Final Destination Bloodlines Film Review

Sone horror franchises just never seem to die with alot of them taking years of making new films before coming back with a surprise new film. As was the case with the film that i'm going to be reviewing for you all today as for years nobody was even talking about this franchise and yet out of nowhere this new film came out and is actually getting good reviews from both fans and critics alike and so then me as I review the film that is a family film with the film in question being called simply just "Final Destination Bloodlines" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when death starts killing of of her family one by one a brother and sister have to team up to find a way to defeat death and save there family once and for all. Now then in of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as it does take the what could have been seen as being a rather tired plot of having a group of people trying to survive death and makes it seem new again by making those people of the exact same family which does offer a unique twist on the set up but at the same time tho this films plot is thin at best as the plot of the film just keeps on disappearing for portions of the film not so much that it would be hard to tell what the plot of the film is even meant to be but enough so that it does become noticeable when the film does drop it's plot and yet it's when the film does focus on it's plot that it becomes alot more interesting to watch as it's giving us something that we really haven't seen before not only from this franchise but also from alot of horror films as well but this is something that does make alot of sense as one of the writers of Scream 2022 and Scream VI co-wrote this film Guy Busick with it being quite clear as day that the man knows how to write a good plot for a longstanding franchise and make it seem fresh and new again as that's something that's very much the case with the plot of this film with this films plot also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Kaitlyn Santa Juana as Stefani Reyes , Teo Briones as Charlie Reyes and Richard Harmon as Erik Campbell. Also starring in this film is Owen Patrick Joyner as Bobby Campbell , Rya Kihlstedt as Darlene Campbell , Anna Lore as Julia Campbell , Gabrielle Rose as Iris Campbell , Brec Bassinger as Young Iris Campbell , Tinpo Lee as Marty Reyes , April Telek as Brenda Campbell , Alex Zahara as Howard Campbell , Max Lloyd-Jones as Paul Campbell , Brenna Llewellyn as Val , Yvette Ferguson as Mrs. Fuller , Mark Brandon as Mr. Fuller , Jayden Oniah as Young William Bludworth and Tony Todd as William Bludworth.

Now then in of what In personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting hat's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As alot of this films actors really do turn in some really good performances in this very film which is something that's both expected and yet at the same time completely shocking it's expected as one o this films actors was a really great actor not just a great horror actor but a great in his own right and yet at the same time it's also completely shocking as the overall vast majority of this films actors are relatively unknown actors and as a result of that is the fact that it would have been foolish to expect good acting from alot of this films actors and yet that's exactly what we get with all of this films actors turning in some really good performances in this film with it being clear as day that this films directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein really do know not only how to cast there characters but also how to get a good performance out of there actors as all of this films characters are perfectly well cast which is something that does make the acting all the more better as we the audience can now believe that these characters are alot more real then what they would have been if they just cast big named actors for alot of this films roles with the acting that's in this film also being helped by the fat that this films script is just so good that all this films actors really have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them more naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

For once I actually tell you who did the CGI for this film as there are effects companies listed anywhere on the films official IMDB page. Now then inters of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as the film does only use CGI for a small portion of it's running time but at the same time it was still distracting to see CGI in this film as this franchise mainly used practical effects and while that is still the case for this film there is alot more effort to incorporate CGI elements into the film as well like by having the tower that the opening scene takes place in by a mostly CGI creation which for the most part does look pretty decent as it's something that you can't really replicate practically but at the same time tho this films also has some pretty odd moments where CGI fully takes over what could have been done practically like the fact that the film has a rubber object filling up with something but done in CGI when it is something that would have been better done practically but when this film does get it right when it comes to it's CGI it really does get it right as the tower looks really good and even when it does start to fall apart even tho it was obviously done inside of a computer the effects done on it still look good so much so that it makes you wonder if it was done practically or not but yeah when this film gets it wrong they really do get it wrong with the best effects just looking like something that someone who's just learning how to do effects for the first time would be proud off and not something that you'd expect to be in a big budget movie like this one is.

Try as I might there was no way that anyone could really do a review of this movie and not talk about the fact that it was last live action film that Tony Todd filmed before his ing. Which is something that does make his scene in this film all the more upsetting as you can tell right away that's he was not in the best of health with it even being reported that he gritted his teeth to get through the filming of his scene just so that he could reprise his character of William Bludworth just one more time which to this reviewer does show just how dedicated he not only was to this franchise with him being the only actor to appear in all six movies but also to his fans as well as he knew that there would be a certain amount of fans who would be clambering to see him again in this movie and just to hear his truly iconic voice one last time in the latest installment of a franchise that he helped to make famous not only felt right but it also hit home that should there be a seventh movie that he would never appear in newly filmed footage ever again and while his character was a cold and mysterious character the man behind him quite clearly wasn't and that's something that does shine through in his final performance and while this is film that could have very well be seen as being just another film in a long line of these films for those of us that truly love horror we will always go into it with a tinge of sadness in our hearts as this is the film that features a horror icon reprising an iconic role one last time with the film even being dedicated to him which is something that the makers of this film really didn't have to do but the fact that they did that does show that he meant quite alot to this franchise and that he will be surely missed by quite alot of people.

