    How are you? I hope fine♡

    I'm back with another blog

    for the language club! This

    time I translated some voca-

    bulary relating to Christmas!

    Again, in Catalan :) I will also

    explain a little bit about the

    Christmas traditions here in

    Catalonia.

"bon nadal"

- merry :: bon

                           The direct translation of me-

                           rry would be feliç, but we do

                           not say that. We say "Bon",

                           which means "good". It just

                           sounds much more natural

                           this way.

- christmas :: nadal

                           The direct translation would

                           "Nadal" is the literal transla-

                           tion of Christmas, there is

                           no other way of saying it.

                           You may be thinking, what is

                           that thing Yeji is holding in

                           her   arms? Well, she's hol-

                           ding a "Tió de Nadal", which

                           can be translated to "Christ-

                           mas   Log".   In Catalonia we

                           don't     usually   have   Santa

                           Claus bring us presents, ins-

                           tead we are visited by the Tió.

                           The Tió is a log with a face

                            who wears a "barretina", a ty-

                           pe of hat shepherds used to

                           wear centuries ago and very

                           typical in our culture.

                           We place the log next to the

                           Christmas tree at the begin-

                           ning of December and we put

                           a   blanket over it to keep it

                           warm. We feed it with fruits or

                           nuts the whole month and in

                           the morning of Christmas the

                           whole   family   gets together

                           and the kids beat the log with

                           sticks   (omg   we are violent

                           people hshsh) while they sing

                           a song, and at the end the

                           blanket is taken away to re-

                           veal that the Christmas Log

                           has pooped presents! I know

                           how it sounds but I swear I'm

                           not making this up hahahh.
