Nine months later, Helen gave birth to a beautiful girl named Lucile.

Charles was notified that Eloise Woods had ed away (Florence's mother and Pearl's grandmother). He couldn't help but his late wife, so as he always did, he sought comfort in an animal.

Lucile was growing fast, and Helen felt sad all the time, because she reminded her of her previous pregnancy. She developed postpartum depression.

As she grew, they noticed that she had some parts of her skin more pale, so they took her to the doctor. He assured them that it wasn't contagious, but they should keep an eye on it. Helen was a bit concerned about her and how people would treat her because of it.

Meanwhile, the ranch still needed to be taken care of, so Charles focused on that and let Helen take care of Lucile. Pearl's knitting skills were getting a lot better!

One day Samuel (Charles's best friend) came to visit, so Charles introduced him to his daughter.

Ethel would often sleep on the couch (were she was technically not allowed), but when anyone saw her there, no one dared to wake up such a cute puppy.

Charles continued his tasks at the ranch, especially gardening, as he had abandoned it for a while. He also enjoyed taking Ethel out for a walk every now and then.

She's just so cute.

Pearl's friendship with the mini sheeps only grew stronger. She would spend a lot of time with them.

A few months later, they received the news that George Jr. was getting married to a woman named Amelia Allen, who came to visit before the wedding.
