Please Note:
What you are about to read is pretty disturbing for a Smash title. I'm only explaining everything lightly so you don't get that much disturbed. If you can't understand anything I tell you, even if it's spoilers, feel free to look stuff up if you feel like you don't know what that thing is.

Before we begin...how does this "Mode" work?
__________________________________________________
The Abyss is the True Final Story that shows itself after "You've beaten all odds and accomplished all trials." In other words, just 100% the game and beat the EX difficulty Modes on each of 10 Sub-games that have them.
This story is so big, you'll have to play it on a second disc! Yeah really! The content of the second disc will unlock as soon as you unlock this mode on the first one. Anyway, the main gimmick is more or less the same as The Final Story. Sure you'll still have worlds to travel to, but instead of a stage that acts in between each set, you'll have to traverse a maze in the catacombs. The pattern goes something like this...
- Go through a maze in the style of the World of Light map, and don't let your fighter's light go out or else surfer by the hands of a monster exclusive to each individual maze.
- Choose between one of two worlds at a time that are harder and longer than before.
- Power through the levels without driving your fighters mad.
- Beat the boss and find the source of the Insaniton spread.
- Destroy the Insaniton core and proceed to the next maze and the next set of worlds.
- Rinse and repeat until the end.
You see, each of the fighters have their own source of light that keeps the monsters in check. Your job is to get to the end of a maze to proceed to the next set of worlds. But be warned, you only have one life per character. Which means that if you lose a fighter, they're permanently gone from your party. If your light expires 3 times in a row, or if you run out of fighters to use, something unspeakable will come and [redacted]!
Every Fighter also has a sanity meter that'll be impacted depending on the things that occur during the worlds. Each fighter is scared by different things, so it's best to know when to switch and who to switch to when it happens. If you do things, like take too much damage, get jumpscared, or even trigger an indirect trauma, your Fighter will lose sanity. Lose too much sanity and the fighter you're playing as will begin to feel the sanity effects from Eternal Darkness 2.
Sanity Effects usually trigger when entering a room or level, and can sometimes be triggered by interacting with the environment (most commonly by picking up items). The lower the Meter is when entering a room, the more likely a Sanity Effect will occur and the more severe it will be. Some are merely cosmetic, though most will seemingly hinder or outright harm the player. When a seemingly-harmful Sanity Effect ends, the screen flashes a bright white, after which everything returns to normal as the player is teleported to wherever they were when the sanity effect began (almost always meaning whichever door the player walked through last) and exclaims something along the lines of: "This can't be happening!" or "This isn't really happening!" Usually, if a Sanity Effect is present, then you will not be able to escape its effects and resume regular gameplay until it plays out. These effects are mainly active in the platforming levels, but on some occasions those effects will make it harder to choose an option when the time comes. Here are the following effects:
- When entering a room, the character may turn into a Insaniton, and "die" a moment later or after going through some doors.
- Attempting to use any healing spells may cause the character's torso to explode, resulting in a (fake) death of the character.
- When entering a room, the character's limbs may explode in a systematic order, going for the head, the arms and then the torso, resulting in a (fake) death of the character.
- When entering a room, the character may shrink or grow while moving.
- When entering a room and when holding a gun, the character can shoot at nothing at random times or turn around and shoot at the camera leaving a fake bullet hole in the screen. (Similar to the Prologue of the James Bond movies, and in Resident Evil 2.)
- When attempting to reload a reloadable weapon, it may go off in the character's stomach, resulting in a (fake) death of the character.
- When entering a room, the character's head falls off (but can be picked up), and levitates on screen reciting "HAMLET".
- The screen goes black, as if the TV went off.
- Bugs may appear to be crawling on the TV screen.
- The game will lower the gameplay volume while displaying a silver volume bar, similar to real on-screen TV settings.
- The screen goes black and changes to "VIDEO" mode, and you will hear your character getting eaten until they "die".
- Upon saving your game, a message will say, "Are you sure you want to delete all of your Saved Games?" Regardless of your choice, the saved files will be "deleted".
- A "Blue Screen of Death" system error will appear.
- The game will pretend to reset and you will see the warning message you see when you usually start up or reset the disc on your console.
- When you open your inventory screen, your entire inventory space appears empty.
- When entering a room, the game will suppress all inputs and give it a fake "controller disconnected" error message while the many enemies attack the player.
- The camera begins leaning as the Sanity Meter lowers.
- When entering a room, the environment may be upside down.
- Blood will drip from the walls and/or ceiling. Hitting the walls may cause them to bleed more.
- When entering a room, the character will sink into the ground completely as if it was quicksand.
- Statues and busts may turn to look at the character.
- Sometimes when a player enters a room, they will find that all the doors leading out will be locked, but will be unlocked shortly after (providing they weren't locked before).
- Sometimes when entering a room, an effect will occur where there is an abundance of ammunition lying around. It can be picked up, but will disappear once the effect is over.
- When entering a room occasionally, some enemies will appear to be tiny.
- Upon entering an area you will be surrounded by enemies which disappear after one hit.
- Teleporting back to the room you just left after getting halfway down a hallway.
- When entering a room you will walk away from the door or walk by a door and you will hear door banging sounds nearby.
- When you walk by an area, you will hear heavy footstep noises or water waves crashing, knife shaving sounds, low-pitch voices, and a loud gunshot or zombie giggling sounds.
- When entering a room with many enemies you will get a (fake) death just by getting seen.
- When entering a room, Gigantic Enemies can sometimes appear, they tower over the player.
- The gameplay's sound will mute.
- A loading screen will appear to take forever to finish.
- You'll switch to the wrong character when entering a room, but they'll still have the sounds of the fighter you were playing as before the effect.
- When pausing the game, the gameplay will sound like it wasn't really paused at all.
- Your character will randomly express a Mental Shutdown from Persona 5 and fall over as they do a (fake) death.
- Kirby suddenly gets the wrong Copy Ability. It switches back to the real ability after using the attack 3 times or at a random point after obtaining that ability.
- Sometimes, childish or cowardly characters will be too scared to attack.
- Villain or easily enraged characters like Bowser and Ganondorf lose their minds and you can't control them as they go on a rampage defeating every enemy on screen.
- Fighters like Samus or Lucina who have a trauma have that trauma flash on screen at random times and it renders them unable to attack for a short bit.
- You'll sometimes see double of the same character and it doesn't do anything else except follow your movements.
I'll get in deeper on what else the sanity meter affects later, but if you don't cure every character's sanity by not playing as that fighter for that round, or by helping overcome the trauma, you'll lose that character and you'll get a bad ending.
If you game over or get a bad ending in this mode, you'll have to start all over again, so be careful. There are also endings depending on who lives and who dies, and what set of worlds have you gone through, so you might want to make it perfect to see the true ending!

