Title in progress!
This is just a fun little JoltikShipping story about how the BW story might affect the Unova Gym Leaders.
The fact that you might lose your lifelong best friends (pokemon) is a very scary thought. Imagine if someone was going to take your pet away from you! And being a gym leader, well, due to there strength and popularity, they may be inclined to pretend they aren’t scared or upset about it. I’ve written about this a few times, but this is the first time I’m posting about it.
Word Count: 2,862. This story has only seven pages in Google Docs. Usually my stories are double that, so this is a short one.
I think this will be one of my last short stories before school starts. I'll still make them, but they'll be less frequent. After this, expect lots of random polls again.
I love BW too much. And I love the Unova Gym Leaders WAYYYYYYY too much.
Expect more stories about the Unova leaders. But let me know if you like stories about JoltikShipping, beacause if you do like them, then I’ll write more love stories! But if you don’t, then I’ll just write regular Unova stories and you won’t have to read about them anymore.
Anyway, let’s begin the story!
—-------------------------------------------------
It was the big day - the day when the 2 dragons were supposed to be fighting for truth and ideals.
The gym leaders were at Drayden’s house. All of them were preparing to go to N’s Castle and assist the hero by any means necessary. Even though none of the gym leaders were the hero themselves, they still had to do *something*. Everyone was counting on them to show up and save the day, just as they always do. Even Bianca went to all of the gyms and asked if they could do something. They agreed to help, even though they were going to anyway.
Most of the gym leaders were in the main room, counting there pokeballs and making sure they had all of there pokemon.
The pokemon they might lose.
The gym leaders were well aware that this could be the last time they ever fight with there ‘mons. They were also very aware that Team Plasma hated them the most, beacause they’re technically the ones who encourage using pokemon to fight, and they believe it hurts them.
If only N could see… pokemon fought *with* them. If they didn’t want to fight, they wouldn’t. Every gym leader had several pokemon that they owned, but didn’t fight with. Simply beacause they did not want to. Most of them either didn’t want to hurt other pokemon, or they weren’t confident enough in there own abilities. Whatever the reason, they don’t fight. And that was okay.
Anyways, the gym leaders were still in the main room, preparing to go fight.
One of them, the shining beauty of Nimbasa City, was putting her Emolga back in the pokeball, after giving it one last hug. The last hug she might ever give it.
She held Emolga’s pokeball in her hand. Her hand that was now shaking out of fear. Or was that the pokeball shaking, signaling Emolga’s fear? It was most likely a little bit of both.
She closed her eyes and took 1 deep breath, but the shaking did not stop. She was scared. If she wasn’t good enough, she was going to lose her pokemon forever. Her Emolga that she’s had since 5 years old. Her Zebstrika that’s been around since before she was even born. Sometimes they were the only 2 she could talk to. After years of being with them, there was no way she was going to lose them.
She turned around to face the other gym leaders. Nobody else looked scared. They looked confident, actually. Were they really not worried about losing there pokemon forever?
She looked over at her best friend, the red-headed pilot. Even she looked fine. Even though she’s said a million times that she’s terrified. She knew she was only pretending to be strong.
The shining beauty was pretending, too. She even felt like crying. Again. But not here. Not now. Not when everyone else wasn’t worried at all. As a gym leader, it would only make her feel weak. Gym leaders aren’t supposed to be worried about this kinds of stuff! Everyone was counting on them! They’re the ones who were going to save the day!
Just beacause everyone else was scared, does that mean *they* aren’t allowed to be? Of course it does! The strongest and most ired people in the region, crying and being scared? Inconceivable! They’re the gym leaders! They aren’t scared of anything! They’re gonna beat Team Plasma, and all will be well.
At times like this, the shining beauty usually turned to her best friend, or her pokemon. But they were just as scared as she was, so they would be no help. So she thought of the only other person who would listen.
Another gym leader. One who always listened to her, or anyone, for that matter. The one with beautiful green eyes and lots of talent. The one who always made her feel like there was more to her than her beauty (but that's another story).
But she looked around for him, and realized that he wasn’t here.
Now she was even more worried. Why didn’t anybody notice that he wasn’t here? He was here earlier. But now he isn’t.
So, she took her pokeballs and went upstairs to go find him.
Nobody was up here, but there was a closed door that might have somebody in it. It was the only place he could be.
She took a moment to wonder what he was doing in here all by himself.
Then she slowly opened the door, her hand still shaking out of fear. But then, realizing he was in here, she opened the door all the way, and felt a little calmer.
