Recently, I have seen a lot of people say things like, 'I didn't do my homework, I was on AJA lol', and 'I live in my dark room in AJA XD'. Usually, these statements are jokes that hold a ring of truth. It's true, a lot of are incredibly active on here, and seemingly never go offline. There's one little thing that's keeping some people here.
Addiction.
I already hear you panicking, thinking that because you're active means that you're addicted. No, it's okay! Please read on and let me explain.
An addiction occurs when someone cannot stop doing something. You often hear about addiction when it comes to bad things, such as drugs or alcohol. But you can get addicted to just about anything, good or bad.
If you already think I'm crazy, I guess I don't blame you. AJA seems like a harmless little place to hang out with friends. And it is, but just like anything, too much is not good for you.

Don't worry, there are ways to prevent or cure AJA addiction. These ways will work with just about any social media as well.
1. Turn off notifications
This may seem crazy, but turning off your notifications helps a ton. Over 70 percent of teens feel pressured to answer notifications immediately, and all those little dings and buzzes are super temping. You can, of course, turn them on when you need them, such as if you are talking to someone in a pm but also doing other things. Turning off your notifications will also make AJA feel like less of a chore, and you will be overall more relaxed.
2. Take breaks
Taking breaks will leave you feeling refreshed and happy. Plus, it will also help you brain discover other things that make it happy, not just AJA. It doesn't even have to be a long break, just a day or two. On your break, doing any physical thing, such as hiking, dancing, or any sport, will help you release any pent up emotions you may have been subconsciously holding in.
3. Set limits
On the internet, it's super easy to get lost in everything and look up to discover that three hours have ed and be surprised. If you set limits for yourself, this won't happen. Addiction usually appears when someone does something way too much, and starts to depend on it. Set a limit for maybe an hour at a time, adapt it into your daily routine. For example, I wake up at 5:30am. After brushing my teeth, I allow myself 10 minutes on AJA. Then, after my lunch is packed and I'm dressed and ready to go, I'll spend 5 more minutes on it waiting on everyone to be ready. And at night, I don't let myself use AJA after 9.
These are only a few ways, and there are plenty more. These are just very popular and effective.

I'm sorry this post is a bit thrown together, I just want the message out there. Please, don't see the word addiction and totally freak. Yes, you should be afraid of getting addicted to anything, but don't quit AJA if you don't really want or need to.
Thank you very much for reading! Reposts are always appreciated, as well as . The pictures used come from Pinterest, and aren't mine.

I may be late, but thank you for this post ;w;
I try and limit my amino use to just at home, but even then, social media gives you a pressure to check up on everyone every minute and to respond to everything.
I'm getting better, but it helps so much just shutting off your phone and put it in a separate room, or not bring it to public places.
I was stalking your and saw this
I already have all these things, I'm often given inactivity warnings, but I usually have a life outside of amino, so I'm not too strict with inactivity in tgt as long as they do their work and sign up for pieces every now and then :triumph: :ok_hand:
I love this post so much because it's true... And I have to be honest this happens to me too, and being honest I think this happens to a lot of people.
Some people take Aja as there top priority, and tbh it's really hard keeping the things you love limited, but yes I think everyone needs to set a limit for themselves because aja isn't like everythingg. ^-^ :revolving_hearts:
This is an amazing topic and I’m glad you brought it up. My family likes controlling this so it doesn’t reach an addiction, and they set time limits. It does seem like I’m on 24/7 because I respond immediately most of the time, but I have notifications off. A lot of teens get addictions like you described, and this post that you made is perfect. Not only does it rise awareness, but it could help teens notice about such a topic. :revolving_hearts:
By the way. Fun fact: 8 Hours on a screen or more a day makes you lose a slight bit of your brain power to learn and think. Mostly on Minecraft
