~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elizabeth Hamilton had everything that her heart desires, a husband, a family, a wonderful life. But sadly soon that would come to an end, now at 97 years old, Eliza could slowly feel her strength slipping as her body prepared itself for its final journey.
It's only a matter of time before she would those whom she had lost, her parents, her sisters, her two sons, and most importantly...
Her beloved Alexander.
Eliza laid in her bed, dressed in her nightgown. Everything around her was hazy, everything around her was quiet which wasn't anything she worried about. Elizabeth had lost her hearing years ago, and over the years she had learned to cope and live with these things.
At least she was still able to see, not as well as in her younger years but she could still see. Which she was grateful for because she was able to see...
A hand was gently placed on hers...
Eliza's eyes slowly opened, meeting those of a girl much younger than her.
Eliza had to think for a moment, not exactly ing who this girl was. But then a soft smile spread on her lips, and she placed a hand on top of the girl's. The girl smiled, she looked tired, and were those tear marks on her cheeks?
Eliza slowly lifted her shaky hand towards the girl's face.
It was Eliza, her Eliza.
Her beautiful daughter.
Holly slowly took her mother's hand, placing it on her cheek. Eliza gently wiped at the tear marks with her thumb, she must know, that's why her daughter was crying. She knew that her time with her mother was coming to an end which was most likely the reason why the poor girl had been shedding tears.
Eliza slowly opened her dry mouth, whispering something that she couldn't hear herself. But her daughter did and that was what was most important, the poor girl teared up once more, breaking down in tears once again.
Eliza gently wiped at the tears with her thumb.
Holly left her minutes later to fetch her mother a cup of water.
Eliza slowly closed her eyes, a faint memory making its way to her thoughts. A memory that caused a soft smile to spread on her lips, the memory was of the first meeting with her beloved husband Alexander.
“Elizabeth Schuyler,-”
Suddenly, Eliza found herself in a bright space, she could faintly hear birds chirping, which shocked her because she knew that her hearing had left her, however, the place she was in felt warm and peaceful and lovely.
Eliza slowly looked around, her sight fell on a crowd in the distance.
“It's a pleasure to meet you.”
The crowd slowly faced her, Eliza could hear a faint gasp coming out of her lips. A figure, dressed in a soldier's outfit stood out between all these faces, his eyes met hers and he ran forwards towards her.
“Schuyler?”
“My sister.”
“Thank you, for all of your services.”
Eliza recognized the man that was running towards her, and tears started running down her cheeks. She then opened her arms and ran forwards, a cry escaping her lips.
“Alexander!"
“If it takes fighting a war for us to meet...”
Eliza threw her arms around the man, he picked her up in his arms and twirled her around before setting her down, placing one hand on the back of her head, and wrapping one arm firmly around her waist.
Eliza didn't understand, but it didn't matter to her.
It didn't matter to her how her husband looked like the boy that she had met that night on the ball that her father hosted, what mattered to her was that he was in her arms once more, she never wanted to let go ever again.
And she didn't have to...
She wrapped her arms around his neck, holding him tight.
Just then did she realize something when she laid eye on her hand, there were no wrinkles, they were smooth like they had once been.
She was young again...
Eliza slowly pulled backward, cupping Alexander's cheeks. His hands were placed over hers, his hands felt farm, she had missed it, she had missed his touch, his face, his everything.
She had missed him.
They slowly leaned closer, gently pressing their lips together.
“It will have been worth it...”
Eliza slowly pulled away after what felt like forever, letting her husband go. Alexander's eyes remained on her, they were filled with joy, yet pity. And Eliza finally understood what had happened.
Just then a cry filled the room and she turned around, she was back in her bedroom. Holly was on her knees next to her bed, crying, Eliza approached her, reaching out to place a hand on her shoulder but halted upon seeing an elderly lady.
The woman laid in her bed, a peaceful smile on her face. Eliza couldn't help but frown, wrapping her arms around her girl. She knew Holly would be alright, she was a strong girl. A hand gently took hold of her shoulder, she turned to find her husband standing behind her.
“It's time, Eliza. Don't worry, we will see her again one day.” He softly spoke, removing his hand from her shoulder, offering it. Eliza turned to face her daughter for a second, kissing her temple before facing her husband once more, gently taking hold of his hand.
“Everyone is waiting for us, they're excited to see you again my love,” Alexander spoke, taking her hand and kissing it before helping her up, guiding her back towards a white hall, where she would spend the rest of eternity with the ones whom she loved.
