Now you might think they are the same and fairly similar, but actually they are very very different. Each with unique characteristics depending on your style.

The Wii and Wii U are a home video game consoles developed by Nintendo, they competed with Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's Playstation 3.

The Wii is the 7th generation released by the known Japanese video game company Nintendo in 2006. It was considered as the future of gaming, after receiving enormous amount of and love. With more than 101 million units sold, in December 2009, the Wii broke the sales record for a single month in the US.

The Wii is the successor of GameCube and a worthy one indeed. Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata revealed the first prototype of the Wii controller at the Tokyo game show in September 2005. In the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo, the console won the first of several awards. In December 8, 2006 it was launched in 4 key markets.

The Wii was supposed to be named Revolution originally. That name failed and the company explained its choice by saying "Wii sounds like we, which emphasizes that the console is for everyone, Wii can easily be ed by people around the world no matter what language they speak, no confusion."

Thanks to Wii, Nintendo took gaming to the next level due to its interactive Wii remote (WiiMote) that can be attached to a joystick or other input devices. One of the great attachment is the Wii Wheel and Nunchuk which allows a lot more freedom to your hands.

It also allow players to control the game by physical swings, gestures and swipes using the motion sensing technology for interactive gaming experience. One of the best features is that it has a built-in Wi-Fi so that you can connect to one of the Nintendo special servers and be able to play with other Wii players. The remote connects into a wireless sensor which is attached to the console so that it can track movements of the device rather than the press of the buttons.

The Wii U is the eighth Generation video game console and a worthy successor to the Wii. It was the first international game console released by Nintendo.

It was first introduced in 2008 after a alot of severe limitation and challenges with the original Wii console, the idea was to bring back the core gamers. The concept of the touch screen embedded within the controller was originally inspired by the blue light on the Wii disc tray that illuminate to indicate new messages.

After Itawas' presentation in the electronic entertainment expo 1 2010 he revealed to the BBC that Nintendo attendes to announce a new console yet kept the concept secret to surprise people. In April 25, 2011 Nintendo released an official statement announcing a console to succeed the Wii to be released during 2012. The Wii U was first launched in Japan on December 8th 2012.

Wii U was actually launched in 2 bundles, the first one in the basic model that contains the regular white Wii U with 8 GB of storage and a white Wii U GamePad plus the stylus and an HDMI cable. The second one is the containing the black Wii U with 32GB of storage a black game pad and stylus plus HDMI cable and adds a Nintendo network subscription to the Nintendo Land game as well as stands for the console and controller and a sensor bar.

The first thing you will notice about the Wii U is its long game console. What is one of the major changes from the Wii to the Wii U is it incorporate some major upgrades such as the HD Graphics , additional USB 2.0 ports and the Wii U GamePad, which has a 6.2 inch LCD touchscreen, 2 analogue sticks, a front facing camera, motion control, stereo speakers etc.

The Wii U suffered from mixed reception, after being praised for its creative and innovative ideas and gamepad it was heavily criticized due to poor marketing, very limited battery power, as well as insufficient top tier launch titles, and lacked the third party that its rivals the Playstation 4 and Xbox one had.

It was met with the lack of adaptation ability by s and ended up with low sales leading to the end of production in January 2017. Later on in March 3, 2017, Nintendo released the successor, the wildly known Nintendo switch which continued with an upgrade Wii U concept.
