Tier List: Worst To Best Parents

Introduction

Hello Fairy Tail Amino. Levy here ing in on this events tier list. I enjoy making tier lists a lot to rank people I love to people I hate. I don’t do power scaling. Well this tier list is about the parents of Fairy Tail, and I’m ranking them based on favorites and reasoning of how much I love them overall and how much of a good parent I think they are. I included parents that either have biological children, adoptive children, or share a parental bond with someone. Each paragraph explains a tier and why I placed the character there. There’s 33 parents in the tier list so let’s get started!

Worst to Best

F Tier

I would like to talk about the bottom of the list. Yes that’s right F Tier. The guy in the first photo is none other than Erza’s biological father. Well he couldn’t stay around long because he died and Erza was born many years later. But I put him there because he was a horrible guy to Irene. He saw her as a monster, even while she was pregnant with his baby. He didn’t believe her and was willing to kill her and the baby. If he was still alive, I wouldn’t think he would be a good dad because he would see Erza as a monster like he claims Irene is. So automatic drop to the bottom. The guy next to him is Ivan Dreyar, Guild Leader of Raven Tail and biological Father to Laxus Dreyar. Overall he is a horrible guy, wasn’t even a great dad to Laxus when he was little. So automatically at the bottom. The last guy next to him, is Jiemma Orland, biological father to Minerva Orland. I hate him so much, he’s a horrible person with horrible beliefs over his hatred towards weaklings. He’s much harsher about it. He abused Minerva very badly at a young age which shaped the cruelty inside of her, all because he cares way more about power and strength than her own wellbeing. Immediate, drop to the bottom.

E Tier

Second bottom of the list. Yes they’re still horrible people, why not put them at F Tier? Well they still have credit where credit is due. The first image, we have Zeeself, biological father of Zera. I personally hate him, because of how cruel he was to Mavis. That’s the only person we see him be cruel towards. However, he was actually a pretty great dad to Zera, we never see him be abusive to her like towards Mavis. Although he did give her the mindset that being mean and spoiled is ok, which is not great. That’s why I put him at E Tier. I’ll give him that and that’s it. The last picture next to him is Shagotte, biological mother of Carla. I didn’t like her because of how she was in the beginning and all of the lies she told which affected not only her people, but also Happy’s parents and her and Carla’s relationship in the beginning. But the only thing I’ll give her is how she sacrifices herself for Carla because she loves her very much. That’s it.

D Tier

Now we’re getting closer to neutral. Brain is the father figure to Midnight (Macbeth) from the Orasion Seis. I personally don’t like Brain but he seemed like an ok father to Macbeth. Although he might have been manipulating him, who knows.

C Tier

I label C tier as neutral tier. It can go in so many ways, like me not liking and not hating a character at the same time, not feeling any single emotion to a character, me liking and/or hating them a little, me being iffy towards a character, or me not fully liking or hating a character. First picture, is Jude Heartfillia, biological father to Lucy Heartfillia. I hate him so much in the beginning, he was such a bad father to Lucy through her perspective of how abusive and neglectful he was. The only chance we see him being a good dad was when he sent letters and gifts for Lucy for 7 years, revealing that he does care and love her. I can’t forgive him though, so I’m neutral. The guy next to him is Wakaba Mine, who surprisingly has a daughter whose name is unknown (unfortunately). As much as I liked him, I don’t know much about how he treats his daughter. I only know that he tries to convince her to fairy tail, that’s it. I need more than that. Also, I find it iffy that he’ll easily divorce his wife to live his perverted fantasies, which will definitely upset his daughter. So that’s why I put him at neutral. The couple next to him are Natsu’s biological mother and father. They seemed like really nice people, although I need more than that one slide show short flashback proving that Natsu’s really old and died once. That’s why they’re neutral. Funny enough, I also put their son, Zeref, next to them on the list. He’s technically a father, not only the biological father to August, but the father to all the demons in the book of Zeref. I put him on c tier due to my own bias that I don’t like him and he kind of used his demons and the spriggan 12 as pawns. Ok so, I ran out of room for B Tier and that’s why you see Edolas Gray and Juvia at C Tier but they actually belong in B Tier :sob: .

B Tier

Now we’re at characters I like. Even if I question or need more knowledge on their parenting. Yuri and his wife Rita, the biological parents of Makarov Dreyar, are put here mostly because I don’t know how well they treat children. Rita died when Makarov was only a baby. I don’t see Yuri being a father on screen. As much as I really love him, I need to know what he’s like as a father. But I can infer that he was great because Makarov grew up to be the greatest person. Next to them is, Irene Belserion, biological mother of Erza Scarlett. Despite how much I like her, she was never in Erza’s life due to circumstances and she placed her in an orphanage when she was a baby. But in the present despite how cruel she was in their fight, she has always loved her. I’ll give her credit for that. I think they could have had a good life as a family (minus Erza’s biological dad). Next to her is Silver Fullbuster, biological father to Gray Fullbuster. I wasn’t fond of his behavior when first meeting him but once I knew his past and how he truly feels about Gray, he is definitely a good father however it’s truly tragic that he’s considered to be not alive as he’s a demon, so he wants Gray to end him. The couple next to him are Happy’s parents. The mother was such a nice exceed to Happy and Carla throughout Edolas, the father was a mean grouch but I understand why. Carla’s mom took away Happy’s egg, ruining their future as a family together. They could’ve been a great family if she didn’t steal the egg. They were upset and opposed her for doing that, so that got them exiled from the other Exceeds. It’s so sad. Now finally the last people in this tier list are the Edolas versions of Natsu, Lucy, Gray, and Juvia. They each have their own biological child named Nasha and Greige. They were very cool people in the Edolas arc, and I was so happy to see them again in 100 year quest. It was shocking for me to see them have children, but I was happy. They’re actually very good parents.

