vanner

i felt like recommending another artist and who would be better than vanner?? especially in honor of their recent comeback with 'rollin'. they already debuted back in 2019 with their song 'better do better', the group consists of gon and ahxian being the rappers while taehwan, hyeseong and yeonggwang are the vocalists. up til now they've released four title tracks and next to their debut album, three single albums. talking about the concepts of their songs, they tend to go for fun, laid-back and calm exciting while only 'form' as a loud and powerful song sounds different. they've always had a collected and clean sound to their music while they've managed to deliver everything in such a positive, yet charismatic way. the highlight might be their comeback with 'rollin' which is a completely happy-making and cheerful song which definitely sums up the summer so perfectly. however don't get fooled, because their bsides can be much more sensuous and impactful while their confidence is overflowing. that's especially why i find 'upper' as a bside from their debut album so addictive to listen to. that also means that they're able to deliver such a variety of concepts and genres while making it their own in such an unique way.

i truly love the feeling to each of their songs while i've barely seen five boys being so full of ion and dedication which is especially noticeable in the intriguing way they're performing. when thinking about their performances i can't help, but feel so speechless as well as proud while everyone truly has such a fascinating stage presence. besides that, their vocals and rap parts definitely never disappoint. i mean like they have such stable and clear vocals while everyone has such a stunning voice tone. also the control they have over their voices is so irable while gon and ahxian never fail to deliver such memorable rap parts. i especially love how both their rapping styles are so different. plus ahxian's deep voice and gon's overall unique voice tone make me feel some type of way.

also i have to mention gon's snake?? because who else has a pet snake and decided to add them into their mvs in such interesting as well as captivating ways. they first did it for their debut mv and i still how so many people were confused if it's real or not. but the snake suited the bright and nature themed aesthetic of the mv so amazingly. and then they've included it for their 'form' mv which put the snake into a more dark and powerful mv. that's definitely a good setting for an animal like a snake sksj besides that, they're such sweet and ive boys who will easily make you feel so welcomed. there's something so happy-making and comforting about seeing them together while all of them have such a heartwarming personality. i also just feel so proud of them while having witnessed them improve and grow over the years is so insane. i also feel so safe around them while their smiles and laughs are such serotonin boosts. lastly i simply wanted to recommend these boys, because they're such skilled and ambitious boys who'll never fail to impress you

yuri park - fine

don't mind me recommending this, even though i realized i might not be supposed to add this here. by that i mean that he's russian, so he's in fact singing in his mother language. but he participated in pdx101, so i guess it's okay to talk about him here ksjs he immediately caught my attention while watching that show and as someone who finds russian to be such an incredible language feels so blessed by this. his song 'move' also quickly managed to become one of my favourite songs. however today it's about this one which he has released afterwards and in the second half of last year. he as an artist truly deserves to get so praised and recognized for his ion and artistry while the variety in his concepts as well as styles is so impressive. therefore this song ended up being something so fun and addictive while there's such an intriguing instrumental to this. i mean like whatever these beats or instruments used are create such an exciting melody while listening to this feels so happy-making.

i also can't comprehend how he's such a stunning rapper who has such an mesmerising rap style and in general deep voice. his voice tone alone sounds so delicate, but his rapping on top of that makes me feel some type of way. plus his different flows, the way he has such control over his techniques and his overall confidence are so captivating to witness. next to that, the chaotic and fun energy of the song, yet especially this mv easily makes me smile so much. i also love how it's an insight at how he's able to deliver such different types of emotions in such a ionate and powerful way while his charismatic attitude is unmatched. lastly his expressions combined with how he delivers every line in such impactful ways is so applaudable. i just can only recommend this unique and somehow crazy song ksjs

bang yongguk - 2 EP

It is funny that we are only on my second week being part of the BRT team and I have been recommending albums in both of those. I thought it necessary though to give some appreciation to my king Yongguk guk guk, as he has only released bop after bop since his debut as a soloist.

After being in LOVE with 2019's BANGYONGGUK album I was patiently waiting for another set of bangers from my baby. And it is finally here :sob: The "2 - EP" was released of March 2nd, 2022 with 6 tracks that would have you jamming for days.

