Now, let’s move onto the information of the Forbidden Content!

Hey there! Today I will be explaining what an off-topic post/wiki, and chat is, and what to do if you see one!

What is an Off-Topic post, wiki, or chatroom?

So, this is one of the policies that are tied to the community guidelines. Off-Topic posts are something that occur every now and then, and I’m about to help you understand what something off-topic is on this Amino! If you come across a post (blog, wiki, story, quiz, question, poll, or image) or chatroom, and you see that there is nothing that is tied to the topic of AOT-not even an image that relates to AOT, that is considered Off-Topic. There has to be at least an image, mention of AOT, or anything else related to AOT in order for it to be considered on topic. If you see a chatroom, and has nothing to do with AOT, (ex: ‘Title: chat | description: Have fun’) and theres not even an image that has something AOT related, that is also considered Off-Topic. If you come across a wiki, and there is not a picture of something involving AOT, or there isn’t a description that says something with AOT in it as well as a picture, that is Off-Topic. For example; ‘Title: my Chat’ Description: *Link to chat* Background/cover photo: *A dog*. All of this goes with posting a question, quiz, or any of the listed posts that I wrote down above near the start of the paragraph.

Why do we restrict Off-Topic content?

Off-Topic content is forbidden because this is an AOT based community. We love seeing new ing every single day, and everyone getting together and talking about AOT, or even Role Playing! It’s better to keep everything on here AOT related because we don’t want it to be a place where AOT would hardly exist and no one would talk about it. It wouldn’t be as good of a community it is now if we didn’t restrict Off-Topic content. :)

When it comes to Holiday Posts, it may be confusing to some who aren’t aware of our rules on the topic. You may have seen a holiday post at some point and decided to post one yourself later on and it got disabled.

When are Holiday Posts Allowed?

Depending on when the holiday post is submitted, it may be considered off topic. Holiday posts are allowed to be posted on the day of, two days before and two days after. This is so there aren’t any misunderstands when it comes to timezones. If you decide to post them at any time other than that, your content will be disabled due to its irrelevance to the community. You can post about any holiday of course, as long as it is legit.

Why are they considered off topic otherwise?

AOT Amino is a fairly large community with over 140k . Many s here also celebrate the same major holidays, so the mass posting is bound to happen, but the slots given for posting help by limiting the spam to only the selected days and overall help with keeping it organized and controlled.

What is advertising?

The definition of advertising on social platforms like amino is, going to different communities and advertising your own community or social platform. Now with that out of the way let's get into it.

What happens if one s?

Advertising is something that can have a variety of punishments depending on how it's done, or how much someone is doing it. Now advertising on this amino is not allowed at all. Now that means if someone on this amino s their Amino they'll likely get a strike whether they do it through pms, posts, their wall, ect.

Now after you get a strike or a warning if you again multiple times you'll get banned from the amino.

What is okay to have?

Now to clear this up crediting is not advertising! For example someone used a wall template from a different amino and they linked who made it, that's totally fine! Crediting someone on a different amino for a template, art, edit any stuff like that is fine! Just always make sure to clarify that it's credit and have a link to the creators profile on that Amino.

Say you want to link your social media (Twitter, YouTube, Instagram,ect) on your wall that's totally fine! Just don't push it by pming , Making constant posts about it, or anything like that and it'll be fine. Anyways that clears up advertising!

Today we’ll be discussing stolen or traced art. You may be asking how to tell if art is traced or stolen. I'm here today to help understand what exactly that entails.

How to tell if art is stolen/traced

Stolen/traced can have a large variety. Some going from ‘art made by me!’ with an obvious signature from someone else on the cover to a piece of art that has a high level of detail. One way to find out if the art is stolen/traced is by finding a similar image or an exact replica and go to an app where you can overlay the images as well as bring the opacity down to see how said artwork is stolen/traced. A great app to use for this is PicsArt. If a lot of the lines seem to match up, that would be considered as traced which isn't allowed on our amino.

What to do if art is stolen/traced

It’s best to make sure the actually has stolen or traced art in their post before it is flagged. You wouldn’t want to falsely begin to flag posts because you would only end up getting in trouble as false flagging isn’t allowed.

Consequences of stolen/traced art

If caught having stolen/traced art, your post will be disabled. There have been instances where s have tried telling s their work isn't traced or stolen. With these cases, if the lines match up extremely well, it is considered tracing and proof will be provided.

