entry   for   the collaboration event currently

happening with the seven deadly sins amino!

i will say first that i have not actually seen

SDS before, however i was still excited to try

my hand at an entry for this contest! since i

do   not know the characters for the other

series very well, i have focused instead on

AOT   characters   who   i   believe could   be

considered as representations for each of

the sins. of course this is completely up to

personal interpretation, so please do not take

offense if my views differ from your own.

Eren's journey in Attack on Titan is a testament to the transformative power of wrath. Fueled by a desire for freedom and justice, Eren's wrath emerges as a force that propels him beyond the confines of humanity. From the early days of defending his loved ones within the walls to later embracing the terrifying might of the Founding Titan, Eren's wrath evolves into a complex force that questions the very nature of right and wrong.

Similarly, Meliodas, the captain of the Seven Deadly Sins, embodies the sin of wrath literally. His seemingly carefree demeanor hides a tempest of rage. While not terrifying in the same way as Eren's Titan powers, hidden behind an unassuming visage, Meliodas can harness the destructive power of wrath to tremendous results. As the Dragon Sin of Wrath, Meliodas's power escalates exponentially with his anger, making him a formidable force on the battlefield. The intensity of his wrath raises questions about the consequences of unbridled power and the thin line between justice and vengeance.

For both characters, their wrath is a defining force that drives their personal journeys as well as the overarching narratives of their respective series. Examining the impact of their wrath on their respective worlds, Eren's actions reshape the very landscape of Attack on Titan, leaving a profound mark on the story's political and moral landscape. Meliodas's wrath, while also altering the course of events, raises questions about the cyclical nature of revenge and the price of eternity.

Jean's character in Attack on Titan embodies an intriguing manifestation of envy, one masked beneath layers of pride, competitiveness, and a deep desire for recognition. His journey reflects an internal struggle for significance amidst the chaos of a world besieged by Titans. Although he initially expresses a desire to the Military Police and live a life of relative comfort, Jean's envy isn't truly driven by any material possessions. As his arc progresses and he shows his true nature as a protector and leader, we see that it is really a yearning to prove himself and attain a sense of purpose and value that drive his actions within the Survey Corps.

Diane, the Serpent's Sin of Envy in Seven Deadly Sins, presents a similar portrayal of envy rooted in a yearning for acceptance. But unlike Jean, her journey is rooted much more in the emotional impact of her sin. Despite her immense strength and stature, Diane grapples with feeling out of place and seeks acknowledgment and validation for who she is beyond her physical appearance. Her envy is not of malicious intent but arises from a desire to live happily and feel a sense of belonging within a world in which she literally cannot fit. Diane's size is a barrier to being able to share the closeness she desires with the people she loves.

#sashabraus

The sin of gluttony, often associated with excessive indulgence, has diverse expressions when considering a comparison of the characters of Sasha and Merlin. Sasha, known for her love of food in Attack on Titan, portrays the sin of gluttony in a very literal sense. However, her love for food is not merely about senseless indulgence but rather it is rooted in very real survival instincts honed by her upbringing in a scarcity-stricken environment. This gluttonous nature is showcased through endearing moments of enjoyment and appreciation for meals, often amidst dire situations. Her character humanizes the concept of gluttony, portraying it as a means of finding joy and connection in a world wrought with hardship.

Merlin, the Boar's Sin of Gluttony in Seven Deadly Sins, represents a different manifestation of the sin. Her gluttonous nature is not driven by a desire for food but by an insatiable hunger for knowledge, magic, and power. Merlin's unquenchable thirst for learning and mastery of magic drives her to accumulate and consume vast amounts of information and arcane abilities, even if they come at dire costs. This pursuit of magical knowledge significantly influences the narrative of Seven Deadly Sins, propelling key events and contributing to the complexities of power dynamics within the story.