The moment he started promoting for this project I was screaming my lungs out because I just knew nothing but SATISFACTION, TALENT and just GREATNESS was going to be delivered on a silver platter. Though 2, was kinda short compared to the BANGYONGGUK, I think it deserves all the love. Yongguk's low when it comes to his rapping worked so perfectly for the type of sounds that he brought through this album. I enjoyed every single one of the tracks and seriously everyone should give it a try for a clearer skin. "UP" (title track) and "RACE" (pre release), both having really good and enjoyable MVs, raps and incredible lyrics. "G.M.T" and "Off" giving you the hard core, stank-faced-like kind of flows that we all know and love from this talented king. "Screwed Up" being your relatable yet chill vibe. And finally, my favorite, "Shut Up" giving you something you didn't know you needed and excelling 🥰 Honestly, as a whole 2 gave exactly what it needed to give! And it needs to be talked about more hence me giving this recommendation today. I really can’t wait for what will come next on Yongguk's agenda. I am sure it would be only good surprises.

rolling quartz - zitti e buoni

Before even g up for this blog, I knew I wanted to recommend this cover because I seriously fell in love with it from the first listen. I have only gotten acquainted to Rolling Quartz this year. It was actually thanks to the kband takeover I had the amazing opportunity to be part of at the beginning of this year. That is how I learned about them. I loved the fact that they are one of the few female k-rock bands out there.

Browsing a bit on what Rolling Quartz are all about, I found this cover they did for Måneskin's Zitti e Bouni, literally one of the best songs ever made  me being a bit bias over here cuz if y'all don't know I freaking love Måneskin to death, they are seriously one of the most iconic bands out there. And the fact Rolling Quartz is covering a song by them just made me the happiest bean on earth, and is making me go stan even harder. I have seen thousands of covers for this song but nothing as astonishing and just enjoyable as Rolling Quartz one! I am amazed at how beautifully the main singer has such control over her voice and she sounds absolutely gorgeous. Singing a song as fast and demanding as Zitti e Bouni in a language that you don't have much knowledge of nor fluency in can be strenuous but she does pretty good. I am so in love! I also just really like the visuals that decided to incorporate in the video as as well as their own addition of a Korean rap part. It is time for you all to go listen to it on your own and be blessed! The truly made this song their own, giving it the spice that I didn't know we needed. I believe Rolling Quartz have many great things ahead of them and by this very cover you can already tell how talented and capable they are!

shopping king louie

This particular series- I'll be honest with you, if someone asked me to recommend them a series - this would not be the first series I would instantly think of. It's not a bad drama, but I do think that there were some parts that were too cliche for my personal preference and a bit too predictable. It lost the element of surprise and excitement during certain parts, but I do think that is definitely a series that I would watch to just past time if I cannot find anything else to watch; hence why I chose to recommend it in this edition of BRT. When I first heard about this series, I was both nervous and excited because I loved the casting but wasn't super sure about the plot as it just seemed like your typical romance-comedy. But it really did not disappoint, I loved the little cute interactions between the leads - you can really feel the chemistry, even though you'll suffer from second male-lead syndrome as per usual. Don't even get me started on the OSTs- I was so pleased when I discovered that Monsta X had produced an OST for the series and Kihyun produced an acoustic version of it. It's really one of my favourite OSTs of all time and I really do get that feeling of nostalgia whenever I listen to the track, which is called "The Tiger Moth" - that electric guitar/rock vibe is just immaculate. It matches perfectly with the vibe of the series, which is why I am excited to talk about it today.

Shopping King Louie is a South Korean series starring Seo In-guk, Nam Ji-hyun, Yoon Sang-hyun and Im Se-mi. The romantic comedy revolves around Louie (portrayed by Seo In-guk), a chaebol who always spends money on anything that he likes - especially those which have a subtle beauty and speak to his soul. One day due to circumstances, he loses his memory and meets Bok-Shil (portrayed by Nam Ji-hyun) - a pure and bright country girl. She is shocked by his spending habits initially. In the process of teaching him to only buy necessities or inexpensive small kindnesses that lighten up one's day, she also learns that necessities are not same for everyone as they depend on everyone's own values that shape their life and thus their shopping patterns. Eventually the two fall in love with one another. It's a very cute, innocent series and although there were undeniably some predictable scenes - I found myself enjoying the drama more than I thought I would. Seo In-guk and Nam Ji-hyun were undeniably one of the cutest couples I had ever seen and I hope that one day they will do another drama together. If I had to rate this series, I'd give it a 7/10.

signal

CW: Kidnapping, murder, dark themes etc.

