Dark Age (1987) Review

Is an Australian horror adventure movie directed by Arch Nicholson.

Plot:

A park ranger is tasked with dealing with a crocodile that appears to have a spiritual connection with the local Aboriginals.

This is an average killer crocodile movie that I have seen. The story is interesting with a crocodile that has a spiritual connection with the local Aboriginals. I like the lore and details they put into this movie and are interesting to learn about. The actual plot feels like just the characters trying to find this crocodile with two sides wanting to capture it while the other side wants to kill it. I do like the idea of two sides wanting something to do with the crocodile and having good reasons. But it feels like it more of a hunting movie with them looking for it. I do like the build-up towards the crocodile attacking someone and have good tension to it. The climax itself is different compared to other killer crocodile movies out there.

I didn't find any of the characters to be that interesting. Most of them have different opinions on dealing with the crocodile and with good reasons. But none of them stand out from the rest. The acting itself is pretty good with the performance of each of the actors.

There's not that much to talk about with the special effects. The crocodile itself looks pretty fake looking when actuality sees it. It doesn't look impressive at all, and even the bodies look bad, too.