#reinerbraun

Reiner's character in Attack on Titan portrays a manifestation of sloth deeply rooted in a burden of inaction and self-doubt. His internal struggle stems from the weight of his guilt, leading to moments of hesitation and intense internal conflict. Reiner's sloth isn't a result of laziness but rather a consequence of the immense psychological toll and overwhelming guilt from past actions as well as the inability to reconcile what he was raised to believe with what he found to be true of the world he encountered when he traveled to Paradis. He is so deeply damaged from this internal struggle that he developed a split personality, allowing him a kind of refuge where he could hide from facing the reality of his actions.

King, the Grizzly's Sin of Sloth in Seven Deadly Sins, represents a similar but independent facet of sloth. His initial portrayal revolves around a desire to avoid responsibility and the comfort found in escaping from the burdens of leadership. King's sloth manifests as a preference for peace and tranquility, seeking solace in a carefree existence away from the turmoil of the world. His reluctance to engage with the world's troubles and avoidance of leadership amid chaos highlights the conflict between personal peace and the obligations imposed by his role within the Seven Deadly Sins.

#erwinsmith

Erwin Smith, the charismatic and strategic leader of the Survey Corps, embodies a pride rooted in his unwavering dedication to humanity's survival. His pride doesn't stem from selfishness but rather from a deep commitment to a cause larger than himself. Erwin's leadership style and unyielding resolve often push him to make difficult decisions, emphasizing sacrifice for the greater good, even at the cost of many lives as well as his own personal aspirations. Erwin's pride is anchored in selflessness, leading the charge against the Titans while grappling with the sacrifices demanded of a leader. His decisions, while assertive, are marked by a sense of duty and a quest for truth.

Contrastingly, Escanor, the Lion Sin of Pride in Seven Deadly Sins, embodies a more overt and individualistic form of pride. With an ego as vast as his strength, Escanor's pride swells and diminishes with the sun's position, culminating in an immense power disparity between day and night. His pride isn't just a facet of his character; it defines his strength and demeanor, often leading to dramatic confrontations and awe-inspiring abilities. Escanor's pride is a spectacle of power, showcasing immense strength that often borders on arrogance but remains grounded in his unshakable belief in himself.

The sin of lust can take on various forms, reflecting desires and motivations in unique ways that might not be obvious at first glance. Most people would consider the sin of lust only in relation to certain kinds of impropriety. However, Levi's character in Attack on Titan embodies lust in a somewhat less conventional sense, as a trait that is deeply rooted in his unyielding pursuit of justice and protection for those he cares about. Levi’s unwavering dedication and willingness to go to any lengths for the sake of fulfilling his vow to destroy the Beast Titan display a different facet of this sin. His actions are fueled by a singular focus, almost bordering on an obsession which is at the forefront of every action he takes.

Gowther, the Goat's Sin of Lust in Seven Deadly Sins, also presents an intriguing but very different interpretation of the sin, revolving around the understanding and experiencing of emotions. His curiosity about human feelings and relationships leads him to explore the depths of emotions, driven by a desire to comprehend what he himself lacks – a genuine understanding of the human heart. In contrast to Levi's very literal devotion to his vow, Gowther's lust is more cerebral. His quest to comprehend and emulate human feelings often leads to unintended consequences, revealing a nuanced portrayal of desire that transcends the physical realm.

Ymir's character in "Attack on Titan" portrays a manifestation of greed deeply rooted in a hunger for freedom and self-preservation. She can also be characterized as the sin of greed due to how she "stole" the power of the Jaw Titan, which was the catalyst that finally freed her fully from her previous life as a false 'goddess'. Ymir's greed isn't focused on material possessions but revolves around personal journeys of liberation. Her decisions to secure her own survival above all else reflect her determination to carve out a path of independence and escape the fate that others have decided for her.

Ban, the Fox's Sin of Greed in Seven Deadly Sins, represents a different facet of greed. His insatiable desire for immortality stems from a longing for redemption and a chance to reunite with his lost love, Elaine. Ban's greed is driven by the pain of losing what he cherished most. His sin shapes his character's growth within the narrative, leading to moments of introspection and gradual understanding of the true value of life beyond eternal existence.
