Lately, I have been enjoying taking on artistic challenges to stimulate my creative ability. I also took the opportunity to work on my next week’s spread ahead of time.
So many theme and challenge ideas were presented to us for the coming weeks. For the last full week of July, I wanted to tie in a few challenges into one spread. When the Instagram Team brainstormed the Red Challenge, I realized that up until this point I never really did any red themed spreads. I did want to incorporate red into my spreads because it wasn’t something I had done before. Then the Aesthetic Collab challenge was presented to us and I definitely wanted to do that.
I went to the Simply Aesthetic Amino and was ed by Amelia nesbitt. We ended up brainstorming some ideas and ended up choosing a show we both liked, a music artist we both liked, and food. Here is the mood board she ended up creating:

We learned that we both like the show Stranger Things. We are both a fan of Panic! at the Disco. And food was a random selection. I mentioned that my favorite foods were French fries and fruit (it’s a very strange combination I know :joy: ). When we chose what our aesthetic was going to be, I knew a way I can incorporate the Red Challenge for my spread.

I like to draw things to represent another thing so it’s not very obvious. I started out with making a header in the Stranger Things title style which is red. To incorporate more Stranger Things references plus fruit and fry references, I drew a floating Eggo waffle, cherries (more red) and fries. The cherries are references to a Panic! at the Disco song “Silver Lining” (I’ll keep the other part of the title out to keep this blog rated G to PG). Around the the header, I surrounded it with some more cherries, a sliced potato, and a knife. The knife, smashed up cherry (to keep it from being too gory), and potato are more P!ATD references. I kept the layout for my week in the same format as I always do so it connects with the rest of my bullet journal.

This spread was so much fun to do and it was great working with amelia! I love her mood board especially the tropical fries pic :joy: ! If you want to read her blog, check it out here!