How to avoid stealing and having traced content

As for how to avoid this, referencing a piece of artwork is okay but tracing the lines isn’t ok. It is also ideal that you provide a reference in your post if you have used one! Claiming someone else’s work isn’t good as well and will result in your post being disabled unless credited properly.

The guidelines exist for a reason, and like any other amino, there will be rules to follow. Not only that, but there are rules that also counts as forbidden content. What is one example of forbidden content? Well, not content crediting. Let’s dive into that.

What is Content Crediting?

Content crediting is when a posts content containing art that is not their own, and credits said artist.

An example is when an editor posts an edit and the art isn’t their own, they have to credit the artist of the art they used in their edit.

Another is when one uses art for a cover image, they have to credit that art since it’s not their own.

Why is Content Crediting a thing?

The main reason is because this prevents others from stealing art work that isn’t originally made by them. Not only that, others will also know where the art came from and can find the artist for themselves to enjoy and see. Crediting is something not many people usually do and it’s best to credit so the artists of the original piece get the recognition they deserve for making their own amazing content.

What happens if you don’t credit content?

Those who don’t credit have 24 hours to find the original creator and if needed, they can ask others (including a ) for help so they can find the creator in time. After 24 hours, then the post will be disabled due to not getting the credit in on time. You can get your post re-enabled once credit is given, though.

How do you avoid your post being disabled?

Simply credit the original creator! It’s nothing too hard to do, if you’re not sure who the creator is, feel free to ask a for assistance. If content doesn’t belong to you and you reblog it, please make sure to credit instead of saying the content actually was made by you.

Hello! Today we will be discussing about art reposting.

Why is art reposting bad?

Most artist post their art to actually show them because they're simply proud of the art they created. We respect all artists out there. So having your art reposted and not even being credited is having your own work stolen, and the other person who reposted this might actually have more recognition and praise rather than the original artist.

"But I credited you"

It's nice to be credited, but most artist still do not prefer having their art reposted. When this happens most artist will be putting "do not repost" in the image.

"Artists should be flattered"

I've heard this quite a lot, but it never proves a point because most artist doesnt want the credit and praise to be on someone else. They will get overshadowed and at some point they will be falsely accused saying that they're the one who reposted, when it was simply their art. Reposting the art pieces without credit is actually a bigger problem than it already is, most artists stop creating content just because of this specific problem.

"It isnt a big deal, I'm just sharing their art"

Most people find it not to be a big deal, but most artist can agree that it truly hurts to see their art be reposted and especially when its traced or stolen. If you are sharing their art to show others how amazingly talented this person is, you'd credit it and ask permission to the artist if you could and simply not claim the art to be yours :).

Why is it forbidden?

Like I said before, we respect all artists here and we know what it feels like to have your art reposted when you asked for it not to be. It's basically like having someone copy your answers on a test and that specific someone gets the praise for being very smart. Now its understandable why we have it forbidden. It steals artwork, takes all the praise that the original artist should be having and theres just no respect at all.

I hope you understand why you shouldn't be reposting any art! We have talented artists in this community as well and we'd like to protect their rights of claiming their own art! Most people dont take it seriously but we most certainly do. Please as well to credit the artists or ask permission.

What is inappropriate content?

Inappropriate Content are things that are 18+, offensive or triggering. Anything that would be considered 18+ are things that are sexual; offensive content are things that would come under hate crime. Triggering content is any sort of gore, abuse or suicide that could harm someone.

Inappropriate Content is anything sexual, nude or inappropriately suggestive. This can be fan art with the characters private’s on display, it could be a rude and suggestive comment. Also in chat rooms these rules also apply, so things that are sexual should not be discussed. Any stories or role plays that are 18+ are also not allowed here on Amino. People should not be using any offensive , such as slurs or even jokes. People can get offended, even if you find it funny. Joking about slurs, race, sex, sexual orientation, gender in an offensive way is not tolerated. Triggering content is things that we do not see in Attack On Titan. There is a huge difference between blood from titans or blood shown from a murder scene or self impact. If this type of gore is posted it should come with a warning sign. Self harm and suicide is not allowed to be posted on amino, no matter the trigger warning. Any sort of abuse should also have a trigger warning, unless it be sexual abuse which is not allowed.

Why is inappropriate content forbidden?

This is mostly because there are young people on this app who should not be exposed to such graphic content. Amino is supposed to be a safe and ive place for all people. Allowing this type of content would be unacceptable. Encouraging offensive behaviour is also very unhealthy for all ages. It makes people feel as if they are allowed to make offensive jokes or say offensive things, where they aren’t. Amino is for everyone, and should have content that is suitable for everyone. Different types of gore, abuse and harm can trigger people and make them very upset, that’s why we avoid posting that or include a warning.