Prologue: In the beginning...
__________________________________________________
A long time ago, an ancient being known as The Mother spread terror all across the lands. It didn't matter how strong they were, no one would stand in the way of her wrath. It wasn't until the arrival of the original 70+ who survived the apocalypse and defeated The Mother before she could destroy all of humanity. But after all that, it still doesn't make any sense, why would she destroy all of humanity because of sin? Surely there's some sort of ulterior motive besides humanity acting foolish to her own eyes. And what exactly happened after the supposed "final" chapter? Most of the heroes didn't even ascend into a greater power yet until the very end. After that, everything involving Eternia seemed quiet, too quiet. For a long time, nobody knew the reason why everyone was suddenly stronger than The Mother. The loose ends were never tied up in such a long while and everyone else was too scared to look for the answers to this question.
The mystery was never solved.
Until....
A strange plague known only as "Insanity Syndrome" began to spread across a few of the worlds. The victims had gone completely insane, as a result of someone tampering with the cognitive world itself. Nobody knew what was happening to their loved ones but Master Hand and Crazy Hand found a strange temple that seems to be the cause of the problems. They found out the truth of what happened here and why the goddess Eternia died and The Mother took her place. Everything found down here was apart of Goddess Eternia in some form or another. Her many creations created to slaughter, abandoned magic and secrets that were never asked to keep, and the complete corruption of the worlds that never stood a chance. Sure there was some form of purity in this rotting wasteland, but every trace of holy power has been replaced by demonic spawn that even Satan couldn't comprehend. All this, combined with the pure anger and insanity felt by many mortals, makes this place even worse than hell itself.
This is a story of one's struggle to prevent corruption, and the escape from the hole before madness struck. This is the place where good and evil never meant anything, in fact, it was never good at all, but it was more corrupt than anything evil would've invented. This is more than any hole any mortal could dig up. It's origins were so abysmal, many mortals wouldn't dare to set foot in that place once they did. When mankind does speak of it, they only refer to it by a title. A title that should've never been used in such a matter even for those who use theories to soften the impact of that title. This is the story of the moment where everything falls into place, for better and worse.
This is a tale that shouldn't have been told....the True Final Story....

Various reports claimed that children have been disappearing when they go inside a strange temple that was placed near the main villages by an unknown force. Many rumors claim that the temple's appearance was what caused the insanity plague. Everyone gathered as they pondered whether they should investigate or not. Realising that history was repeating itself, Master Hand and Crazy Hand proposed that everyone will have a week to prepare for the worst. Most of the other heroes chickened out because they're still trying to recover from the whole "Mother" incident. Some just didn't want to because they didn't care, or maybe it was because they didn't want to face a big threat like that.
Out of all the people that could've come, only the original 70+ and a few other teams, who just recently started becoming chosen ones, stepped up to the plate. The catacombs looked very much like the underground segments they encountered so many times before, but as they progressed on the light began to fade darker and darker. The field felt distorted as reality faded in and out between two settings. One moment, it was just an ordinary underground area, filled with stone cold rocks that keep aiming down. The next moment, it was filled with blood, strange writings on the walls, and corpses of many kinds, including but not limited to rats, snakes and even humans.
Suddenly they heard a familiar cry, it sounded savage, hellish, and above all, insane. Now normally we'd just assume some psychopath is down here and run back up to the surface, but this very sound, everyone has heard it before. They saw a strange pink gooey substance, with one red eye that looked very human like. It was an Insaniton, but something felt off about it. It turned from a fresh pink into a dark violet, it's eye twitched more times than usual, and some flesh was exposed from the small creature. It looked at everyone with tears in it's eye and it howled a broken howl. And with that howl, it's eye glowed a dark blood crimson, a color that it normally wouldn't have. Everyone began to worry as Mario said...
"Mama Mia, what did we get ourselves into?"

The Worlds:
__________________________________________________
After each maze, you'll encounter a set of two worlds at a time. Each world is basically as long as the game they debuted in was, which means most of these worlds are so long that they encourage you to save after every world because of its length. There are some safe spots where you can save and change your character lineup, but even those don't show up until at least the second half of a world. There are two kinds of worlds, each having a different impact on the game...
Portals that lead to Disturbing Worlds are red. Those worlds can do massive damage to a character's sanity, but in the process make the next round easier and have less Insanitons appear during that world. Now while this may be easier, you'll have to deal with fighters constantly losing sanity after each world and risk a bad ending. Eternia uses these worlds as her main source of insanity, so she'll be able to corrupt it in one sitting if she must. Her power is mainly fueled by insanity, so saving disturbing worlds can really reduce her power.
Portals that lead to Calm Worlds are blue. While they don't affect a Fighter's sanity that much, the next world they visit will be harder if you leave at least one disturbing world alone. If you want to challenge yourself, play through all the calm worlds if you must, but know very well that if not enough disturbing worlds were visited during your quest, you'll be guaranteed to get a bad ending. These worlds also indicate that you're too scared to face the scary side of the portal paths. The worlds here may not have that big of an impact on Eternia's power, but they have at least one thing about them she can drain dry.
You'll need the perfect balance of both sides in order to prevent yourself from getting a bad ending. Go to the calm worlds when you think insanity is getting the best of you, but go to the disturbing worlds to make other worlds easier and make Eternia weaker. And keep an eye out for those pesky Warp Zones, they'll take you to secret worlds where it's possible to get the best ending. The main benefit of the secret worlds is that they skip past everything else from the world you came from and that they take you straight to the main boss battle, or at least close enough to it, once you complete the secret world and return to the world you came from.
Let's go over the world list in order, and that each singular world is paired with another...
The Disturbed....

Postal Dude (Misunderstanding and corruption.)

Point and click, or tap the screen, to help make choices and solve problems to stop AM.
Source of insanity:
AM itself. Filled with hatred for humans.

Source of insanity:
Joy. An addictive drug that, when used constantly, it drives the into a state of sudden mutation.
Main Boss:
Joy Amalgamation (Forged by nearly everyone except Brad and Buddy. This'll drop several sanity bars.)

6 fights

Length:
5 Zones.

An estimated two hours.

Each character has their own water mechanic, but not all of them can breathe air. Thankfully air bubbles are supplied in case you play as someone who canonically can't breathe underwater. Use ecco location too to solve more puzzles.

The ghosts. Even Sachiko is having trouble battling these foes.
(No boss. Just a lot of dead ends.)

"The final disturbing world. If you ever want to survive, you'll have to prepare to meet up with the demon king himself. Little do you know, a fallen knight will come to assist you from there on."
Length:
About a couple battles, plus a boss.
Main Mechanic:
Random encounters, again represented as Smash battles, nuff said.
Source of insanity:
Oersted...? For some reason all of the Insanitons are connected with him....
Main Boss:
Pure Odio.
It turns out that one of Odio's ancestors, Lord Odion, played a part in driving Eternia mad. Oersted of course went down to The Abyss to prove that he is not like Odio. In the end, Oersted once again succumbs to madness and he temporarily became Odio again. Whether you visit this world or not, Oersted will still snap out of it briefly to keep going deeper into the pit.
The Calm....

