Comfort will always be the most tempting option. However, it also may backfire. I can say this from expirience, there are times where you more easily can slip back to not wanting to do anything. There are ocasions where you just have to push yourself and take a bolder step outside your comfort zone. Chances are you might end up liking it. Or it might actually be of help.
One of the examples I can set here is the thought of going out to expirience places outside. Its a goal on the daily tasks that should help with de-stressing and depression. But it was also something out of my comfort zone to think of taking a walk or going out to the park, alone. Or pretty much, anywhere on my own. I was overwhelmed one day. I wasn't okay at all. I didn't know what to do with myself. But I thought to myself that I wasn't comfortable where I was. There was a lot of negativity in the house and I couldn't stand it. A part of me as always opts to stay home anyway, out of not wanting to get out of my comfort zone. And I considered that, there and then. So I thought, things can't get any worse at that point no matter what descision I take, but what if I do something different, just for the heck of it? So I did. I decided to go to the park, alone. When I arrived, I was expecting to be greeted with lonliness because its the usual feeling I would get. There was no one around. But instead, as I looked around the area and realized I had it all to myself, it made me happy. Excited, even, over the sense of freedom the space gave me. Since then, I've been more consistent in going out to the park.
It can be difficult to gauge when or where getting out of the comfort zone is a good idea. But sometimes its more effective, and sometimes even necessary.
