Jellal Fernandes is a complex character. Having been manipulated and forced to do evil deeds by the dark wizard Zeref, Jellal has committed heinous acts in the past. While he has attempted to atone for some of his actions, the guilt and trauma of his past continue to weigh heavily on him. As a former criminal, Jellal struggles with his own identity and fears that his past will forever define him. Despite his efforts to redeem himself and make amends for his mistakes, Jellal continues to be haunted by the consequences of his actions and the pain he has caused.

Midnight is a character who has a complicated history. Initially introduced as a member of the dark guild Oracion Seis, he has done many bad things. However, when confronted by the guild FairyTail, he realizes the error of his ways and decides to redeem himself. While his past actions cannot be undone, Midnight begins to make amends for his mistakes by helping the guild in their quests. Despite his rough exterior, he has a kind heart and a sense of justice, and he is determined to atone for his past actions by doing good deeds.
