is planting jokes. In scary situations, I tend to add humor. This would make my partner laugh and continue on to being serious. It also helps with making things interesting.
Example: Romance
Romance roleplays is a big thing here, so I know a thing or two on what to do. You can add a lot of things in your roleplay response, as long as your partner is fine with it. That's a big thing people need to understand. If you add a little drama to the roleplay that's fine, but please don't take over. Don't be very controlive. That is one thing people hate and it takes the fun out of roleplaying.

Have you ever had a conversation that was completely one-sided? Where you have thoughtful responses and genuine questions only to be met with one-word responses? If you've never been in such a situation, consider yourself lucky. The rest of us however all understand the feeling of annoyance quite well. Much like how one word responses make a conversation hard and annoying, the similar principle applies to roleplays! Roleplays are a team effort and the easiest yet most effective way to keep them interesting is to give your partner(s) something to work with.
For example, let's say two characters are going out for a drink. Depending on the literacy levels of the people participating, they may include details that the other person can use. Person A and person B both have a responsibility to keep it interesting and fun. If person A only ever replays with what person B said, it will get boring fast.
Roleplaying is one big game of improv... So improvise! Have a character drop their plate for a comedy of errors or perhaps they must run away from assassin's. Use the phrase "yes, and" whenever you Roleplay to not only acknowledge what your partner added, but to then add more!
In conclusion: it takes 2 to tango. Give your Roleplay partner to work with while fully utilizing what they give you in return. Never be afraid to improvise a storyline! Most importantly, have fun!

Here are some great tips made by Todoroki
Keeping a roleplay interesting can be more difficult than it may sound, especially if you don’t have a thought-out plot. It’s easy to find yourself repeating responses and not really advancing the story. It’s important to have an end goal in mind when writing so your character has something to work towards and achieve whether that be advancing a romantic relationship with another character or defeating and enemy in battle. Getting side-tracked from this end goal is fine and can make the roleplay more interesting, just make sure it adds to the overall plot and character development otherwise it can become dull to write about.
Character interactions are key to keeping a roleplay alive. Make sure to keep your partner involved in the story, without doing this you may as well be writing a book instead of roleplaying. When interacting, make sure to keep character conversations interesting too, some ways to do this are: revealing more about your character and their past, creating tension/arguments or just joking around, not everything has to be serious!
Another thing to is that nothing is perfect, let your characters fight with each other, let them fail. Don’t make the end goal too easy to reach, let things slowly develop over time. Don’t try and rush the roleplay, keep things moving at a steady pace, not too fast nor too slow. Hope you found these tips useful, happy roleplaying!

Here are some excellent tips from Levi
There a different options to keep your roleplay from getting boring. At first there is the possibility to add an or another antagonist to your plot. This might not seem to have such an big effect but it do give you a lot of options. If this antagonist has a backstory with other characters it can spice up the whole roleplay.
Another tip is to add a plots twist to your existent roleplay. If its a romance rp make them go through some kind of crises. Dont aim straight for an happy ending since this isnt how it goes usual anyways.
My last tip would be to add a complete new plot to your current idea. There are many plots you can combine. For example school x police plots (where you first meet in school and later when you're at your new working place) or mafia x supernatural plots (where non human creatures are discovered) and many more. Just be creative.

Here are some sweet tips by Reina
Hey guys! It's me again, Reina at your service to give you some tips according to the topic given. So, how do we keep a roleplay interesting despite of the roleplayers having their own metal block in writing?
First, try thinking about a plot twist that can occur in the middle of your roleplay. Either discuss it with you partner or let them be curious on what's gonna happen that will make their interest focused in that. The plot twist can be a surprising event, angst, action, or sudden backstory.
Second, make sure to give changes into the plot if you and your partner started to think of your story going nowhere. It also needs a heavy chemistry within your characters since they will be the one in charged on the story so how will you make that a great plot line. think of the aftermath of your roleplay as well so you can think of other things to reply after. Don't also make your partner hanging since their interest in your story might be forgotten about them.
Third, in a roleplay, interacting with the muses of the characters is really important. Make sure both of you are comfortable with that certain plot line. Think of something that perked up your interest or maybe combine your ideas along with your partner's, there you two would have your interest hight up even more.
That's all for today! I hope that helps up a bit from your roleplays! thank you, 'til next time!! adios! <3

