so, it’s been two years since i’ve done this challenge, and i feel that i’ve changed in that time period. so, i’m doing it again! i mean, it’s really because i was supposed to be posting something else today, but i got distracted. which isn’t a valid excuse because i have the attention span of a three year old and the memory of a goldfish. really and truly, i was probably being lazy and tired. as per usual...

well, if you didn’t know already, i’m mack. and i have a lovely friend called 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐭 who pops up from time to time, but they’re not here right now. i’ve been in this community since the very beginning and watching it grow has been really fun! my favorite thing, though, has to be all the new people who weren’t here at the start, and who are now, that i’ve become friends with. my pronouns are they/she. i like words, hot wings, and things my make my heart squeeze.

of course, the classic obvious answer was the, dare i say, infamous rick riordan. i know that there are people who absolutely despise the man for butchering the classical mythologies into digestible bits for the middle aged masses. and to those people i say, everyone has to start somewhere. i began reading the percy jackson series when i was in the fourth or fifth grade. from there, the vague interest grew into a obsession that still holds to this day. i think something that helped fuel that fire was the desire to absorb as much information about everything as i possibly could. so when i began reading the books, i immediately wanted to know as much as possible about greek mythology. from greece i jumped to rome, from rome to scandinavia, from scandinavia to india, from india to japan, from japan to the americas. and none of that would’ve happened if i hadn’t picked up the lighting thief in the school library.

𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒏
my opinions on religion are muddy. i personally am still figuring what it is i believe about those sort of things, but in relation to other people, my ideals are concrete. i don’t appreciate when people use their religion to justify something that’s derogatory, offensive, or harmful. i don’t like when people use their religion to hurt other people or to commit atrocities. and i especially don’t like when people are selective on what they choose to believe about a religion, something that specifically applies to my experiences with christianity.

𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒂 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒇
as far as i know, i practice neither a religion nor a belief. i think there are bits of piece of beliefs that i take to heart though. i mean, i do believe things, obviously. what i guess i mean is, i follow my own beliefs, which came from somewhere else most likely. things like free speech and expression, equal rights, and things like that.

𝒇𝒂𝒗𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒐𝒓𝒚
i’m not sure if this is a conspiracy, but there’s a lot of suspicion and theories going around about this, and that’s the black dahlia murder. if i’m being honest, i think most unsolved true crime cases are extremely interesting. the black dahlia murder is just an example of one. a few others i like are the disappearance of bobby dunbar, the murder of jonbenèt ramsey, the treasure of forrest fenn, and the collar bomb bank robbery. the perceptive if you will notice that these are all episodes of buzzfeed unsolved, which will be explained by the fact that this is one of the few true crime shows i actually like.

𝒇𝒂𝒗𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒎𝒚𝒕𝒉, 𝒅𝒆𝒊𝒕𝒚, 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆, 𝒆𝒕𝒄.
listen folks, i’m about to give a shameless self-promotion because greece has some oddly specific deities, okay? so there’s a god in greek mythology who’s name is aristaeus and he’s the god of beekeeping. yes, you heard me. greece has a god of beekeeping. there’s also a god of vegetables, priapus, who is not my favorite because he tried to rape hestia. not cool, you insolent carrot loving, son of a rutabaga, clumsy lettuce head of a potato-face.

𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐
𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕
i assume this means related to mythology or folklore, in which case, i’d like to learn more of the history of different mythologies. the last time i did this challenge, i said that i wanted to learn about lesser known or researched cultures, and that still holds true, but in a different way. i think the history side of things are more interesting to me now. in of things unrelated to mythology, but kind of, i’d like to improve my writing. i mean, there are plenty of amazing writers in this community and if i could have an ounce of that creativity or talent, i’d be set for the rest of my life. teach me your ways, masters of the word.

𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒆𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕
i don’t think i fully relate to one deity the most, but i think there are aspects of my personality that could be applied to different deities. pardon me, but i’m only gonna be using hellenic deities because that’s what i know most about. i think my childishness makes me like hebe, goddess of youth. the darker side could be attributed to oizys, the goddess of anxiety and depression. overall, i guess i’m most like hemera, who’s the personification of the day. i sort of try to be funny and goofy so that people around me are happy. i just wanna be as nice as possible while i’m alive, so i guess that bright, shiny daytime kind of thing is like that.

𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔
this is a complicated answer. i mean, i do like the idea of astrology because it gives you something to blame about certain parts of yourself. i also like the idea of being born at a specific time influences your personality. i don’t check horoscopes in the newspaper to see how my year is gonna go, though. so, i guess i don’t believe in horoscopes, but i do like the idea of astrological signs.

𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒍,
𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒆
now, i’ve asked this question a lot before. some of the answers i getting are a deer, a bumblebee, a puppy, a kitten, and i think my favorite is a duck. however, i disagree with all of those answers. if i was an animal, i think i would be either a ferret, a venezuelan poodle moth, or an albino milk snake. i think i’d be a ferret because they’re like long noodles, and they look kind of weird, but like they’re cute and wholesome. i think i’d be a venezuelan poodle moth bECAUSE I MEAN HAVE YOU SEEN THOSE THINGS? THEY ARE SO SOFT LOOKING AND CUTE AND FLUFFY! lastly, i think i’d be an albino milk snake because those are super chill and temperate, but also really pretty and cute.

i do not roleplay! however, i am interested in it because i do have quite a few friends who do. the biggest thing that’s keeping me from it is my own anxieties, i think. the idea of it sounds really fun, but it also gives me a lot of fear and nervousness. i don’t know much about the different styles and what not. i mean, there’s like literate and semi-literate, right? i don’t know what those words mean in relation to roleplay, though. so, i guess i don’t have a preference.

okay, fun story time. i’ve been here since the very beginning of this community. way back when kat asked me to be a curator for it. it really seems like forever ago. but, the most fun thing about being here all this time has been watching the community grow and grow into what it is today. that’s what i hope for this place in the future. for all the new people to come here add their own flair to it. for all the new content that will be created. it’s gonna be something, don’t you think?
