The difference

So starting off, bots and trolls aminos with the same intention, to violate the guidelines, cause trouble, because somebody wants to have a laugh. It is a highly problematic situation that happens over amino, hence why you will find many aminos locked, because the only way to prevent BOTS from ing, is by locking the amino, this usually does not prevent trolls from getting in and here's why.

Unlike bots that are scripted by code through coding systems, trolls are real people, who have gone out of their way to make an or several in order to create havoc. A troll is a person, a bot is a machine technically speaking. Usually with bots, they will spam an amino and cause issues based on how they are programmed, this is why amino has the locking feature, in case an amino is ever attacked by bots, it becomes easier as bots cannot request to an amino.

On the other hand, trolls can request to an amino since they are people, just because they violate guidelines, doesn't mean they can't make an alt and request to a locked amino.

Why aren't we locked?

Simply because it would only cause this amino harm, than good. We have not had any bots in this amino, just trolls. As trolls can still request to get in and will more than likely be accepted, since there is no obvious hints what makes someone a troll and we are not about to turn down because one or two people want to be silly, there just isn't a point to lock the amino. It would only deter normal from wanting to as some just don't like waiting to get into places, so essentially it would be a negative, rather than a positive.

What should do if you encounter a troll/bot

Immediately THIS CHAT and @ all the mods, alerting them there is a troll or bot, provide a link, a screenshot and flag the messages, we will get them banned as soon as possible. I would recommend if you're worried they will have a go at you for it, to just ask for a to see who is online and then pm them, as pm reports are anonymous.
