Episode 51

God I hate it when best girl cries.

Yes, I said it twice. And it needs to be said many more times than that! It kinda sucks that the five of them (Momo, Kirishima, Iida, Todoroki and Izuku), whatever their reasons, did events that nearly got everyone in the glass expelled, were it not for All Might getting retired! I personally understand why they felt he need to act why they did, but to the outside person? They’re just a bunch of selfish brats who didn’t trust the system and thought they were better than it by trying to take things into their own hands. Which only serves to further prove just how messed up this world truly is!

Watching best girl cry was heartbreaking, but not nearly as bad as my respect for Mineta (however minuscule it was. And trust me, that wasn’t respect I was giving wholeheartedly) fell this episode. Honestly? I think the villains should have tried to recruit him instead of Bakugo. For all of Bakugo’s faults, he has at least one heroic quality; he tries more than anyone to become a hero worthy of the title #1. This is at least a noble goal that Bakugo is aiming for, however misguided his efforts to achieve said goal might be. Mineta, however, has never indicated any meaningful relationships with female students and just sees them as pieces of meat there for his viewing pleasure. In addition, he even went so far as to use his own Quirk (which he vowed to use in his pursuit of being a hero) to spy on women. This doesn’t necessarily make him evil, but if the outside people knew just how much of a pervert he really was, they would certainly harbor even more doubts about U.A. and why their hiring practices allowed a sexual deviant mind like himself into the hero course.

My eyes are killing me, so I’ll keep this brief: sorry to be so heavy handed when this was just a light hearted episode about dorm battles, and how the quickest way to a woman’s heart is through their stomach! I just wanted to focus on two points which resonate with me on a deeper level, and I feel I succeeded! This’ll definitely keep me occupied for the break, when they come back with the new cour and OP/ED!