These fantastic tips were made by Zoey Castle
Sometimes keeping a Roleplay interesting can be hard to do sometimes if you are feeling and unmotivated or sometimes you don't know what to say to keep the roleplaying going well I today I am here to help you with some tips that will keep your role-plays interesting and fun.
When roleplaying you want both you and your Roleplay partner to have a good time and a lot of times all good roleplays start with a good plot. A plot can be very important to a Roleplay as it can help keep things interesting as for example their is one plot that I have in mind for a Roleplay and it is around a new oc that I am in the works of making it would be a very interesting plot as it would test the limits of both her and her friends abilities so a plot can be very important when keeping a Roleplay interesting because it is the first step into creating a fun and exciting Roleplay.
Another thing you want to do to keep Roleplay interesting is too communicate with one another. When roleplaying you want to make sure that you and your Roleplay partner are communicating with one another as the saying always goes is that communication is key and when roleplaying it can be very important as if you don't communicate then the Roleplay can become duel and broaing as from experience a lack of communication can lead to a slow and overall boring Roleplay as both parties need to communicate in order to keep things going and interesting for the Roleplay as you both want to have fun and have an exciting Roleplay.
One other thing to keep a Roleplay interesting is to make sure that you and your Roleplay partner come up with a really good setting for the Roleplay. Similar to my first tip having a proper setting for a Roleplay can be very important as from experience I have Roleplayed different plots and gernes like cyberpunk Roleplay, murder mystery, Adventure, and ect. For example Au Roleplay is very popular because it can allow for different types of reality or different types of scenarios such as a beach Roleplay where characters can have a fun day at the beach and share some fun times with each other or a crossover Roleplay for example have the attack on titan characters in the world of my hero academia which would make a Roleplay really fun and interesting.
I hope that these tips help you and your Roleplay partner keep your role-plays interesting as to me roleplaying is all about having fun and being able to come up with some fun and exciting roleplays is always so much fun to do.

Here are some very helpful tips by Leon
Hello everyone, it is I once again, and in this tips post I'll explain how to keep a roleplay interesting! In my tips I'll explain how to keep interesting the roleplays that aren't strictly based on Attack on Titan. Hope these tips will help at least a little bit in your future roleplays! Good luck and have fun :)
Firstly, what I personaly always do is to add as much as possible in your replies. What I mean is not just to put one line and make it the entire reply to someone else's entire five paragraphs. Make as much conversation with your fellow roleplayer's character. For example, the person you're roleplaying with writes a lot of paragraphs, and their final question is "So, how have you been?" the worst thing someone can do is simply reply with " "Good, you?" He said sighing" and that's it.
No, that's wrong!
What you want to do is to write a little bit of detail around your character, the surroundings, how are they feeling, and et cetera, then say "I'm doing quite well, how about you?" Don't be lazy in your replies, add more detail!
I hope these tips, like I said in the beginning, help you in your future roleplays. If anybody needs ANY, and I mean ANY help in roleplay, my PMs are open. Send me a message and feel free to ask any questions you have about roleplaying. I'm always here to help!

Here are some amazing tips by Skye
Hey guys, Its me Skye, here to sprinkle some roleplay tips! So lets get started y'all!
Know your characters!
Just because you’ve decided on a Canon Character or Original Character (OC), that doesn’t mean you should RP immediately.
If you’ve chosen a Canon Character (CC), read and watch everything you can to understand what defines who they are in the fandom. Of course, you can stray away from some of their qualities. But their core traits should be there when you RP.
This also is so you get 100% if the character right, Eg. Levi Ackerman's personality, as we all know he isn't a teddy bear!
×××
Shake it up with the conflict!
Keep it up in the storyline with some disagreements, some fighting, physical fists or verbal-! This will create story paths etc!
×××
HAVE FUN!
You’re spending your time weaving your storylines with your partner and becoming someone else for a little while.
