1. ʏᴏᴜʀ sᴏɴɢ (ᴛɪᴛʟᴇ)

In the first listen of the title I could not concentrate so I'm writing this beginning at the second listen. I already expected this sound since I watched the teaser, but still had moments where I was “THEY DID NOT!”. The melody brings me a hopeful feeling that makes tears appear in my eyes almost instantainly (maybe it's just because it's ONF 🤔).

The song begins in a more calm way, having not a lot of sounds in the background, after Wyatt’s rap verse the music starts to build until it reaches its peak at the chorus. Hyojin and JUs fitted the first chorus perfectly and that “oh oh oh oh” after is just magic. I got caught up by surprise to hear Wyatt kind of sing a bit in the pre-chorus (I think it’s one, not sure though, but looking at the lyrics itself and the base melody of what I would call a pre-chorus, it fits so-) of the song, it’s so good!

The “na na na na na” part is one of my favorites, it just warms my heart. What’s funny enough is that the “na na na na na” part precedes the bridge, and as you may know by now, I’m a bridge lover so I couldn’t not talk about it. The bridge is sung by JUs, MK and Hyojin; it’s the most calm part of the whole song since it only has the guitar melody, and even though verse 1 has the same melody (the same guitar sound) it also has snapping sounds, which give a more happy sound to it. The bridge itself sounds small since it only has three sentences assigned to each of the I mentioned, respectively, but in reality has the average phrases a bridge usually has. The last part of the song is always where the artist chooses to explode the song since it makes complete sense. That whole part feels like a calling to Fuses, the emotion is all there and the “oh oh oh oh” in there is just 🥺ending with a melodic note by Hyojin!

Now talking about the lyrics. I was so happy to see that the MV came with english subtitles so I was not completely flying blind pretending to understand korean. Recently more songs have been released with english subs, even though many still add them later, so ONF having them right away was ugh. Reading the lyrics it’s obvious that this is a dedication to Fuses, it can also be a song to ONF (like they are talking to themselves or each other).

Let’s start with the first part of the song that begins in verse 1 until the end of the first chorus. They are talking about someone far from them since their words won’t reach them, that’s why they ask them to sing (usually sound travels further when people sing than when they talk) so the wind can easily deliver the message to them (this makes me think of them being in the army). They want so badly to be connected with that person because they are inspired by them in every way, every single word they write is a mirror of their feelings towards the person, so they can’t stop themselves from hoping that the person hearing their words understands the genuine feelings in them. This part made me cry a bit while I was making its interpretation since I see it as a way of them saying how much they wish us (Fuses) to be by their side forever and trust them, they will always try their best for us to connect with their words since they are inspired by us. The phrase “I am your song.” ( :sob: ) comes from what I already said, since they try their best to convert Fuses’ feelings into songs, they end up saying that they are our song since everything they wrote is for us and .

Into the second part of the song that goes from verse 3 until the second chorus/the “na na na na na” part. Here they specified more about being away at the moment and not being able to be by our side everytime we need but as long as we believe in them, they will always be there. Also to share our all, not only the happy moments but also the sad ones because they accept every single part of our essence. Once again the chorus begins and it’s the same explanation of them being our song because we inspire them in every way.

The last part of the song that starts at the bridge until the end talks about the moment they will “return” to us, for us to wait because they will come back quickly to never leave our side again. They will be our song forever (will love us and cherish us for the longest time) if we remain by their side being the ones we always have been. And that my interpretation, it was not something hard to do since the essence and base words were there but I always have fun doing this part.

Now the last section of this song is the MV interpretation. To be honest I can see the story there, but as a relatively new Fuse I cannot explain the storyline well since I’ve still a lot to absorb. The main MVs I see in there are “Beautiful Beautiful” and “Why” with some touches of “Popping”. So I’ll use this part to fangirl about my boys so you can skip it if you want. :sweat_smile:

GUYSSS REDK! Also did you all saw my husband rocking those high notes UGH he is gorgeous! One important thing, LEE SEUNGJUN!!!! Why E-tion be running and also so far from the camera I want to look at him. PINK YUTO! He pink ugh, perfect and I love him! Lastly, Wyatt… his existence is enough, such a dangerous man! They are together and they are so happy, I want to squeeze them also I feel the need to punch someone ugh (not them of course) 🥺 :two_hearts: :two_hearts: :two_hearts: :two_hearts:

2. ʀᴜɴᴀᴡᴀʏ

This song and the next ones will have a smaller review since they don’t have MV and also no english subs available at the moment, at least I didn’t find any beside korean ones.

This song has a pretty interesting melody, I just love the clapping sound in the first part of the song. The downside of this song for me is that I feel like there is something missing in the chorus (I don’t know if it’s the fact that it all sang in a high key but that doesn’t make sense because I tend to love that, maybe I’m just dumb), because the rest of the song is so good. AM I LISTENING RIGHT? WYATT HARMONIZING IN THE CHORUS… I LOVE HIM!!! I mean I love that thing in the chorus. Another thing that keeps me “addicted” to the song is the part where they sing together “Runaway, let’s runaway…” (that’s another thing that I love in song). One small thing I noted so far is that ONF has a good line distribution in all of their songs, we all know that some groups tend do “showcase” some more than other, but if you look at ONF’s discography as a whole, their average line distribution it’s pretty balanced among the . And this song is a good example of that, in my opinion!

