Okay, if you payed well attention in history class then you're aware of this University. It's named after Brigham Young, a hardcore Mormon. So you can get the idea how this is going to turn out.

BYU's History of the LGBT

The LGBT and BYU have a dark history so if you wish to skip this part, please do. So historically, experiences for BYU students identifying part of the LGBT community have included being banned from enrolling due to their romantic attractions. School istration was required to have students undergo electroshock and vomit aversion therapies in the 70's. Nearly 80% of BYU students refusing to live with an openly homosexual person in a poll from the 90's.

BYU students are at risk of expulsion by the Honour Code Office for expressions of same-sex romantic feelings that go against the school's code of conduct such as same-sex dating, hugging, and kissing, for gender non-conforming dress, and students and faculty are banned from meeting together in a queer-straight alliance group on campus.

Policies and Punishments

In the late 1990's, a reference to "homosexual conduct" was added to the BYU Honor Code. In 1997 Honor Code Office director, Rush Sumpter, stated that BYU forbids actions of verifiable, overt displays of homosexual affection, but does not punish attractions. One students states she tried to pray her feelings away and another said her parents sent her to BYU to straighten out her homosexual students.

Current Policies

In 2007, BYU changed the honor code to read that stating one's sexual orientation was not an honor code issue while removing the phrase that "any behaviours that indicate homosexual conduct, including those not sexual in nature, are inappropriate and violate the Honor Code."

In 2010, a group called USGA (Understanding Sexuality, Gender, and Allyship) consisting of BYU students and other of the Provo Community began meeting on campus to discuss issues related to homosexuality and the LDS church. However, by December 2012, USGA was told it could no longer hold meetings on BYU's campus and BYU continues to ban USGA from meeting on campus as of 2018. There are currently no LGBT resources from BYU.

Kentucky. Home of KFC. Man I love you Kentucky. Anyway back to the topic. UK hasn't always been the oh so friendly to the LGBT university but it has straightened out over the decades.

The Office of LGBTQ At Kentucky

Quote from University site: "The Office of LGBTQ Resources stands in solidarity with Black People and the fight against racial injustice. Our ultimate goal is to highlight the wonderfully diverse experiences of LGBTQ wildcats (the mascot) while working to decrease marginalization in all forms. We are here for all wildcats during the emotional times.

End

There wasn't much information i could find to summarize The University of Kentucky and their LGBT sources but they offer LGBT safe spaces and resources for students, enrollees and alumni.

Another University with the lack of information on their site but I thought I would include them because I've only heard good things out of the university. I have relatives who have attended this college and one is apart of the community and their experiences are exceptional.
