AH
ANOTHER ONE
AND IM GENUINELY SURPRISED
The reason will come later but for noW I'm doing something a little different uvu
As you in part 2 I received my ODM harness/straps and for anyone who's looked into those as cosplay, will know from research or first hand expirience that
They fall off...
ReALLY easily too
Especially the thigh belts
And as someone who's expirienced anD has done my research on this cosplay, i OFC needed to fix this problem.
So noW I'll show you guys how I fixed my thigh belt straps and why I did it the way I did uvu
[_Before we go into it real quick I just wanted to say that yES the next thing arrived which I will talk about later and yes I'll touch on plans for the rest of my cosplay as I adjust things and polish it, I'll provide tips that I've learnt to you guys too as we go along so from now on this series will delve into what you can do to personalise your cosplay to make sure it's how you want it and that it's as comfortable as it can be uwu_]
OKAY
 LEG  BELTS
Some people say that you should patch little loops of fabric to your pants so you can thread the belts through so they'll stay
I decided (for authenticity sake and cause I have skinny legs and a thigh gap) to attach Velcro instead to both the inside and outside of my legs with matching sides for the belts

I didn't really show the pants here buT later on you'll see that I did the same thing here but on my jeans when I'm wearing them and I'll explain what I did uvu
So basically this Velcro is pretty standard I guess, it has a sticky back but personally that's not enough to keep them in place so about 3 snapped needles later I tacked them on as best I could

A 'tack' by the way is a really quick sewing technique, the way I did it was to keep going in and out from the same side each time (if the thread was coming out through the bottom I'd go back through the bottom to the top and then through the top down to the bottom etc)
And I would leave a gap, so it would look a little something like this↓
- - - - - - - -
But on one side it would appear more continuous with no gaps, doesn't matter on which side in this case since the thread or velcro wouldn't be seen

That's the end result!!!
If you want more info on tacking cause I'm not good at explaining here's a link to a tutorial uwu
For the pants I sewed the rough side of the Velcro on, since those will need more security I sewed just a straight stitch going back each time I went forward for extra strength!!
I should warn you that this took a lOnG tImE
Probably a good 5 hours for 8 strips of Velcro each, I stress that if you were to do it this way take your time!! Cause like I mentioned before I snapped 3 needles cause I got a bit impatient on the straps so I was lucky to have more than 3 to work with,
I also recommend a short and thinner needle for the straps if you're hand sewing, there are other parts of the straps I have to still fix that I'll be using my machine for so I'll do a further explanation on that too when I post about it uvu
The Velcro straps also work brilliantly!!! Though I'll have to hand wash the pants if need be
I haven't done the inside of the belts for my legs as of yet, but I have little white circles of Velcro that I'll probably fit there and I'll mention them later on when I do
And without further or do
This is what I received in the mail today!!!

 OUT  OF  ALL  THINGS  THE  HECKING  BOOTS
they came
WAY
earlier than I expected!!!
I even paid for standard shipping and it came a whole mONTH earlier than what it gave me ITS CRAZY
BUT IM REALLY REALLY REALLY GLAD
CAUSE THESE WERE MY BIGGEST WORRY
I didn't take photos of the packaging cause I was recording it and sending it over to Ana and Tahla on snapchat but it wasn't too exiting
For some reason they didn't come in a box???
They came in a back wrapped in bubble wrap lmao
Like I said these were my biggest worry, I have small feet and long skinny legs so I was worried about getting the size I was in case they didn't go all the way to my knees, in this case the buyer was selling these in European sizes (living in Australia we have the same sizes as the UK so calculated that for women's I'm like a 41 and in men's it's 39 in European) and considering that they were selling them as boots for men AND women with no selection, I did the obvious thing and went in between the two sizes and grabbed a 40
I really recommend doing that, calculating which sizes you'd be in both just to get an average because it turns out that for me they fit
PERFECTLY
FRECKLED JESUS IS ON MY SIDE HOW DID I GET LITERALLY EVERYTHING TO FIT SO NICE IM-

So am I happy??
YES
VERY
The only thing I'll do to the boots is probably weatherproof them just in case, reinforce the sides connecting to the boots itself, add the tassle bits they have??? And chuck in a sole insert for more comfort
GUYS ..
I HAVE A COMPLETE COSPLAY
Again the only extra thing to come is the cloak which should be here soon but P MUCH THIS IS IT AKDHSKBFJEJCJSOFJSKKCJF
In those photos I didn't put my straps on cause I have lots of work to do and I didn't really want to spend several hours in my cosplay only to take it off but I'll put everything on once I adjust everything to how I want them probably closer to the date and HOPEFULLY when my hair is also done uwu
Which brings me to my next point
Will I be doing the actual ODM gear??
Well...
I really hecking hope so :,)
For those who don't know, I'm attending my last year of highschool, and hopefully school forever
I have 3 major projects to complete, which consist of a 4 minute animation, 14 artworks and a whole ass set design with 16 interchangeable sets and all of thoSE with log books/art diaries/project portfolios
Just the simple fact that each school day is 10+ hours long for me I didn't get a lot of time at home, Ive resorted to taking a day off a week at lEAST so I can get these projects done on time
They're due around July-early September so I don't think I'll be able to start building the gear soon, I'll probably start when I have one project left to complete and then spend my time studying and building it (which I'll also blog)
I'm a very creative person and tho I hate projects (at least for school) I think it's necessary for me to work on something that isn't school related so I think I'll enjoy building them for my friends, I'll do it out of foam and paint and hopefully make the swords out of a tough foam or soft plastic, it would be nice uvu
So plans for that happening are under way!! I really want to have the gear done and if anyone has any tips on how to make them and attach them to the straps if love to hear!!
For now since I have everything, I doubt that the cloak needs much attention, I'll make my adjustments and blog all of them so they might help you in your own endeavours uvu, I'm no professional by any means but hopefully you can avoid the same mistakes I will probably make in future ahah
That's it for now aaAAA bit of a long one but important so :,) have a good day ya'll uvu Ty for reading this dumb blog too if you have :hearts:
means a lot