I want to talk specifically about the bridge here since Kev asked me to pay special attention to it, and as a good friend I need to do that (did I already say I’m a bridge lover? kkk 🤭) Ugh… why Wyatt had to start it and then Hyojin with that note!!! The rap was so smooth, those types of rap just have a special place in my heart since not all voices suit that “style” but Wyatt’s voice is too good. Hyojin followed and grabbed the simple snap melody from the rap, when he started entering the high note the melody added a beat that increased its frequency as the high note progressed. Just so beautifully done!!!!!

3. ᴛʀᴀᴠᴇʟᴇʀ

I was not expecting such a slower song to exist in the album, looking at the name of this song it really could go both ways. I would totally listen to this song while reading a book during spring, on a day we could feel a light breeze, or on a rainy day sitted by the window. (somehow the melody reminds me of a christmas song kkk)

All their voices are pretty clear here since they are the main focus of this song that is mostly conducted by a piano and light heavenly harmonizations. In my opinion, this song is MK’s song, he was the one that most stood out to me, next was Wyatt and I know you all know why… he singing is just magical, the combination of his deep tone with the soft melody is a blessing to my ears. I was sad with the fact that it was a bit hard for me to find Yuto and E-tion in the song, mostly Yuto… I know he is there I just can’t find him well :sob:

Coming back to the piano I mentioned before. I have a big love for more classical instrument (not saying I don’t like other instruments but these are just my weakness), specially a good piano or violin, so it makes me happy to hear the piano as the main instrument in here, a light percussion is added after the end of the first chorus, aka verse 3 or WYATT’S VERSE, that, in my opinion, add more soul to the song. The song ends with only the piano and you can’t imagine how that makes me feel relaxed and at peace, like everything around me had stopped.

I’m sure this song is a hit or miss to many people since slower songs are not for everyone. I guess slower songs are more difficult to like when compared with hyped songs, this is based on the people I know and the amount of them that don’t appreciate that much ballads and their beauty of making us calm and with our feeling on edge. I recommend you to give this song a try, the more I listen to it the more I fall in love.

4. ɢᴜᴄᴄɪ

Lord, I was not expecting this song after that melodic masterpiece. OMG, THIS IS MY JAM “I’M SO GUCCI”!!!! Now that I’m fine let’s begin.

To be honest, my brain is having a hard time analyzing this song (in a good way). Let me go straight to the point, my favorite part is the pre-chorus, like this part at a concert would be AMAZING! I can’t tell some sounds happening on the background and somehow I can easily identify the member here than in the previous song :joy:

As you may see I’m having some problems organizing my thoughts about this song because my mind is just repeating that verse over and over again, and I can’t write a song review by writing “G U double C and I'm so GUCCI I'm so GUCCI I'm so GUCCI” thousands of times, well… I guess I could but that wouldn’t make any sense.

This song is a good example of variety, they added a little of everything in the album, so every Fuse can enjoy it. Also, since it follows “Traveler” we can compare pretty well the versatility and it’s not a “yeah, they are okay”, they simply nail everything!

Now, some random thought going on in my mind with this song:

5. ᴍʏ sᴏɴɢ

Finally, the last song of the album (technically there are still the remastered songs). Let me start by telling you that this song gives me disney vibes, I cannot tell you why but my brain goes “this song could be in a disney movie”.

I love all the instruments used in this song, the piano, the VIOLINS (I just mentioned it!!!!) and the thingy you shake and sounds like sand inside (ugh english name…). Another thing, the harmonization in this song is also hard to beat… did I just hear a xylophone and TRUMPETS???? That’s it, the orchestra gives the disney feel!!!

I’m so sad that I’ll only be able to check english lyrics another time, damn me not understanding korean. That is one of the downsides of reviewing a freshly released album but I could not wait to do it.

I feel like the perfect time to listen to a song like this is today, the way the weather is today and how the melody would flow easily with the refreshing breeze under the summer sun; also why do I imagine myself walking down a green field… :sweat_smile:

At this point my brain is just enjoying the songs since I can’t analyze the lyrics in any way. I guess I could talk about the construction itself but it would take me hours per song since I would have to analyze the korean itself and check for similarities between phrases…

• ʀᴇᴍᴀsᴛᴇʀᴇᴅ ᴠᴇʀsɪᴏɴs •

I decided to talk about all the remastered songs in this section since I do not intend to specify a song. The songs that were remastered were “ON/OFF”, “If We Dream”, “86400”, “We Must Love” and “Complete”. I simply love all these songs so I was excited to check them out, I noticed a slight change in the melodies but maybe is just my ears being dumb again, but we can definitly see how much they growed vocally 🥺 Even if you don’t intend to listen to these versions instead of the original versions, just check them out of curiosity! (I even decided to listen each original version before the respectively remastered version to completely immerse myself in the sounds that changed 🥰)

• ᴏᴠᴇʀᴀʟʟ ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛs •

I was so excited about this album that a tiny part of me was afraid of being disappointed with the sound because of all the aspects that made this comeback different from the others. So, I got even more excited while I was listening to the songs since they were not disappointing me. I hope I’m not offending anybody, this is just my personal opinion and taste, but I would classify the songs as 1. GUCCI, 2. Your Song, 3. Traveler and Runaway are kind of tied at the moment and 4. My Song by little (this didn’t mean I didn’t like “My Song”, I’ll listen to it a lot too).

The remastered versions didn’t bother me at all, in fact, as I said, they helped me realize how much they grew vocally, how skilled they are now. So even though these are not the versions I’ll choose to listen in my every day, they are a good reminder of all I mentioned before. (honestly the original version have a feel that new versions can never have, the nostalgia, the feelings from the past when they were present and above all the warm hug of happiness when the song was released) :two_hearts:
