Amelia's POV

I didn't think it would feel like this.

I knew something was wrong. Theo had been acting strange all week, and I thought he had just got in trouble. But when he told me...when he said he was moving...it felt like something inside me cracked.

Not just leaving school. Not just some different school bus.

He's leaving Henford, and for good.

We've been best friends since we were three. Theo is the only person who really sees me. Even when I'm quiet. Even when I don't know what to say.

He always... knows.

And now he's going to San Sequoia.

A place I've only heard about on TV.

New school, new friends...

New everything.

And I won't be able to see him.

I should be happy for him. It's an exciting opportunity to get accepted into a private school.

He's very smart, kind and funny in ways he doesn't even try to be.

He said he won't forget me. That we'll always be best friends.

But I've never told him how I feel, how I really feel about him.

And now... I might never get the chance.

I like Theo.

Not just as a best friend...

Is this what having a crush and feelings are like? What will happen when I get older?

Now he's leaving, I'll never know if maybe...possibly...he might feel the same way.

Our summer holidays are soon approaching. 7 weeks of summer fun before he leaves. We have many things planned, and I'm looking forward to them. Will I tell him? I-I don't know. I'm scared to.

Maybe some things aren't meant to be.

But I will never forget him.

I couldn't, even if I tried
