CASE #O1: TWELVE: DISCUSSION

A/N POV

"Ok, so, is there anyone who believes Heeseung hyung is responsible for her death?"

Jay questions, sitting down on the couch in the living room at their suite. Everyone except for Jake starts to steal glances at each other.

"I don't think so, Jay."

Jake answers in fluent English. Jay doesn't reply. He just keeps thinking about the whole case.

"Sunoo, I know that an arrested person can hire a lawyer and private investigator but can he get a police officer working on his case?"

"Well, usually, we put a hold on the case but in special cases, we continue to investigate even after making an arrest. It's a hassle and kind of harms your career if you can't find proper results so most police officers decide not to do it."

Sunoo replies.

"Hmm..."

Jay says, biting his lower lip. Finally, putting an end to an eerie and long pause that just made the quiet room quieter, he speaks up.

"Jake?"

"Yeah?"

"Let's go and meet Heeseung hyung. Jungwon, you'll collect information on all the staff and people staying in the hotel with Sunghoon and Riki. Sunoo, you're coming with us and I hate saying this but you have to cancel your break and help us with the case as an investigating officer. Can you do that?"

"Of course, I can! Seniority-wise, I'm only one rank below Heeseung hyung; which automatically makes me the third authorizing officer, and now hyung is under arrest, I'm second. I can easily move a few strings and get the case in my hands instead of keeping them in Yoon-hye's."

"Well, that's good. Let's leave now. Shall we?"

Jake and Sunoo nod. Jay stands up and as he leaves through the door, the other two follow him and soon, the trio disappears, walking towards the parking area of the hotel.

"We should probably start now as well."

Riki comments as soon as the trio leaves their sight. Jungwon nods, agreeing with him. As the two get inside to get ready, Sunghoon stands near the door, staring into nowhere with furrowed eyebrows, getting lost in thought. The receptionist of the hotel... He's suddenly starting to feel like he's seen her somewhere but where? And how?

"Sunghoon hyung!"

Riki suddenly calls out to him, forcing him to snap out of his thoughts.

"Yeah?"

He yells back as he begins to walk back inside the suite, closing the door behind; unaware that they're being spied on...

Meanwhile: Sunoo, Jay, and Jake at the police station.

Sunoo POV

"Sir, please, Sir! Please, listen to me! Just keep this request of mine!"

I helplessly plead to the head of the team working on a burglary case once more,  hoping it's going to work. I've managed to get my leave canceled. Now, I just need to make sure that it's me who's working on the case and not Officer Han or Yoon-hye.

"You don't need to beg Officer Kang to become the commanding officer on this case, you know?"

A feminine voice suddenly speaks up. I look behind and spot Yoon-hye standing with a really annoyed and disgusted look on her face, making me almost lose it.

"Oh, really?"

I ask sarcastically, raising both of my eyebrows. Seizing the chance, Officer Kang quickly tries to leave the scene. Realizing that if he leaves, it'll be hard for me to achieve what I want, I try to stop him but as soon as he turns around, Yoon-hye speaks up again.

"Officer Kim, please, stop. You're making yourself look like an idiot. Read this, will you?"

She says, sparking curiosity in me. I turn around and see her holding a piece of folded paper in front of me. I take it in my hand, skeptically while looking at her with a questioning gaze as she delivers a smirk of satisfaction with her hands placed on her hips.

I open the folds and hold the paper in front of my eyes. As soon as I start going through it, my eyes get widened in shock. I look at her once and then back at the paper, refusing to believe that something so miraculous has just happened.

"Mr. Han has requested an emergency leave to go to Seoul for 2 weeks because of personal reasons?"

I ask, surprised as to how this could've happened. She smiles wide and nods. I smile as well but, suddenly, something clicks me... I do want to save my hyung but not at the cost of something precious to someone who's done nothing wrong. My smile fades quickly.

"What has exactly happened?"

I ask her with much fear present in my voice.

"Nothing much. His youngest sibling who's in middle school was learning how to ride a bicycle and broke an arm while practicing. So, you're automatically in charge of this case now, Officer Kim."

She says, shrugging a bit. As I'm looking at the paper which also states that I'm in charge now, a thought filled with suspicion suddenly runs across my mind. I quickly shift my gaze to her.

"But... why are you helping me so much? Weren't you the one who arrested Heeseung hyung?"

"Well, I was going through the case file to arrange everything and that's when I realized that the investigation has quite a few loopholes that need to be investigated better and I want to do it. I figured that you'd also not refuse to do this."

I smile wide again and thank her.

"Thank you so much, Officer Jung. I truly appreciate you for doing this."

"It's nothing. You better cooperate and do the job right."

Shen then pauses to point her finger at me while her eyes turned big.

"Otherwise, I'm gonna take charge of this case."

She says, making me chuckle. She laughs a bit as well before taking her leave since she had some work to do. I also don't stop her and just look at her leave, kinda surprised by her actions. I don't know if she knows that the Busan police department has nicknamed her "seasons-like lady" because of how drastically and how quickly her mood can change. I kinda see where it comes from...

Meanwhile: Jay and Jake

A/N POV

"Hyung?"

With immense patience, Jake tries once more to get Heeseung to talk to him and fails horribly. Jay lets out a huge and loud sigh due to frustration. The lawyer steaks a glance at his friend and realizes that Jay is quite close to losing his temper. He's actually been calmer than usual. It's no surprise that he's about to lose it now. Jake also sighs and looks back at Heeseung who hadn't said a word no matter how hard the two tried.

"Hyung, please, talk to me. If you don't talk to me, how'll I help you get out of this?"

He tries once more, sure that this will also result in a failed attempt of making the older talk... or so he thought.

As he was about to leave the place, hopelessly, all of a sudden, Heeseung started laughing like a maniac, shocking both of the boys present. They look at their hyung with big eyes bearing a fearful and concerned gaze.

"No one can save me! No one!"

Heeseung somehow speaks up between his laughs before starting to laugh louder than before. Jay stares t the older with a surprised gaze for a second, trying to figure out w way to get him to be stable enough to be talked with. He walks up to him and grabbing the older by his shoulders, he speaks up in a firm and cold but loud tone.

"Hyung, look at me! Look at me now!"

Heeseung does stop laughing but his psychotic smile stays. Looking him dead in the eyes, Jay once again begins to speak in the same town as before.

"We all know you haven't done this. We're here to get you out of this. So, stop saying that you can't be saved. Nothing's gone. Nothing's changed. We can still fix everything but if you don't cooperate and just surrender yourself to fate, we'll have nothing to do for real. I know that my hyung. I know that my hyung never loses. I know that my hyung never surrenders and continues to fight till he can't no more and he always... always succeeds because he fights for the truth."

Heeseung gets taken aback by Jay's words and looks the younger in the eyes to find him staring at him the same way with his eyes speaking of determination.

He stares there for a few moments before suddenly breaking down, startling both of the boys. Jay immediately lets go of Heeseung, confused and Jake quickly hands a tissue to Heeseung who uses it to cry into.

"I didn't kill Eunji! Jay, I haven't done it, I swear! Please, save me!"

He cries out, making the hearts of the two friends wrench. They both stand beside their hyung and start rubbing his back.

"There, there! It's ok, hyung! Let it all out and then tell us exactly what happened so that we can prove that you're innocent. We know that you did nothing wrong."

Heeseung cries for a few more seconds while Jay and Jake continue to pay him on the back. Finally, after a few minutes of crying, he speaks up.

"I was really just on a casual hangout and because she got injured, we went to her room..."