What is Suicidal & Triggering Content?

Suicidal and triggering content is anything that relates to suicidal actions, self harm, or things that could be triggering or offensive to people who have a history with their mental health.

Why isn’t it allowed?

Amino is not supposed to be a place where s are uncomfortable, it is a safe place for all s. Sending images of self harm or talking about suicide may not only trigger a , but could also make them uncomfortable, or even scar them.

What should you do instead?

If you are struggling with your mental health, please feel free to reach out to one of our s and we will gladly provide you with the appropriate crisis hotlines. We are not professionals, nobody on this community is, but we can connect you with people who are.

What is Hate Speech?

Hate Speech comes in many forms. It should be easily interpreted by the name, but hate speech is anything said that is either generally offensive, or rude perhaps. Hate speech could come in the form of Transphobia, Homophobia, Discrimination, Sexism, Racism, ect.

Why is Hate Speech forbidden?

As a kid-friendly platform for ages 13 and up, Amino does not allow hate speech as it promotes many uncalled for topics, as mentioned above. Even if you believe it is a joke, many can take it offensively or in a condescending way.

What happens if Hate Speech is seen?

Hate speech is strictly prohibited throughout Amino as it is stated in Team Amino’s guidelines that any form of slur, that being racial or some other form, isn’t allow. The severity of punishment depends on how complex the situation is. You could easily gain a warning, strike or a ban due to hate speech so it is advised to avoid making jokes about such things within Amino.

When it comes to personal information, many people aren’t actually aware of what may or may not be classified as personal information on amino as a whole. Whether you’re on this community or a different community, personal information tends to not be allowed as it could potentially put you and those close around you in harms way if the information falls into the wrong hands.

What is classified as personal information?

Personal information is information from your real life. Things that are considered personal information are your name, age, phone number, address, pictures of your face and many other things. On amino, you’re allowed to share face reveals, your name and your age. However, the rules may vary depending on the Amino you’re on.

On the AOT Amino, you can share your name and age if you’d like. Many s tend to do that in order for others to know who they’re talking to. Face reveals are allowed but only in your bio and in chats but not as cover images or backgrounds in public chats. Face reveals ARE NOT allowed in posts other than tiktoks and memes in order to protect your safety. Sharing things like your phone number or address is not allowed either as you never truly know who you’re sending these things to.

We all know that flashing images can cause seizures, this is why we don't allow it because seizures can happen to anyone, at any age.

What is seizures?

Let's do a bit of explaining, seizures come from epilepsy, in other words epileptic seizure. Specifically, if we talk about flashing images, it would be called photosensitive epilepsy. Seizures is when a sudden burst of electricity happens on the brain, causing loss of consciousness and physical convulsion, at this point it's pretty obvious why we take it seriously.

What is considered flashing images?

Pictures/videos wherein there is a strong ray of light beaming and flashing fastly. A good example that helps you understand is places like discos or night partys where the disco light takes over the dark room with different flashing colors.

Why is it forbidden?

Because we simply care about everyone's health and we respect that, flashing images can cause serious harm towards someone, it's better to be safe than sorry. Flashing images can cause seizures in an blink of an eye, and sometimes we don't notice the signs at all. It's very triggering and dangerous, this is why its forbidden. Think carefully when you images that is flashing strongly, it can affect someone else's health strongly and negatively.

When it comes to ranting, many of us do it in order to express how we feel about a certain topic and such. But not a lot of people are aware as to what ranting is.

What is ranting?

It’s when someone is upset about something and talks about it in detail and as to why they’re angry about it. When it comes to ranting on this community, s tend to rant about the series, the characters, situations that have happened on this community, its s and the s. Sometimes our feelings get the better of us and we rant more than we necessarily mean to.

What is the line for ranting?

When it comes to ranting, it’s not really allowed within the community. You can rant about the series and share an opinion but you can’t rant about another or the s. By ranting, we usually mean in posts and public chats. If others can be effected by your words, it’s isn’t allowed. Ranting in private chats isn’t allowed either if your purpose for ranting is to demean others.

Some rants are allowed but only if it’s not used in a rude or disrespectful way. Again, rants about the community and it’s s aren’t allowed. But ranting about the series and how you feel is perfectly fine as long as it remains respectful!