9 F*cking hours!? (And 1 safe zone for each one.)
Main Mechanic:
Nothing but zombie bashing. You'll meet up with psychopaths from all 3 games, but why are they all alive...?
Source of insanity:
The psychopaths. Their insanity fuels HER power.
Main Boss:
Zombie Golem (A original combination of zombie and Insaniton, with the brains of the psychopaths.)

"Two different worlds, a slightly familiar presence, and there's only one way out of it...climbing a tower!"
Length:
9 Stages.
Main Mechanic:
Watch as Vincent is caught between a love triangle in the real world, and do the same block moving shenanigans in the dreams. Characters like Bowser or Knuckles can easily beat the system by climbing without moving any blocks.
Source of insanity:
Dreamy Catherine. That appearance alone is enough to harness power.
Main Boss:
Dreamy Catherine. (A nickname by Luigi)
(#4) Hope's Peak Academy (Danganronpa)
"It's the ultimate class trial! It's you versus the world in this one, see if you can face every Danganronpa character from 1 to V3 and even those from Another Episode and 3!"

One case, and it's a big one.
Main Mechanic:
Take the role of one of your chosen heroes as you try to solve the ultimate trial. Someone had killed Monokuma, and with everyone resurrected or forced to come, 3 people (plus the mastermind) had a good reason to kill him. Kurokuma will be the host as you play in the style of Danganronpa.

The Cult. They think Insanitons are even more powerful than the Black Goat.
Main Boss:
Shadow Mae.

"In this wonderful world, lead the Lemmings to victory as you make sacrifices to help them reach the promised land."
Length:
30 levels.
Main Mechanic:
Guide the Lemmings by selecting skills for them for them to use. All the old skills return for more as you use them in ways you never could think of.
Source of insanity:
The Lemmings themselves!? Well at least the ones that were "sacrificed" to help their "friends".
Main Boss:
Lemming Abomination.
(#10) Rupture Farms (Abe's Oddysse)
"It's two sides for the price of one! As the fighters, smash your way into the factory to stop the Insaniton mass producing. As Abe, save your fellow mudokons before they turn into "Pink stuff"!"
Length:
About a few hours.
Main Mechanic:
The fighters play the same as they ever did. But during the times you play as Abe, you'll play exactly like you did in his game. Sure he's weak in combat, but he'll have to guide the mudokons using your game speak ability, and even control other enemies using that power.
Source of insanity:
The Mudokons. After being forced to be worked and tortured to the bone, those that went insane are placed in a machine where they are mass produced as "Pet Pinkys" AKA the Insanitons.
Main Boss:
Mudokon Abomination.
(#11) World of Nothing (Action 52)
"It's Action 52! It has 52 universes in one! Play them all to....why does this feel empty...?"

