How to start...

You stare at me,

Lost in my maze of thought.

     I'm aware the raw silence,

Like a mute battle being furiously fought.

       I stare back,

Lost in the unfathomable depths,

Of your dark eyes flecked with black.

Suddenly you look away.

My lips part to speak,

But it's like the words,

Have frozen on my tongue.

So I absently kick the dirt,

          Scolding myself from the bottom of my lungs.

"I need to tell you something,"

I find myself saying.

You stop walking, considering,

And nod at me, staying.

Again I find myself,

With my throat dry and uncomfortable.

And try and grasp onto a shelf.

I laugh nervously,

And your eyes narrow.

Inside I'm screaming,

What I want to say.

But outside,

It's as if where I am is where I lay.

You snort, and leave,

Calling over your shoulder,

"I knew you weren't worth it."

Suddenly the wind blows colder,

And I feel a stabbing pain in my chest.

I mumble, much too late,

"I love you."