If you think that this films characters will deep and well written characters then man are you watching the wrong movie. With none of this films main characters being all that interesting with the exception of Stefani who is the kid of character who will do anything for her family even if it means not doing something that's she particularly interested in which is something that could make her seem like a really dull and boring character but because of the fact that the film does take the time to develop her character like the fact that she doesn't really trust her mum because she left her family or the fact that she's willing to talk about things that she knows will make other family upset just to get the answers that she needs do combine to make her a somewhat decently written character however the same thing cannot absolutely be said for the rest of her family as all of them just come of as being very note characters with them all even having the exact same plot arc in the movie which is something that does make them all blend into one character as heck it's even hard to tell which family member is which alot of the time as there's just nothing that makes the rest of them standout from one another and while yes there are better characters in this franchise then Stefani but you at least her character because of the fact that the makers of this film took the time to fully develop her character something that they quite clearly couldn't be bothered to do with the only other somewhat decently written character being Iris Campbell who even then is quite literally just a carbon copy of Laurie Strode from Halloween 2018 and that's really it and that's not enough to make her character different either as having those same character traits from another quite frankly better written character just makes this character seem like a lame and lazy knockoff character and really nothing all the more then that.

Without giving away two much of what happens at the start of this movie as those are always the best scenes in any of these films. This film does introduce a new idea to the franchise and while it is something that done really well in this film the whole premise of this film makes you question quite literally every single film in this franchise as this film whole is all about death coming after this one family because of the fact that one of them happened to cheat death in the late sixties and went on to have a family that shouldn't have existed this now makes you question if the same thing would also happen if the survivors of all of the other films went on to have kids after they've cheated death would death then at somepoint come after their families as well with this very idea not really bein something that's really touched upon all that much in the film when it really should have done as while it's idea is a solid idea that does bring a new take to death's plan given the amount of people who have not only cheated death but also survived their film as well it is therefor possible that they to would start a family and that therefor makes you wonder would death start to kill them off one by one as well and yet because of the fact that the makers of this film don't really develop this idea all that well it makes it seem like an afterthought like the makers of this film had this really cool idea but realized far to late that they didn't explain it away all that well and so they added in quite literally one line of dialog near the start of the movie and that's really it when an idea that's this good should have gotten alot more focus especially since it is technically a key plot point in the movie as well.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty four minuets and forty two seconds. Which does make this film the longest film in the Final Destination franchise with this film also have the right amount of plot needed to cover that amount of time as well but this film also doesn't really used it's running time all that wisely as the main plot of the film whilst it does put a fun twist on the series overall plot and set up still isn't that well developed with it feeling like that the characters are just doing things randomly for no reason and the film the characters aren't even that well developed which is something that does make it hard to no only find a somewhat memorable character but to also find one that we the audience can actually like as all of this films characters at some point in time have moments that make them unlikable with the same thing also being true Stefani as well who openly brings up something that she knows will upset her uncle just for own reasons and yet it's something that is never brought up again in the movie and nor is te character called for it by her own brother who was right there when their father told her not to bring it up infront of him all of this seems to be done so that the film can have more over the top kills and funny moments in it which is great enough but at the same time tho those kills as over the top as they are won't mean anything if we the audience don't like the character being killed of and very sadly this film actively goes out of it's way not to give us a reason to actually care for alot of it's characters but I really will it that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this film having some of the most over the top kills that the franchise has ever had with alot of this films not being played for laughs per-say but due to how there edited does make them seem alot more darkly comedic in tone with the film even having pretty funny song choice play over the opening kill as well which is perfect as the first kill in any of these movies is always over the top and to make them more darkly comedic is something that does feel like the next natural progression for this franchise to take but at the same time alot of this films kills aren't played for laugh and aren't edited in a way where they could be seen as being funny which is how it should always be as well with it being in this films kills that we get just how impressive that the films practical effects really are with the film having some really impressive looking gore very little of which does appear to be practical which is something that's quite rare for big budgeted horror movie these days and while it would be impossible to say what the best kill of this movie is without going into spoilers what can be said is that one of this films best kills is one that won't see coming but at the same time given the location that it takes place in would make alot of sense with all of this films being some really good kills in their own right as well with it being clear as the day that the makers of this film had alot of fun when it came to coming up with some really fun and creative kills for this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film does prove that there is life still in this franchise as al it needed was someone to bring in new and fresh ideas to make it seem fresh and new all over again and that's exactly what we get with this film and while long time fans of this franchise would have already decided if there going to see this film the people who only saw one or two films and no more then that like myself will like this film as well as it's just that good of a film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.
