Five Days Of Celebrating My Lgtbq+ Ocs Day 5

Hello everyone and welcome to the final day of celebrating my pride ocs. Sorry it took so long to post. Of course I saved the very best oc to last. Today we will be focusing on and celebrating the amazing Phoenix Weber from my Wonderful Webster Fanfiction Series in development.

The post will be talking about how I came up with the idea for the character, why I made them their identity and explaining their pride outfit.

How I Came Up With The Idea For The Character

If you've all followed my journey on here you'll know that I came up with the idea for the character after I discovered I was Nonbinary. Discovering my Gender identity and feeling secure with the label made me realise how starved I was of that representation and how much I wanted to see rep. Knowing that there's not any Nonbinary Superheroes for example really upset me and my feelings have gotten worse over time especially when discovering the fact that most of our rep is non human rep. Sure it makes sense for Frankiestein from Monster High to be Nonbinary but we're not aliens we're human beings and are identity makes sense.

I love Spiderman he's like my favourite super hero of all time I mean I have a poster of him in my room, t shirts, a bookmark and two Spidey posters in my room. So I thought turning myself into a Spidey variant would be fun so that's what I did. I want spoil much but Phoenix's backstory is really emotional but they're also not defined by it. Seeing a Nonbinary person be human and have struggles is something that's desperately needed so I'm glad I created Phoenix/Webster.

Why I Made Phoenix Nonbinary And Panro Ace

Ok so I touched a bit on why I made Phoenix Nonbinary when coming up with the idea for the character but I want to expand on it a bit more. The Nonbinary identity is something so important to be made aware of that I feel like even Nonbinary characters appearing in fanfiction can help alot when it comes to rep. Seeing a Nonbinary person experience similar struggles to other Cis characters in fiction helps normalize how we are all equal, real and valid no matter are identity. I'm so excited to write the superhero rep I haven't received. The phrase that anyone could wear the mask is so important to me and I really want to show that.

Ok so sexuality didn't come into my brain until thinking about their bestie/lover and how both of them would develop their relationship. Their panromantic notebook in their concept art was just a bit of an Easter egg orginally. Although Phoenix being Panro Ace is partly me projecting the representation I haven't gotten onto my oc I feel like it's a very important part of their character. They at first think romance is not an important part of their life until they realise they are awkwardly falling love with their bff and spending years getting to know her. Denial about their emotions is such a big part of their character as much as their gender identity. It might not get represented well in the first fic but it definitely will once I start writing the slow build up to Phoenix and Lunas romance in future fics.

Explaining Phoenix's Pride Outfit

So if you have looked at day 4 of my series you'll know that Luna had an outfit inspired by her favourite musical and they also dressed as their fav but in pride colours. Even if at this point they're just besties I believe Phoenix would absolutely want to match Lunas outfit theme. If you cant tell Phoenix's outfit is inspired by Jack Kelly from Newsies. I implemented all their flag colours into the outfit. I apologise as I'm not quite good at deg waist coats or shirts.

For accessories they have an ace purple necklace with a club symbol. I of course couldn't forget the iconic Nonbinary purple finger less gloves which look great. I chose Asexual flag themed boots and chose for a headband with both pride flags as I believe they would ditch the beanie just for Luna. I was going to draw Phoenix in their civilian form with glasses but I can't draw them so I instead decided to include the glasses in this piece of art and draw them round.

Conclusion

I'm very happy I finished the series, once again I apologise for the delay but I hope you enjoyed it. I might bring it back next year with ten ocs if I have that amount. I'm desperate to write more representation in what I do and its really important to me. A wiki that will contain all the links to each day will be up soon and that's where I will keep all the pride art from ocs from now on.
