He and along with thousands of other humans were taken to Irk to be enslaved and experimented on. Roman was chosen with a few others to be trained in combat. Roman met Jhonen before training began and they quickly became friends since they were the youngest of the group. As they grew closer within the next few years, they would find ways to prank and cause problems for the Irkens as a way to rebel against them. The two would plan on finding a way to free themselves and the other humans sometime in the future.

As the Irkens grew tired of their antics they separated them by taking Jhonen for themselves and leaving Roman behind with the other humans in regular training. Even though Roman hated the Irkens, he stayed in training to use the skills he learned against them and for his own use. Several years later he met up with Jhonen in secret and was distraught with the mental state he was in. He knew that Jhonen needed help but when he offered to, Jhonen grew upset and left. Within the next few years, Roman would hear rumors about Jhonen becoming the first human invader and he decided to sneak out to watch the ceremony.

During the ceremony, he and Jhonen made eye for a second and Roman felt how lifeless he was. He immediately knew that he had to take action to help him escape the Irken’s grasp and manipulation. After he decided to finish training early he found a way to sabotage Jhonen to show him that the Irken’s never cared for him and were only using him. This plan backfired as instead of getting his friend back, he grew furious and believed that Roman ruined everything he’d worked for. Jhonen confronted Roman and severely injured him, leaving him to die. However, Roman survived but he had to remove and replace half of his limbs as a result.

Despite what happened, Roman believes that Jhonen can be saved and still sees him as a friend. He knows that Jhonen was under Irken influence so he doesn’t blame him for what he did.

-Roman will sleep with his prosthetics on, he doesn’t care if it gives him any discomfort

-He has more scarring on his face, but only the one on his brow is drawn to prevent cluttering

-He doesn’t trust Irken food so he has an Irken based diet…if you know what I mean

-Unlike Jhonen, he had his pak surgically and properly removed. It is now replaced with a battery that powers his arm. He can willingly take off this battery and the arm will remain powered on for about 5 hours

-When he gets overstimulated or nervous he starts to unconsciously scratch the Irken logo on his arm
