(For personal safety reasons, this poem is not physically in my spread, but I include it here because it contextualizes the spread. Also, shout out to the lovely of the Writing Club)

Bad Language
As a child, it was one I rarely heard.
Whispered rumors and TV screens
Eavesdropping where I wouldn’t be seen
Where I grew up, gay was a dirty word.
I learned to plaster up my feelings inside
Because I don’t have the privilege of showing my pride...
I appreciate the colors.
I appreciate the intent.
But none of that matters
If you don’t understand what they meant
Make your spreads
Paint your heads
But make sure when you’re through
Take the time to recognize
And help the community, too.

And now for actually doing what I was supposed to do...
I did make a spread for #pridemonth

I put myself in black and white stripes in case anyone asks. I feel like the closet has made me either more clever or more stupid, but I’m not sure which.
I got the specific idea from True Colors United and their mission.
In this spread I used...
Tombow Fudenosukes in all the colors but pink and purple on the drawing and lettering
PRE Brush pens for the rainbow and lettering
One Crayola Super-tip for my ruddy, awful skin tone :see_no_evil:

For anyone who is curious, or needs them, I have included links for LGBT charities and programs
This last one may appeal to a lot of people here. They take handmade holiday cards for LGBTQIA people with no ive family. Use those handlettering skills for good!

That’s it for me today. I hope all of you have a lovely day and knows that someone out here s you.

AMAZING.
"Where I grew up, gay was a dirty word"
God, this hits home hard. I hate it when people use "gay" as an insult, especially when it used to have such a beautiful meaning. Carefree, cheerful and happy. Truly saddens me because it's such a pretty word.
When I was a kid, it was used to refer to homosexuals, but that was considered a disgusting thing that should never be mentioned. It’s still like that here. Homosexuality is regarded as badly as p*dophilia around here. It’s part of the reason I’m moving out.
It really is a pretty word... it’s a real shame.

I'm so sorry to hear that. :( People can still be quite conservative here, especially the older generations, but it's not this bad.

And LGBT community is no different thing for love