Short, but scary.
Main Mechanic:
Nothing.
Source of insanity:
The insanity of the ones that have fallen. This universe was taken out effortlessly, but the Cheetah Men survived the onslaught and became the only surviving out of sheer dumb luck.
Main Boss:
"51 In 1" (Another abomination.)
(#12) Eversion
"This creature can change worlds!? Maybe we can find the Insanitons in one of the layers, but which one...?"
Length:
7 Worlds
Main Mechanic:
Same as Eversion, you get to change worlds at the tap of the button after going through an eversion point.
Source of insanity:
Everything in the "Minus" layer. They hid there as they transformed that world into a monster of its own.
Main Boss:
(None. But good try.)
(#13) Extra World (Anywhere you haven't been...)
"Here's your change to save one more world before it disappears forever. Select any world you didn't visit for one last reality check. Please, save the one you think matters the most. Fail, and Eternia will be too strong to defeat..."
You'd have to choose which one is more important. Saving Oersted and having him your party, or saving another world to weaken Eternia, but watch as Oersted gets consumed with hatred...
Secret Worlds:
Inaba (Persona 4)
"Wow, you did a bear-y good job! You uncovered the secret of the fours and have unlocked this super secret world! Great job!"
How to unlock:
In Catherine, befriend the 3 girls all at once and in the fourth dream on the fourth floor, climb down instead of up on the fourth step of the tower.
Length:
About a hour.
Main Mechanic:
Similar to Persona 5, explore the castles, build your relationships, all the while using your rebellious spirit to guide you.
Source of insanity:
The Cognitive world itself. Here you'll find out that Eternia has the capability to alter the cognitions of other people. The Insanitons have to possess the ones controlling the cognition at least once in order to change that victim's cognition.
Main Boss:
Shadow Yu (Cloned)
The house of a child. (Tattletail)
"Hurray! You didn't kill anybody! Now you can come play with the Tattletails! In this bonus level, you'll skip the rest of Postal, but first you'll have to take your friends to Mama! She isn't feeling very good, and we need to make her a get well card so she can feel better again."
How to unlock:
In Postal, in the first Postal Dude level, don't kill any civilians as Postal Dude. You'll know when you're on to something when Mephiles reminds you to "stop thinking about your life." Afterward, go into the house that looks like the one in Tattletail and enter the door into a Warp Zone.
Length:
About 30 minutes at least.
Main Mechanic:
In a first person perspective, you'll constantly hold the Tattletail for guidance. Follow Tattletail's instructions and make a get well soon card for Mama.
Source of insanity:
Mama. Her ai is corrupt, but the Insanitons took her heart away. The Tattletail's believe that making a get well soon card will make her better.
Main Boss:
Corrupted Mama.
Croutonian empire (The Lost Vikings)
"Brilliant! You found a viking boat and it took you to a bonus world! You'll need our help to stop these aliens from experimenting on you, so don't be afraid to switch from one to the other on a dime!"
How to unlock:
In Ecco, when you're near the surface of the water in the first level, wait 15 seconds before you drown and then jump out of the water in a straight line. You'll land on a viking boat which contains a Warp Zone.
Length:
37 Stages
Main Mechanic:
Switch between the 3 vikings and even the fighters and use their unique skills to help you progress.
Source of insanity:
None. For some reason there's a lack of Insaniton in this world.
Main Boss:
Tomator.
Lands of meat (Super Meat Boy)
"Hey! You found my world! Now that you conducted the ritual of the drumsticks, you can now enter the world of not so easy jumping and difficult challenges! It's long, but it's definitely worth it!"
How to unlock:
In the Binding of Issac, keep every piece of meat you find there instead of using it to heal. Conduct a sacred ritual and place the meat on the circle correctly to summon a Warp Zone portal.
Length:
200 levels.
Main Mechanic:
No fighting for now. Every character has to use their own gimmick of jumping to make it through.
Source of insanity:
All of the monsters spawned from hell. Their sanity feels off.
Main Boss:
Dr Fetus.
The lands of woe. (I Wanna Be The Guy)
"You found my world!? And all you needed to do was select it in the options menu!? Man you are so dead, my world is 10 times harder than all the other worlds combined! But I'm a generous man, so for this world only, I'll grant you infinite lives. You're gonna need them, trust me."
How to unlock:
In Pony Island, there's literally an option to open a Warp Zone in the "game's" options.
Length:
5 levels...?
Main Mechanic:
One hit deaths, tricky mechanics, it's as hard as it gets.
Source of insanity:
The original Guy. He clearly went with the Insaniton's plan just so his son could feel despair for the loss of his friends.
Main Boss:
The Guy.
Apocalyptic City. (Twisted Metal)
"You found a world where only the strongest survive. Who would've guessed a simple code could be explained backwards. The modes of transportation you possess have been modified for the purpose of fighting. Use them wisely if you want to survive this cruel world."
How to unlock:
In Thrill Kill, insert the Konami code in reverse during the loading screen to enter a Warp Zone.
Length:
6 rounds
Main Mechanic:
Your fighter's signature vehicle will be modified to take part in a kart battle to the death. Think of it like Mario Kart's Battle Mode, just with more destruction and missiles.
Source of insanity:
Calypso. Strangely you don't fight him, but you do fight...
Main Boss:
"Monster" Truck! (An abomination forged from the loser's battle vehicles.)
Suggested Order:
Getting the best ending is really tricky. Some endings will have you befriending Oersted, while other endings do not. If you feel stumped on what to do, and which worlds cause which endings, here's my preferred order to get the best ending.
- First visit Alice and discover the concept of cognitions.
- Next, to balance it out, go to I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream. It's long, but if you power through it you should be fine.
- Now try Catherine and access Persona 4 from there.
- Next, go to Pony Island and access I Wanna Be The Guy from there.
- Now go to Doki Doki Literature Club for your first Super Cognition
- Thrill Kill comes next and Twisted Metal can be accessed from there.
- Now go to OFF and then switch gears again to Spooky's House of Jumpscares.
- Next, go to Ecco and then the Lost Vikings World.
- The Binding of Issac and Super Meat Boy come next.
- Then top it all off with Eversion and retrying Postal. From there you'll play through Tattletail.
Now normally this order would be beneficial to you in nearly every way, but I forgot to explain one important detail that can derail the whole thing...

