Explaining Ux Ending Part 1: Darknesses and Player

This is all based on theories and conjectures from the fandom. I also do NOT take credit for most of these ideas, I am simply compiling all of the most reasonable ones into a single archive.

Hello! Welcome to the blog. I am writing this mainly for a refresher for whoever wants to catch up on Ux lore, myself included, because there is so much to interpret and it is very easy to forget! Hopefully I make this summary as pleasant as possible.

Explaining the Darkness Timeline

The First 7

Master of Masters and his friends fight some sort of war against darkness.

Well... during this war, this 'darkness' abandoned their forms, and later, formed the 13 founding darknesses.

Now, why is this important to the timeline? Well first off, MoM its that he lost his friends to darkness, kinda dark, but second off, this leads into MoM's whole plan!

Yeah... so MoM is using the Foretellers along with Luxu as vessels for the darkness. 7 people total, which is interesting, because MoM refers to the first 7 darknesses as the most deadly.

So... out of this, it becomes sort of clear. MoM planned to lock the 7 most powerful of the 13 darknesses inside the 7 of them(MoM, the Foretellers, and Luxu) to be a 'house' to the darkness. Though, it is not clear why. All we can decipher from this is that 7 darknesses are already at play inside of the 7, but what about the other 6 left over from the 13?

I can explain this.

The Last 6

I saw a label these darknesses as follows:

D1, D2, etc. So I will label these like this to clear up confusion.

D1:

D1 is the darkness that possesses Ventus and leads to Strelitzia's death in the real world, but that's a whole other story so I won't go into that. D1 is the darkness that reveals themself to the new union leaders in the data world, only for Ventus to attack it and remerge with it, leaving Ventus unconscious. Ventus then takes the pod BACK to the real world.

Also just to clarify, everyone has to take the pod twice to actually escape. In Ventus' example, he takes the pod to the real world, and then takes it AGAIN to be sent to the future and actually officially escape.

And, as you can see, he does. He takes the pod to the future along with Elrena and Lauriam, who I will discuss later.

So what about the darkness?

Yep. If you read between the lines, you'd realize that D1 is still inside Ventus when he is sent to the future. This darkness is later separated from Ventus by Xehanort, and he becomes Vanitas! Kinda cool how far back this goes.

D2:

This darkness is a little confusing, and there's lots of Maleficent time travel going on, but I won't go too far into that. What you need to know about Maleficent is that she time travels to the data world, takes a pod from the data world, to the real world, then ends up where she starts in KH2. So, during her escape to the real world, D2 hitches a ride, but then stays behind when Maleficent takes the pod to the future.

D2 later talks to Luxu, and Luxu reveals that this darkness clearly has a will different from the other 5. Strange.

The last thing we know about D2 is that it had a battle with Luxu. The fate of D2 is unknown. Keep in mind this is the only darkness in the real world.

D3-D6

These 4 darknesses are still in the data world with Player, Ephemer, and Skuld.

Player ends up tricking the darknesses into thinking they're possessed by D1, when in reality, D1 escaped to the future with Ventus. So, Ephemer banishes the darknesses to a portal cable in the data world, along with Player, and the darknesses believe they're free to infect everything.

Player, though, reveals they tricked the darknesses, and locks the other side of the cable, meaning all of them are trapped in there for good.

In summary, 7 darknesses reside within Ira, Ava, Invi, Aced, Gula, MoM, and Luxu, the 8th(D1) is Vanitas, but since Vanitas was defeated in KH3, it is no more. The 9th(D2) has whereabouts unknown, and the rest, 10-13th(D3-D6) are trapped in a portal cable and likely have ceased to exist.

That wraps up my explanation of the 13 darknesses!

Player

Might as well start with the character who can be provided the most agreed on theory. So, everyone escapes, and the end of the real world ensues. What this means for the data world is that it will go to sleep, but what about Player? They're still in there. Well, Player goes to sleep. This cutscene is profound, really. It's revealed that all of the dreameaters we know from Dream Drop Distance are really the beloved keyblade wielders we fought with in Ux.

Kind of depressing. Our Chirithy then explains that Player can either choose to sleep, or be reincarnated in an entirely new heart.

This scene then shows on screen.

Player chooses to live on, saying...

Nomura trolled us. Player is actually the old man on the island.

Yes, you see it right here folks. Though Nomura likes to pull twists, there is a consensus in the community that Player lives on in a brand new heart, aka a baby Xehanort. It's a twisted ending, and it makes you wonder why. Also, it's sad to think that Ephemer, Players best friend, showed himself to Sora to try and protect Sora from his best friend, who we now know as Xehanort...

Well, I hope this made sense! I didn't realize there was an image count so I'll continue this post hopefully soon, and I'll go into the fate of everyone else(Ephemer, Skuld, Lauriam, Ventus, Elrena, and Brain), as well as others who are involved in this whole crazy plot. If anyone wants an explanation on how the heck everyone got to the data world, why Maleficent is there, etc, comment below! I really enjoyed making this, I could do this for hours.
