Duplicate Communities: What To Do

So let's say you have this awesome idea for a new community. Inspiration takes over and next thing you know, boom you're the brand new leader of the beautiful XYZ Amino. But it's not until you check the explore page later that you realize there already is an XYZ Amino...

Well, damn.

So what should you do if you and someone else have the same Amino communities. I have a few pointers.

1) Make a friend.

Well if someone else made an Amino for the same community as you then odds are you have a few things in common. Perhaps you can pair up, work together, and build a community twice as awesome as you could by yourself.

I highly recommend this option. Both communities are likely to be more successful if they are combined instead of competing. Message me and I can even help you remove or rebrand the duplicate!

2) Co-exist

So maybe your community vision doesn't overlap with the duplicate community. That kinda sucks, but it isn't the end of the world. So long as you can differentiate yourself enough (in theme, content matter, level of professionalism, etc..) it could be possible that two communities can exist for the same thing.

A few guidelines though: No fishing your duplicate community for s. No writing hateful things about the other community in yours. No harassing s who prefer one community over another.

Dan's Pro Tip

Think about it like a town with two Mexican restaurants. These communities can serve the same thing, but should be different enough to warrant existence. Like Taco Bell and a 5-Star Mexican Restaurant.

Be civil, s will decide which community is better for them and the one they prefer.

3) Speak With Us

Maybe there's some extenuating circumstances that make both cooperation and coexistence impossible. If that's the case it's time to escalate things, speak with myself or another Amino Community Team member (Dan/Viv). We can help find a solution.