The Super Cognitions...
__________________________________________________
When you enter Wonderland, you learn at Eternia is slowly infecting the minds of everyone around them. This is demonstrated when some of the fighters began to question themselves. Sure the Phantom Thieves can change their hearts in Mementos, but for some reason it doesn't work properly. The only ways to increase a Fighter's sanity is by not playing as them for a extended period of time, find something in a world to cure them, or by using sanity restoring items found in the worlds.
Unfortunately, some residents, and even the fighters themselves, have Super Cognitions. Which is pretty much a conjunction of different cognition based physics. And it triggers itself in the form of a cognitive spiral that forces everyone nearby to be sucked in. These new distortions are a combination of...
- Alice's Wonderland. It looks like that person's happy place, but more distorted than normal.
- Persona 5. There is a ruler of the cognition called a Shadow Self. Whatever happens in the real world will affect the cognition in a way. They cling to a specific memory instead of a item relating to that memory however, and the Shadow Self represents how they felt when that memory was forged.
- Persona 4. If the victim of that cognition denies their Shadow Self, then they'll transform into a more vicious version of themselves until the victim accepts their Shadow and moves on. This will destroy the Super Cognition and from then on, their sanity will decrease in a extremely low rate.
- Wario Land 4. Once the cognition is accepted, then a portal will appear at the entrance as you have a limited amount of time to escape the cognition before it collapses, don't worry though, you can retry at any time.
Super Cognitions you'll find in worlds:
These are encountered in some of the worlds and these once normal location will become distorted thanks to the influence of Insanitons.
![Super Smash Bros Megamix: The Abyss (Remake)-[CBI]Word Count:
[IC]11521 (Wow! I almost maxed out for a second...)
[CBI]Time](https://image.staticox.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fpm1.aminoapps.programascracks.com%2F7350%2F950255ddb0a3af21d6d21f49b9146dc3af73eb8cr1-720-1160v2_hq.jpg)
Gates of Hell (Isaac's distortion)
"I'm the devil! My parents can go to hell!"
Cognition:
It takes place in a hellish place that looks similar to his mother's basement. Most of the enemies that appeared in the game appear here.
Shadow Self:
It looks like the devil itself. He "sins" those who try to disturb him and commands a large number of monsters.
Trauma:
His mother trying to murder him and his father leaving him.
Corrupted Wonderland (Alice's Cognition)
"Everything is happy, everything is fine. I never want to leave my mind..."
Cognition:
Same as her regular wonderland, but much worse.
Shadow Self:
She's always happy, and she quickly denies of any danger right in front of her. She clearly looks like Alice, but with torn clothes, messed up hair and a mentally broken stare.
Trauma:
The arrival of the Insanitons combined with her house burned to the ground.
Queen's Castle (Monika's distortion)
"I hereby decree that MC shall remain as my faithful king for all eternity."
Cognition:
At the time, Monika thought of herself as the queen of a castle. She used her position to be alone with just the MC, and nothing else could stop her.
Shadow Self:
She's a queen of hearts who speaks like a modern day queen. She also has a jerky personality somewhere tucked in there.
Trauma:
Seeing MC remove her heart and causing her to glitch out. (At least that's what she thought happened.)
Puzzling Objects. (Mae's distortion)
"All I see...are nothing but dead shapes....no wonder I broke down that day..."
Cognition:
Just like her "episodes", her cognition is completely made out of ordinary shapes. Even the shadows take a shape-like form.
Shadow Self:
Desperate for recovery, she constantly tries to convince herself that this mistake wasn't an act. When Mae screamed that she wasn't her, instead of laughing like the rest of them, she became heartbroken as she turned into "herself"
Trauma:
She had an episode and began to see everyone as shapes. One time, she even beat one of the softball with a bat...yikes...
Fighter Exclusive Traumas:
Not even the fighters are safe from Eternia's influence. If certain fighters lose too much sanity, you won't be able to use that Fighter for the rest of that world. And immediately after that world, a portal will be opened uncontrollably as it takes the heroes to a Super Cognition of their own. If you beat that Cognition, that fighter's sanity will never drop to 0 for the rest of the game. If you have more than one of these characters traumatized, you'll have to make a choice while being unable to use the one you didn't choose until after the next world where you'll go to their Cognition. And BTW, if at least one sanity meter is low by the time you get to the endgame, it's an instant bad ending!
Ghost Ship (Mario's Cognition)
"That man was working with Bowser! How could I ever trust him!?"
Cognition:
The same ghost ship as Mario imagined it. Eyeless Boos all around, corpses swimming about and a Mushroom with a disturbing face on it.
Shadow Self:
Mario here is mostly the same man he was, but he looked slightly younger and his clothing looked like his Mario World counterpart. He was stubborn and cold hearted as he tries to deny the truth of Luigi in his world.
Trauma:
The Creepypasta of "I Hate You" but in the form of a nightmare Mario had.
Abandoned Planet (Samus's Cognition)
"The big creature killed mama and papa. I couldn't do anything to help...I feel so useless..."
Cognition:
Her original home planet, now in ruins.
Shadow Self:
Samus as a young child. She suspected Samus wouldn't do something about herself and she begged Samus to cheer up about the friends she made. Unfortunately, Samus's PTSD was triggered upon returning to this world and she screamed at herself and Shadow Samus began to cheer her up by giving her a monster to take her anger out on.
Trauma:
Ridley and the destruction of her home. We're using the manga as a reference here, not Other M.
