＊Time Capsule Challenge Entry＊

How are you all doing today? Hopefully alright, and if not, I hope the pain eases soon. I really love the idea of time capsules, and have created some in the past even. But it's been a while, and I usually just write letters for the capsules.

『Im digging by one of the trees at the end of the time between Dad's field and the house. I know the land is safe here, and it's been untouched for the last ten years. I knew this was one place close to home that would never change I find a familiar box, and let my fingers slide across it as I wipe the dirt off. Old time capsule has been retrieved.』

Dear Ace,

My wish in every time capsule is that you've found happiness wherever you are. Right now it seems pretty far off. I feel like I'm getting worse, not better. I hope someday it eases. I want to say I don't think about going back to self harm most days.

Please, don't tell me you went back to that. Tell me you're still clean. Tell me you've surrounded yourself with enough good people.

I bet you're a whole new person who doesn't even recognize me. You've been to college and in the working world for a while now. You live independently from your parents. Oh lord, you're free of your mother. I bet that's a breath of fresh air.

I hope you've lived a little; made some really great memories. Maybe you're engaged, or married. I hope things work out with my current significant other. Maybe I'm even a "published freaking author."

Oh, how did college go? Hopefully it wasn't too terribly lonely. Maybe you had some good teachers and classes. Maybe you've read some good books, and written some cool stories. Maybe you've got a new best friend. Maybe you dyed your hair some crazy color. Maybe you've tried some new foods. Maybe you've traveled to new places.

I bet you've got another tattoo by now, don't you? How does it look? What design did you decide on? Did you ever get a blue heart? Or what about the semicolon made of a quill and com? Did you ever decide to look into getting a white ink tattoo?

I'm envious of everything you know that I don't. The uncertainty is killing me. Hopefully I don't still feel that way, although I'm not sure that unease will ever go away.

Do you ever miss your old classmates from High School? I'm still surrounded by them every day. I wonder what kind of people they'll all turn out to be.

I just hope we turn out alright. Heck, I just want to be able to say I'm alive in ten years to open this thing again.

Go ahead and take and chance to practice some self love. Care about yourself at least a little. You deserved it. You made it. You survived. You've grown so much and you're almost unrecognizable I bet.

But most importantly, I want to tell you that it's okay to falter. It's okay if you're not where you dreamt you'd be in ten years. It's okay to be messy. I believe in you. Keep going.

『I look through the other remains in the capsule. Inside I find a container just like the ones out of the 25 cent machines you find at malls or grocery stores. It's from rings that I've gotten for my first love -- my current significant other.』

『There's also a broken ring. I used to wear it on my thumb. It signifies all the rings I wear and collect. I wore it to the point it snapped.』

『Besides that, there's not much else. I tend to be sentiment towards items. I look over to my significant other, their eyes sparkling. They've been helping me keep track of time as I waited these ten years. I lean over and place a soft kiss on their cheek.』