This particular series is just one of the most well-written and best directed ones that I've ever seen, which is why I had to talk about it. I feel as if most people tend to stay away from dark-themed, crime-based series and then to focus on romantic comedies or youth-based ones - which isn't honestly a bad thing, but I just wish that people gave these darker series more attention because they're just as good. Police-themed, crime-based K-Dramas are definitely one of my guilty pleasures - it has been a hot minute since I watched "Signal" but whenever I see a series with a similar theme, I instantly add it to my watchlist as I thoroughly enjoy these types of plots. When I first heard about "Signal", it was actually accidental. At the time, I had no idea what to watch and I ended up looking at the top-rated K-Dramas in South Korea; "Signal" ended up being one of them and let me tell you, it did not disappoint at all. I feel as if the main reason as to why I found myself thoroughly enjoying this series is because a lot of the cases involved are based on actual events that occurred in South Korea including the Hwaseong serial murders in which the killer became known as the Korean Zodiac Killer. As someone who is a fan of true crime, I found myself enjoying how the different crimes were incorporated into the series and I really have to applaud both the director and writer for doing such a great job.

The series aired in 2016 and starred Lee Je-hoon, Kim Hye-soo and Cho Jin-woong. It was based on a film that aired in 2000 and was inspired strongly by real-life crime incidents such as the one I mentioned before. The story revolves around a crime profiler Park Hae-young (portrayed by Lee Je-hoon) who solves a case based on a kidnapping and involves a culprit who apparently disappeared after the crime. He solves the crime with a mysterious walkie-talkie he picks up. The success of this case triggers the formation of a long-term cold case team which is led by Cha Soo-hyun (portrayed by Kim Hye-soo) who has ben searching for her long-lost mentor Lee Jae-han (portrayed by Cho Jin-woong) who disappeared 15 years ago. With the help of Jae-han, the other person on the other side of walkie talkie, Hae-young solves other cases which have remained unsolved for years, whilst also helping Jae-han solve some cases in the past which results in grave unintended consequences. Personally, I found each episode just so hooking that I have to recommend this series - especially if you're like me and have a strong taste for crime-based series. The plot combined with the thrilling OSTs give you goosebumps without a doubt, which is why if I have to give this series a rating - I'd give it a 10/10.

semantic error

sooo today i will recommend another drama which is actually a korean bl called 'semantic error' and if you ask me one of the best bls EVER :weary: :heartpulse: . i usually write this at the end of every recommendation but this time i will write it at the beginning. you need to check it out. so drop everything you're doing rn and go watch it /hj :joy: :hearts: . i have honestly always been in love with the main actors (jaechan and seoham) because i loved their acting in previous web dramas and i've also known jaechan quite well because i stan dongkiz. anyways i have always known both are good at acting but omg their really outdid themselves. they did such an incredibly amazing job that left me speechless a lot of times :flushed: :heartpulse: . their chemistry is really out of this world and the fact that they suggested to add more kiss scenes AAJHZJAJA. honestly all the other actors did such an amazing job as well and i fell in love with all of them. of course i also need to mention the great work of the director, the producer, the ost singers and all the staff that worked behind the scenes. i know the bl is based off an manhwa which i haven't read so i can't say much about it but as for the bl in my opinion the plot is done perfectly. some episodes are even 30 minutes long KAJZKSHZHNSZ. AND OMG THE OST     . i'm just in love with everything about this and it instantly became one of my favourites bls ever. tbh ever since my drama slump i haven't been this excited and fangirled this much while watching a drama as much as i did for 'semantic error'. there's literally nothing that i don't like about it and i'm already so so so excited about the second season  🏻 :cupid: .
