What anime streaming service do you think is underrated or overrated?
Personally, I feel like crunchyroll is overrated, though it is the most popular from what I’ve seen. But maybe that’s just because I hate having ads! My go to is aniwave for when I’m in the mood to watch anime, plus it has donghua on there too, so a win-win for me.

What anime streaming service do I think is overrated or underrated? For me, the billion-dollar company called Netflix. Netflix is supposed to be a popular streaming service that offers a wide range of TV shows, movies, documentaries, and other forms of entertainment for us s to enjoy on a daily basis during our everyday lives, allowing us to watch content whenever we want without feeling the need for the limitations of traditional TV schedules.
As for why I think Netflix is overrated, there are so many opinions out there as to why Netflix is overrated, but here are a few reasons why I think Netflix is an overrated anime streaming service:
1. Subscription cost tier: Netflix is based on a subscription service. When you have the Subscription cost tier, the cost of a monthly subscription tier can add up over time, making some people or many people feel that the cost of Netflix is too high compared to the value that they see on the service. When ads are also involved in the service option as well.
2. Content quality: While Netflix has a vast library of content, some people or a lot of people do not like that Netflix does not have the genres in order. It feels like it's scattered all over the place and not in the right genre it's supposed to be in, especially in anime. Every time I try to find an anime that I want to watch, I can't find it because it's not in the right genre where it's supposed to be, And it frustrates me a lot, adding more fuel to the fire for me as well.
3.Competition with the rise of other services like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, and others makes me feel that Netflix is not as unique as it once was, especially when it comes to anime. It feels like it has become less and less, and also waiting too long for an episode to come onto the platform. It feels like it's a waiting game, and I don't have time for it. Also, the competition in the streaming service industry has increased, leading me to question in my head: Is Netflix truly the best option for my never-ending, loving entertainment needs?
4.Original content: While Netflix is known around the world for its original content, not all of its original TV shows or movies may resonate with some viewers. Some people may feel that the hype around Netflix's original content is overly exaggerated, leading to the perception of the Netflix platform as overrated.
It is also very important to note that perceptions of whether Netflix is considered overrated or underrated can be subjective and vary from person to person around the world. Wherever you are, I feel strongly that people should take time to enjoy the convenience and variety of content, whether it be anime or any other genre, on the platform that the service offers. That's why I think Netflix is overrated as an anime platform service.
I personally think a website i use is underrated, as i don’t hear a lot of people comment on it. As of now it’s called HiAnime, but has been previously known as Zoro and Aniwatch. Not only is it free, but it even contains animes that aren’t available on Crunchyroll and Netflix, and from what i’ve heard recent anime episodes come out faster on HiAnime than the other two apps. As someone who loves anime, having a free easy to sign in website to use is very convenient (plus you don’t even have to sign in if you don’t want to)

Netflix and Crunchyroll are pretty underrated in my opinion. Everyone usually goes to Hulu nowadays from my understanding. Tbh Netflix is a good place to start as it doesn’t have a huge selection that’ll overwhelm you. But Crunchyroll is a good choice for when you wanna browse around and watch all kinds of shows. So I think Netflix and Crunchyroll are quite underrated.
bili bili I guess and Crunchyroll
HBO is underrated. Now hbo isn’t a go too for anime shows but they do invest in anime movies. They also have all the studio ghibli movies as well as other anime movies one might not have found. I think it’s a perfect place for anime movies and I find myself there a lot when I want to watch one.
Another one I really like is prime video simply because it has every anime you can’t find on a streaming app. Sometimes you might have pay or it’s included with the prime hip. It great if you just want to find new anime to watch as well and find it elsewhere. They have a huge selection from unknown to retro to the most recent popular shows. Crunchyroll add on +hbo add on gives you basically everything included with the subscription.
Hulu also has a good selection of anime. A lot of the ones that Netflix doesn’t have. But I think when it comes to Hulu and Netflix people just pick one or the other so you might miss out on what Hulu has to offer especially there exclusive anime shows are really good. Hulu has been a formidable opponent against Netflix for a while and there selection remains good
