I woke up in a dark cave, my body felt stiff. Really fucking stiff. I could smell Hiccup somewhere, but my head was still throbbing from being hit. I let out a hiss. That got the attention of the dragons surrounding me. I could hear them whispering.
"Are you sure she's not a threat?"
"She smells funny!"
"I still don't trust her!! Those who were changed aren't like us!"
"Can you guys shut up? I can understand you all. It's not funny."
I only received draconic grumbles in response. I heard the sound of Hiccup talking. That made me very relieved. I shoved my way through the dragons, trying to get to Hiccup. I yelled out for him, and he whipped his head around to face me. I finally made it through the crowd of dragons and to Hiccup. I curled around him and Toothless instinctively. This person radiated a familiar smell, but I wasn't about to let them take my frie- oh gods they have dragon nip in their suit. I looked away, trying to avoid the smell. That's when I heard the figure speak.
"Hiccup..?"
"Should- Should I know you?"
"No... You were just a babe, but a mother never forgets..."
Holy- This was Hiccup's mother??? That was new. As Hiccup's mother started to run off with Hiccup in tow, me and Toothless followed. My head felt like it was splitting open. Once we got out into the main part of the Sanctuary, I collapsed. I tried to get back up... but failed. I could feel my bones shifting... changing... and then I ed out.
I woke up on a rock in a cave. I vaguely ed what had happened. Then, I tried to sit up, but what I saw made me scream. I had human hands!!! I let out a still draconic screech, which also surprised me. I looked over my body, which was covered with a big blanket. I peeked under the blanket, and my suspicions were answered. I was also naked. It wasn't long before Valka and Hiccup came running in. I looked at Hiccup, my eyes full of fear. Valka came over to me, trying to move slowly. I let out a scratchy whine. My hands gripped the blanket for dear life.
"W-What... happened..?"
"You were cursed, and now... you are controlling it."
"I'm not cu-cured?"
"A dragon's curse cannot be cured, only controlled."
"G-Great."
"Abby? Are you okay??"
I looked up at Hiccup with tears brimming. What was I? Was I a human or a dragon..? I tried to talk again... but ended up coughing instead. I looked around, my eyes landing on some fish. My stomach rumbled with hunger. I looked at Valka, who had her back turned to get something. My eyes widened when she turned back around and gave me some spare clothes. I smiled, and looked around for a place to change. Valka must have sensed my distress, so she led Hiccup out of the cave. I carefully stood up and started to change into the very baggy clothes.
I soon finished. I walked out when I put on my new jacket, looking around at the Sanctuary. It was beautiful! I started to walk down towards a ledge when I heard a small rattling sound. It wasn't strong, but it was there. I looked towards the large Stormcutter, who gave me a look in return.
I stared out into nothingness, my mind floating away as I thought of the events that led to me becoming a dragon. That poor Stormcutter... I let out a growl. I needed to leave... They don't need another human here. I brought my knees up to my chest, tears dripping down my face. I had run away... From the chief of my village. I heard some shuffling and then a gust of air as a dragon plopped down next to me. It was the Stormcutter.
"What's wrong, Broadwing?"
"Nothing... Wait, how can I-"
"You are able to communicate and hear us, but it looks strange to humans."
"Oh... Well, I guess I just feel like a monster... something that nobody ever wants..."
"Is there a reason why?"
"My father. He never wanted me after my mother died. He used to call me worthless. So I guess I just believe him. I am a freak. Something that should be caged and shown as entertainment."
"Why would you call yourself that? In my eyes... You are blessed to be part dragon. Yes, your human friends might not see it that way, but you are special. C'mon. We're going to get some fish. I'll bring you back some."
"Thanks, Cloudjumper..."
