This is The Black Queen here with my monthly Music Collection Update! This is where I gather all the albums I received during the month and present them here to add to my various Collection Wikis!

Holy Hell! Am I late or what? I had a super busy week in April with just about every possible thing happening at once, so I had no time to write these and compile them for this post. Here I am on the final day of April typing these out while I'm working! Just to clarify, this is for March! I am really behind on this, I'm sorry. I received 1 Vinyl [LP] and 3 CDs! Let's go right into them!

Vinyl [LP]s

Album; Peace Sells…But Who's Buying

Artist; Megadeth

Year; 1986

Genre; Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal

Description & Thoughts;

Megadeth’s 2nd studio album and one that initially sparked mainstream interest, as well as being the last album to feature both guitarist Chris Poland and drummer Gar Samuelson. Recognised largely for the namesake track Peace Sells, an anthem for the heavy metal community during the 1980s that spoke out against negative stereotypes of fans, directed towards rhetoric from the Parents Music Resource Center, or P.M.R.C. The album improves on the band's Thrash Metal beginnings, while also introducing more mid-tempo Heavy Metal tunes that highlighted catchier shouting choruses, Peace Sells included, along with Devil's Island and Wake Up Dead. The thrasher Bad Omen and The Conjuring retain the neck-breaking instrumentals of their debut, and a tongue-in-cheak cover of Howlin’ Wolf’s 1961 track I Ain't Superstitious adds a Blues Metal taste for good measure.

CDs

Album; Soulside Journey

Artist; Darkthrone

Year; 1991

Genre; Death Metal

Description & Thoughts

Darkthrone’s debut studio album and one recognised for it's clear Death Metal approach, before their shift to becoming one of the leading bands in Black Metal with their next album. While this would not be the last album with bassist Dag Nilsen, it would be the only one with him as a full member of the band, later parting officially over their change in sound to Black Metal, but serving as a session musician on their follow-up. The album has a wide array of instrumental elements that superceded usual Death Metal arrangements with more atmosphere and Doom Metal-influenced structures. Songs like the title track, Cromlech, and Grave With A View showcase these elements and foreshadow their later material very clearly. Vocalist and guitarist Nocturno Culto boasts a dark and guttural growl on every track, combining with the complex drumming of Fenriz, planting the seeds for the duo that would hold the Darkthrone name to the present day.

Album; Parasomnia

Artist; Dream Theater

Year; 2025

Genre; Progressive Metal, Progressive Rock

March 2025 Music Additions!-[BIC]This is The Black Queen here with my monthly Music Collection Update! This is where I gather

Description & Thoughts;

Dream Theater's 16th studio album and their first with original drummer and founding member Mike Portnoy, following a 15-yesr departure after 2009's Black Clouds & Silver Linings, and replacing long-time drummer Mike Mangini. The album is a concept album surrounding themes of sleep, nightmares, and paranoia, the band's first concept album since 2016's The Astonishing. A highly anticipated release, the reunion of perhaps the band's most classic lineup created immense hype and attention across the Rock and Metal world, culminating to the album's first single Night Terror, which gave the band their biggest hit since their breakthrough single Pull Me Under from Images And Words back in 1992. Other notable singles included the insanely heavy The Broken Man and the self-homage, penned by Portnoy, Midnight Messiah. The opening track In The Arms Of Morpheus showcases the classic instrumental powerhouse within the band, and the epic closer The Shadow Man Incident is a textbook example of Dream Theater's ability to write powerful epics.

Album; Las Pegasus Radio

Artist; PrinceWhateverer

Year; 2025

Genre; Hard Rock, Grunge, Punk Rock, Heavy Metal, Alternative Rock, Parody

March 2025 Music Additions!-[BIC]This is The Black Queen here with my monthly Music Collection Update! This is where I gather

Description & Thoughts;

PrinceWhateverer’s 5th studio album and his first cover album, one that serves in part as a parody album that takes various Classic Rock songs and combines them with lyrics based on themes from the TV series My Little Pony; Friendship Is Magic. Artists from Guns N' Roses to Foo fighters and Metallica are featured with Pony-parodied lyrics, often in tongue-in-cheak contexts. A number of these tracks were released as singles in the years prior, such as The Mare In The Box, originally by Alice In Chains as The Man In The Box, as well as Twilight Learned To Fly, from Bowling For Soup’s 1985. Most of the new tracks feature many familiar names within the fandom, including MelodyBrony, 4EverfreeBrony, ShadyVox and ElectroKaplosion. Two of the tracks, Smells Like Colt Spirit and Everfree, appear with little to no parodied lyrics and exist as straightforward covers with parodied song titles from their Nirvana and Foo Fighters counterparts, respectively.

That's all we got for this one! Going to keep this nice and short so I can get back to work! Until next time, Peace And Love!