Gloomy Magicant (Ness's Cognition)
"I wanna go home! I don't wanna do this anymore!"
Cognition:
Same as Magicant, but it feels even lonelier than before with little enemies to fight.
Shadow Self:
This Ness is wearing a black hoodie, but he uses it like a bedtime blanket. He doesn't hold back on saying that he wants his mommy back and that he would do anything to see her again. Ness eventually accepts that he's tired of adventuring, but Joker gives him confidence to know that his mother would be proud of him for saving the universes.
Trauma:
Homesickness. He's been trying to hide it for a long time.
Darkest Lair (Ganondorf's Cognition)
"That's me alright, a raging beast who can't control his temper..."
Cognition:
It looks like Ganon's Castle but it's more black and overaggressive.
Shadow Self:
Looks like Ganondorf, but he is completely wrapped in shadows and is constantly on the aggressive side. He doesn't speak, but he roars like the beast he is.
Trauma:
Self-control issues over the Triforce of Power.
Sanctuary of Life (Lucina's Cognition)
"I shall grant you all indefinite life, stay here forever and you shall never worry about death again..."
Cognition:
It's a exotic location in the desert. With an oasis, water fountains all around and a resting chamber underground.
Shadow Self:
She appears as a goddess who wants nothing more than to care for everyone and keep everyone safe. When people reject her good intentions, she tries her best to stay calm only for her to snap if they say anything against her father.
Trauma:
The stress of losing his father, combined with the fear that the Insanitons are becoming stronger than them all began to drive her crazy with fear.
Shadow Dungeon (Mr Game and Watch's Cognition)
"Emptiness. That's all we feel."
Cognition:
An empty space with no idea what the building is supposed to look like.
Shadow Self:
A purple Game and Watch who actually talks. He is a emotionless empty being who has given up any hope of redemption. Once that redemption arrives, Mr Game and Watch gained the ability to talk himself once he found his heart.
Trauma:
The fact that he thinks that he's no different from the Insanitons after him. Shadow Bugs and Insanitons are 2 completely alike beings.
Forest of Delusion (Lucas's Cognition)
"Hi tree! You can talk to me if you want, I won't tell anyone you live here."
Cognition:
It's in the forest, the same forest where his mother died.
Shadow Self:
This Lucas is what he would've been like if he went insane and stayed in the forest. He looks like the real Lucas as a child, but he keeps talking to the trees as if they had anything to do with him.
Trauma:
His mother's death. Something must've reactivated this one...
City of the ruins (Sonic's Cognition)
"Everyone was so close to being killed, there was no reason Eggman could simply turn everything into monsters."
Cognition:
It's an entire city filled with neon lights and animals from Sonic's world.
Shadow Self:
This Sonic is depressed and trying to stay upbeat, completely unlike him at all. He also has survivor's guilt from nearly losing his friends to a virus. If anything tries to hurt him or his "friends" he'll become aggressive to anyone who tries to calm him down.
Trauma:
Nearly losing the world to the Metal Virus almost driven Sonic into desperation. If the last resort didn't work, he would've lost everything and so much more.
Heaven's Fortress (Pit's Cognition)
"I'll never let anyone harm Lady Palutena! No matter what it takes, I'll keep her safe from anymore harm!"
Cognition:
It's a palace in the clouds. Do we have to go into detail?
Shadow Self:
This Pit is desperately trying to protect Palutena from any harm. He's developed a sense of paranoia and ruthlessness when it comes to his job. To him, it doesn't who or what he hurts, all that matters is keeping Palutena safe.
Trauma:
After seeing Palutena possessed by Eternia, he had no choice but to fight the mad goddess and he almost killed her. From that moment onward, he absolutely refused to let Palutena get even a tiny bit hurt. He recovered for a bit during the first confrontation of The Mother, but The Abyss is way more dangerous and it drove him into a state of emergency.
Factory Wreckage (Megaman's Cognition)
"EXTERMINATE THREAT. SEEK AND DESTROY AT ALL COSTS."
Cognition:
It looks like a broken factory, filled with the Robot Masters of Mega-Man's past.
Shadow Self:
A revenge fueled robot who will obliterate anyone he sees.
Trauma:
Having Dr Willy constantly escape from his crimes has definitely been something that's frustrating this emotional robot.
Hall of Fame (Little Mac's Cognition)
"Come at me!!! Don't be shy! I'll kill all of you!!"
Cognition:
It looks like a giant golden stadium with a built in rooftop boxing ring.
Shadow Self:
He looks like a pro boxer with a champion's belt and without a shirt. He acts similar to his counterpart in Abobo's Big Adventure, obsessed, power crazy and even sadistic.
Trauma:
His fear of constantly fighting and becoming too prideful drove him into retirement. Now being forced to fight again started taking its toll as he began to lose his mind.
Junior's Fun House (Bowser Jr's Cognition)
"I have a father, a mother, and my sisters and brothers! I'm not gonna let you take them away from me!"
Cognition:
It looks like one giant carnival building with all kinds of twisted stuff formed from the young child's mind.
Shadow Self:
He acts similar to his real self, but his father looks like a businessman and a Peach look alike called Mama Bowser is married to him.
Trauma:
When Bowser Jr felt like his father wasn't paying that much attention to him, he was manipulated by the Insanitons to conjure a world of imagination.
Orderly Chaos (Richter's Cognition)
"The Belmonts focus too much on fighting vampires and monsters when they should be protecting their friends!"
Cognition:
It's another castle with a giant wall protecting it.
Shadow Self:
Overprotective of everyone in the cognition and his ego jumps to conclusions too quickly to think for himself.
Trauma:
After seeing Corrupt Antetae, he had concerns for protecting everyone.
Joker's Cognition
(Assume whatever you will in this video)
??? (Coming Soon.)