He was sitting in a chair, facing away from the door.
It felt like the first time she had spoken in ages, even though it wasn’t. “Oh, here you are! I was wondering why you weren’t downstairs with us. Hey, I think we’re going to head out soon.”
He didn’t turn around, which confused her. Suddenly, she heard a sob, and she saw him lift his hand up to wipe something off of his face.
“...Are you crying?” She asked out of concern and shock. He didn’t respond.
She went up to him to try and get a look at his face. Before she could see, however, he turned his head away from her, but she heard another sob from him.
What she *did* see, however, was the fact that there was a Venipede in his lap. The poor thing was also in tears, and it was shaking just as much as Emolga’s pokeball was.
The artist’s hands were petting the poor bug-type, and the bug-type was trying to settle in the artist’s lap.
They were trying so hard to comfort eachother. It would’ve been super adorable if it wasn’t so sad.
The shining beauty knew exactly what was wrong, beacause it was the same thing that was wrong with her.
“Aww..!” she gushed at the event. “You’re afraid of losing your pokemon, aren’t you?”
“Wh-What if-” she heard him mumble. “What if this is the last time… I ever get to hold him..?” he sobbed as he took the Venipede and gave it an embrace, while the bug-type’s tears seeped into the pink scarf he was wearing.
All the model did was stare, with her mouth open a little bit, due to shock. But why was she so shocked? It was only natural to be scared by this. Maybe it was beacause nobody else seemed to be worried. But *he* was.
Then, for a few seconds, she actually felt a bit irritated.
“Darn it, Burgh, I asked you if something was wrong earlier, beacause I could tell you were upset! But you told me it was nothing! You always do that! Why don’t you ever tell someone if you’re upset?”
“I thought-” he muttered, still in tears, which calmed the shining beauty down (she could never be mad at him for long, anyway). “I-I thought you guys would just say I’m only being a baby… and that…” but he didn’t go on, he just kept crying.
But he didn’t have to - the shining beauty understood.
She quickly pulled up a chair so she could sit next to him.
What she really wanted was to give him a hug, but she didn’t. Instead, she wanted to talk to him, so she tried to figure out where to start.
She started with, “You’re not a baby for being scared. It’s only natural. Hey, I’m scared, too. But you may feel like you have to pretend you’re not scared, just beacause you’re a gym leader. That’s… that’s how I feel sometimes.”
“But aren’t you tired of it?” He asked her. “Aren’t you tired of pretending? I’ve been scared since the moment that green-haired guy made his speech, and I’m sure you’ve been, too! And we’ve had to pretend ever since! It’s… it’s hard to pretend nothing’s wrong.”
She put a hand on his shoulder. “I know it is. Sometimes it’s hard for others to that we’re people, too. We have feelings and emotions. I’m sure even the Elite 4 is scared. Even though they’re not doing anything about it…” she said, a little annoyed. “But I’m sure even they’re scared.”
The artist sighed. “I just wish I was as brave as the rest of you guys. You guys are able to be strong, for them…” he itted as he pet the Venipede in his lap. “But me, well, it feels like everyday I cry like a baby.”
“Are you kidding?” The shining beauty scoffed. “First of all, I think *you’re* the brave one! You’re the one who was able to show your true emotions to your pokemon; you were never afraid to it you were scared. And second, I already said this. You’re not a baby for crying. Heck, just yesterday, Skyla and I were bawling our eyes out for the same reason! And can I be honest? I think I’ve cried everyday, too. Sometimes life is hard, and you just gotta cry, and that’s okay. But what bothers me the most is that no other gym leader seems to be scared.”
“Are you kidding?” said the artist this time. “They’re all terrified! Trust me, I can tell.”
“You can tell? How?”
“Well, everyone’s always told me I’m preceptive. Being an artist, I notice little things that most people wouldn’t notice. So long story short, I can tell they’re pretending not to be scared, like we were.”
The shining beauty replied with, “Ohhhh. So *that’s* how you can always tell when we’re hiding something.”
“Yeah, pretty much,” he said, wiping tears away, beacause he never stopped crying. “Anyways… I’ve had Leavanny since I was 5 years old. And I haven’t had *this* little guy as long,” he said, petting his Venipede again, “but even so, I was still in highschool when I got him. There are some days when only 2 things made me happy - art, and my bug-types. After everything we’ve been through… I just don’t want to lose them…”
And at this point, the shining beauty found herself crying, as well. She sobbed, “I don’t want to lose mine, either…” She wiped tears away before continuing. “I’ve also had my Emolga since I was 5 years old. And Zebstrika, well, she was my mom’s, so she’s been around before I was even born. It’s just… losing them is just so unthinkable. It-”
The reason she stopped talking is beacause she was interrupted by a pokemon coming out of there pokeball.
