July Spreads: The Beginning

This month's theme I chose to do something different. I chose a camp theme from this month's Theme Newsletter. I saw Camp and my first thought was a Youtube animated series called "Camp Camp" which is a show about a bunch of kids who go to a summer camp (it's a funny show but it's definitely NOT kid friendly). This spread is much more colorful than my previous spreads.

While looking for reference pictures, I happened to come across this fan art of a character from the show:

I was inspired by the colors which I tried to incorporate throughout the spread. I was also inspired by the actual shows art and I wanted to keep the feel of it but not using my normal black outlines for my doodles.

The fanart mostly inspired the cover page but I loved the idea of purple pine trees so I added it to more of the spreads and I'm probably going to add more as the weeks go by. :wink:

This month I decided to keep the sleep tracker but with a slight modification. I spread out the number of hours more to use up more space.

I also kept my habit tracker but I noticed I would stop keeping tracker after a while in the past spreads. For this habit tracker, I decided to take out habits that I know I would acheive and keep track of ones I need to work on.

Earlier on in June, I was in search for a good expense tracker. The expense trackers I had in the past failed and I would stop tracker less than halfway through filling them out. I was given a couple suggestions and went through instagram for examples. This is what I ended up with:

I kept the layout simple and divided it up into categories. Hopefully, this layout would be much simpler to keep myself on top of. This page is important for me to keep track.

I love the idea of using symbolism to represent something without directly saying what it is from. I wanted to pull elements from the show on to each page by drawing small illustrations of things that are in the show. Each illustration is something that represents something or someone in the show. I also chose those symbols because they relate to what is on that page. The titles and main color of each page was inspired by the Mess Hall sign.

Those are my finished July pages as of right now. I still use my monthly page and weekly page but those are still a work in progress. :wink: I'll post more on my instagram @joyandlifeblog!

This was a really fun set of spreads to make for this month. It did take a lot more work than my previous spreads but I found it relaxing. I've been on a creative streak lately.
