Greetings, fellow anime enthusiasts!
How often have we watched a villain's downfall, only to wonder what was truly going through their mind? The most controversial characters in anime are often the most complex and fascinating figures in their stories.
We see their actions through the eyes of others, but what if we could hear directly from them? What if they could explain themselves, defend their choices, and reveal the true motivations behind their most controversial deeds?
Welcome to Villain's Confession, where you'll step into the mind of anime's most divisive characters and give them the voice they never had.
THE CHALLENGE
Choose a controversial villain from any anime, manga, or related media and write a creative confession from their perspective. This isn't just about analyzing what they did—it's about becoming the character and writing in their voice to explain why their actions, however shocking, made perfect sense to them.
Your confession could take many forms:
• A personal journal or diary entry
reflecting on their actions
• A letter to the protagonist or someone
important to them
• A deathbed confession or final monologue
• A manifesto explaining their worldview
and justifying their methods
• An inner dialogue revealing their true thoughts
during a pivotal moment
Whatever format you choose, your villain should defend their most controversial actions while revealing the deeper motivations, traumas, and beliefs that drove them. Make us understand—maybe even sympathize with—the character that everyone loves to condemn.
CHARACTER SELECTION
Your chosen character should meet at least two or three of these criteria:
• Made decisions with severe consequences
that divided audience opinion
• Acted in ways that betrayed relationships,
expectations, or established values
• Committed actions widely considered
controversial, selfish, or ethically questionable
• Had complex motivations behind choices
that others viewed as unforgivable
• Left a lasting impact through decisions
that fundamentally altered their world
The character can be from any position in their story—protagonist, antagonist, or ing character. What matters is that they've taken actions controversial enough to warrant a confession and justification.
RULES
1. Follow the [guidelines]
2. No plagiarism or AI usage.
3. One entry per person –
(can be split into two parts if necessary.)
4. Your entry must have a minimum of 700 words.
5. Character must be from an existing anime,
manga, manhwa, or webtoon listed on MAL.
6. Your chosen character must be widely considered morally
corrupt or evil within their story, whether they are a
protagonist, antagonist, or ing character. Protagonist
villains (like Light Yagami) are acceptable, but traditional
anti-heroes who maintain a core moral code despite
questionable methods are not eligible for this event.
7. Write creatively from the villain's
perspective—entries should be in first person.
8. Include a clear spoiler warning at the beginning of your
entry, as confessions will inevitably reveal major plot points.
9. Include the hashtag #VillainsConfession
in your entry to be counted.

Just wondering if this event has been forgotten lmao
Ig mine's the only submission so far. (And probably gonna be the shortest one too :skull: )
Can it be a story or a round table discussion of villains talking to each other and justifying things.
If yes, can I add a comedic spin by being there and talking to them myself.
Lastly can we do multiple villain confessions as a list. Certain villains aren't very talkative so word count could be an issue so having multiple would help.
Wtf is wrong with the mods and the lack of response. I even commented on the dude's wall asking for an answer but nothing. I want to write and there isn't much time left.
The blog asks for one villain's confession. You're free to write it in any creative format as long as you stick to one villain's confession
I can use character from manhwa right? Like can I use a villian/bad character from : operation true love?
As long as they're from a anime/manga/manwha, a villain and meet the character selection

Okayyokayy
Istg if someone does Gr*ffith 🪦
He just made some mistakes, he's not a bad guy...
The thing is, Griffith isn't bad, it's Femto that was the true villain.