Suddenly, there was an Emolga in the shining beauty’s lap, who was also in tears, just like everyone else in the room. Quickly, the electric-type embraced its owner and sobbed.
The model felt her hand shaking again. She slowly put her arms around her pokemon, and held her close. All she did was cry even more.
She whispered, “It’ll be okay… I promise it’ll be okay…” even though she was 0% sure it would be okay. She had no idea how things would go. But she obviously didn’t want to say that to Emolga. But she didn’t have to, beacause the pokemon already knew she was only saying that to calm her down.
“...Why?” She heard the artist say. “Why would Team Plasma want to do such a thing? Why would *anyone* want to take people’s pokemon away from them?”
“They think we’re hurting them,” the shining beauty answered, “but why don’t they realize that we don’t make them fight? They don’t fight for us, they fight *with* us. But now… *we* have to fight for *them*,” she said, petting the electric-type.
She stood up, still holding her pokemon. She held out a hand to help the artist up, and he took it, and stood up, as well.
By now, both of the ‘mons were sitting on top of there owner’s heads, and the shining beauty wiped her tears away before also wiping the artist’s away.
“If we win this - no, *when* we win this, we’ll realize that we worried for nothing! We’ll fight for them, and they’ll fight for us. We’ve had ‘em since we were 5 years old! Nothing can beat the bond we have with our ‘mons. I promise.”
“You’re sure?” The artist asked.
“I’m sure,” she answered. And she really was.
And with that, they were walking towards the door, about to go fight for there pokemon.
But just as the shining beauty was about to open the door…
“Elesa?” the artist called to her.
She turned around to hear what he wanted to say.
“Oh, nevermind, I dunno if I should say this…”
“You can tell me anything,” she told him with a smile.
The artist looked like he was blushing a little bit. He took 1 deep breath and said…
“Um… there are some days where only 3 things make me happy. Art, my bug-types, and you. You make me really happy. I know this might be awkward, but Elesa, I really like you. I tried to tell myself that I don’t, but I can’t help it, I really do. At first I thought it was just a crush, but a few weeks ago I realized that I’m in love with-”
He stopped talking beacause he was interrupted - somehow, the artist’s lips were touching the model’s. She had suddenly kissed him. And he didn’t do anything about it, beacause he liked it.
It felt like it was over so fast, beacause after a few seconds, she pulled back and had the biggest smile on her face. She couldn’t stop blushing, and neither could he.
“Wow, I-” she told him. “You don’t know how long I’ve waited to hear you say that to me. I’ve always seen you go to my modeling shows, and I always just assumed it was beacause you had a crush on one of the models. But I never assumed the one you had a crush on was *me..!* I mean, it’s just… *you* liking *me*? I never thought-”
Then she sighed, and said, “I guess what I should’ve said was… I like you too.”
And with that, she gave him another kiss, just a quick peck on the lips this time, and then she smiled at him. Then she turned around to open the door.
The pokemon were still riding on top of there heads when they went downstairs, back to the main room.
The Nacrene leader was the one closest to the stairs. “There you guys are!” she said. “We’re going to go soon.”
She looked at the pokemon riding on there heads, and immediately guessed what happened.
The shining beauty ran off to her best friend to try and calm her down, beacause she assumed the pilot was still scared. She could help her, beacause she wasn’t afraid anymore.
The Nacrene leader took 1 look at the artist and said, “Did she kiss you?”
“Huh? What? You can tell?” he replied, astonished, as he felt his face turning bright red.
“Well, yeah, you don’t wear lipstick normally,” she said with a laugh. “And Elesa’s makeup was all smeared, too. Trust me, a married woman knows what a man looks like when he’s been kissed.”
“Oh…” the artist mumbled as he tried to wipe it off with his sleeve, but the Nacrene leader only laughed again, knowing it does not come off that easily.
“Okay,” they all heard Drayden (the closest thing to there “boss”) say. “Let’s go, guys.”
And with that, 8 out of 11 of Unova’s Gym Leaders went to beat Team Plasma, or at least the Seven Sages. Really, they just wanted to help in any way they could. All they wanted was there pokemon to be safe.
(And, of course, the artist and the model left holding hands. <3)