A Tier

Now we’re at characters I love. Up first is Macao Conbolt, biological father to Romeo Conbolt. From the start he’s one of the best dads of this show. Taking good care of Romeo as a single dad (which he grew up to be a great boy), to doing something to try to impress him so people can stop making fun of Romeo. I praise him highly for it, and I guess being a later on mentor in Natsu’s life when he s the fairy tail guild, to try to control his flames from burning everything he touches. Next to him, is Gildarts Clive, biological father to Cana Alberona. It’s pretty surprising that I ranked him so high, despite not being there for Cana, who was always there. In his defense he was never aware he had a kid as he went out with a lot of women :sob: . But he re the woman he married, and by looking at Cana, knew who her mother was. He was also taking on hard and dangerous quests which of course require him to leave for a long period of time. I rank him so high on the parenting part because when he finally gets told the truth that Cana is his daughter, he wasn’t mad or wanted to shun her away, he was excepting and felt sorry for not being there fully. From then on he wanted to be a better father for her despite her being an adult now, well it’s never too late for him. The guy next to him is Toma E. Fiore (sometimes goes by Mato), biological father of Hisui E. Fiore. He really doesn’t get talked about enough for being a good guy, a good king, and a good father to Hisui. He loves her very much, even its he’ll still love her even as a mouse. Sure he makes mistakes and lets casualties happen at the games, it’s risky hosting. I praise him so highly that he’s not a corrupted king nor is he controlling like how the stereotype of background character nobility falls under. Now those dragons next to him are Weisslogia, Skiadrum, and Metalicana, the dragon parents to Sting, Rogue, and Gajeel. I adore the dragon parents highly for raising the dragon slayers in the beginning of their lives and for training them in a dragon slayer magic. They treat them as their own children. I put them at A tier because there’s 2 that take their place at S Tier for me. I will say, Metalicana makes me laugh because of his “rudeness” to Gajeel, and his reaction towards it. The final image on this tier is Layla Heartfillia, biological mother to Lucy Heartfillia. I’m extremely fond of her for being the best mother than she could be till her dying breath. She gave Lucy a good childhood before her ing, and made her want to be a celestial spirit too like she was. She even gifts her Aquarius to keep an eye on her and to not make her feel lonely. I feel bad for her death but it was a major key stone to the events in Lucy’s life.

S Tier

Now this is the tier where I can talk I about the people I greatly love the most. This time I’m listing it from the back to the front. The last photo we have is Mavis Vermillion, biological mother to August, but mother to all fairies. The second part is just my opinion because she kind of acts like one with all the knowledge she knows, and she’ll probably be prepared for motherhood. She could have read a book about it, who knows. She was helpful and ive as a “projection” that only the guild can see because they’ve got the guild marks. That’s something I like out of a parent, . If her body wasn’t in that coma state then she definitely could’ve been a great mom to August, much better than Zeref at parenting. The woman next to her is none other than Ur, biological mother to Ultrar Milkovich and adoptive mother to Gray and Lyon. She deserves to be up here for being one of the best mothers in the show based on how well she took care of and trained Gray and Lyon in learning ice make magic, all the way up till her sacrifice to freeze Deliora. She could’ve raised Ultear all the way through, however she was tricked and the doctors she went to kidnapped her, ruining it. The next 2 on this tier are Igneel and Grandeeney, dragon parents to Natsu and Wendy, also he has a biological son named Ignia. As I said before I praise the dragon parents highly for being one of the best parents in this show to help care for and train the dragon slayers. I don’t know how well his relationship was with Ignia so I won’t comment on that. But his relationship with Natsu is one of the best ones in this show, his caring nature, his teachings and life lessons, and how his feelings about humans changed overtime since taking care of Natsu. He just never cared about them but now he loves them. Now for Grandeeney, she holds a place in my heart for being my favorite dragon. Seeing her and hearing her make me smile. Raising Wendy was the best for me to watch. She was kind, protective, and gave her advice on things. She regrets not being the one to teach her 2 powerful healing spells, but gladly let her Edolas counterpart be the one to teach her. Now the one next to them, who deserves being here from the very start, is none other than Makarov Dreyar, biological father to Ivan Dreyar, but father to all in the guild. I’ll only be discussing the second thing because I refuse to talk about Ivan anymore as he’s a horrible guy. As the 3rd, 6th, and 8th guild master of fairy tail, he holds a responsibility of keeping the guild together, despite all the chaos that goes on. He always gives the guild the strength, courage, and wisdom to move forward when something happens, and he’s super forgiving. He forgave Laxus and the thunder legion for the whole battle of fairy tail event. He’s the best father figure in the show. Now the ones who take place in my heart, are none other than, Bisca and Alzack Connel, biological parents to Asuka Connel. It was so obvious that they loved each other from the start, they were just so nervous but during the 7 year time skip, they pushed through and got the courage to get married and have a kid. During those parent years they’ve been doing very well as first time parents. Asuka is growing up to be a lovable and sweet child thanks to them. I highly value this family so much and they’re so underrated as they’re just background characters. I’m obsessed with them and yet they’re so overlooked.

Conclusion
