Welcome, darlings~

My finals are complete (and I've officially finished my degree now, which is wild), so I can finally post my challenge entries for the #REScream2025 event!

As the title states, this is my entry for the Individual Event and how I think the RE characters would survive Woodsboro. Obviously, I think all the RE characters could survive Ghostface since they're all total badasses, so this is my thoughts on which character/role they each could potentially be! I'm specifically thinking about Scream (1996) since it's my fave, as my poor attempt at recreating the movie poster probably suggests.

Without further ado, these are my picks for who the RE characters would be in the main cast of Scream...

I mean, really? Could Gale be anybody else? Both Alyssa and Gale are strong-willed journalists, driven by their ambition for the truth. They stop at nothing for answers, even when it puts their own lives at risk, and that's formed them into hardened survivors. Not to mention their surprisingly similar wardrobe and strangely similar appearance in the first film. I find it really difficult to imagine another RE character fulfilling Gale's role, and I think they're both equipped with a similar set of skills to survive Woodsboro.

Perhaps a slightly less obvious choice, I eventually settled on Steve fulfilling Randy's role. I don't think there are many characters in RE who perfectly fit the "horror expert"/geek archetype, but I think the comic relief that Steve provided in CVX is similar to Randy, as well as his slightly socially awkward and slow to trust nature. Additionally, I think Steve meeting a similar fate to Randy isn't too far-fetched considering the events of CVX...

I was really stuck between Claire and Ashley for this choice, as they are both playful, feisty, and fiercely loyal characters much like Tatum, but eventually I settled on Ashley. Beyond their similar appearance and styles, I think both Tatum and Ashley fit the popular, charismatic best friend trope, whilst also sharing the same impulsiveness. Personally, I think Claire is a little too responsible and combat-trained to NOT survive, whereas I could definitely see Ashley (despite her skills) ending up like Tatum if she found herself alone. Additionally, I do personally interpret Leon and Ashley as more like a brother/sister vibe, so I thought it was a cool link between the characters I paired them to.

Speaking of Leon, I think he's a perfect fit for Dewey, especially his RE2 version with 1996 Dewey. Not only are they both fan favourites in the franchise, but they fulfil the slightly goofy/naive, good-hearted cop. I did consider Chris for this role (alongside considering Claire for Tatum), but I think even his RE1 appearance is a little too alert/proactive to fully capture Dewey's character like RE2 Leon could. Moreover, Dewey's dedication to solving the murders felt reminiscent of Leon ing the force to solve the Arklay Mountain murders, and I think they're similarly equipped to survive Woodsboro.

And, of course, Jill would be Sidney. In my opinion, Jill is the ultimate final girl, and I personally consider her the face of RE alongside Chris (much like Sidney is the OG face of Scream). Sarcastic, resilient, resouceful and strong, both Jill and Sidney have all the skills needed to not only survive Woodsboro, but actively seek out the Ghostfaces terrorising it. Besides, they have a similar appearance and both look great in blue!

And those are my picks! If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them, and I've also enjoyed seeing everyone's wonderful entries.
