Favorite Holiday Gift Ever

When it comes to gifts, this one gift one year was probably the most precious gift I could ever receive. My husband was deployed overseas (this was years ago) of which I thought would be during the holidays. He had already been gone most of the year.

We had both come to understand that we probably wouldn't be seeing each other for the seasonal holidays. Even though we got to chat on the phone or have video calls it still wasn't the same. Though he had sent gifts in the mail for me and the kids, I had them waiting under the tree.

And then I got that wonderful phone call that said, "I'm coming home for Christmas." And in that moment there is nothing that could compare to any gift of any year I have ever received.

Over the years I have been asked time and time again what my favorite holiday gift had been. And every time I respond in kind never changing my answer. The best gift ever was my husband coming home just in time for Yule and Christmas.