The Endgame...
__________________________________________________
You'll know if you're at the best ending if a bad ending doesn't trigger when entering the depths of The Abyss. In the final few worlds, everything plays similar to the Subspace Emissary as a whole. With the dimensions crossing over at a more alarming rate, every universe that wasn't saved will have to be saved within The Abyss's Final few levels...

????:
"I need to be perfect! All of those lower life forms have weakened me during their "Final" Battle. Since then, I've been trapped in my own rotting landscape using my minions to distort the minds of the human race. The plan would've worked too, but those same heroes just had to interfere with a goddess! Because of them, the mortals are getting harder to drain their minds. Pure insanity is what fuels me, but all of those mortals hate to lose what they love...WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT!? MANKIND HAVE TAKEN MY HOPES AWAY FROM ME, WHY SHOULDN'T I TAKE THEIR HOPES AWAY FROM THEM!?!? I hate humans! I despise them with all of my aching heart...But don't worry...Lord Odion, there's nothing to fear yet....All I have to do is get rid of the problem....and then everything will die...and from there, I'll create a world where no humans are around to sin where they shouldn't be. I'll make it all exactly how The Almighty Father pictured it, a place where no one lives in violence or depression. Happiness. That's the only thing keeping everyone away from me... They think that as long as they have feelings, they shouldn't be able to listen to me!? They think I'm a monster who messes with their minds!? I am one aren't I? NO!!! What I'm doing is right!! I'm trying to help humanity by slaughtering it, that way there will be no more sin, no more corruption, no more anything about mortals!!! Everything was going perfectly until He created humanity!! WHAT HE CREATED WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A ENTIRE PLANET FILLED WITH CHAOS AND DISORDER!!! I can still fix everything, I'll kill every last one of those precious humans that He loves. I'll start with you all. Everything was going as planned...until you showed up. Do you even know who you're dealing with...? Back then, I was holding back because I thought you fools would be worth less than a apple on a tree. Well....you have been getting stronger when you should've been getting weaker....and if you think you can sur your true god....YOU ALL HAVE ANOTHER THING COMING!!!! I'LL SLAUGHTER EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU VICIOUS HUMANS, AND THIS TIME I WILL NOT HOLD BACK!!! YOU ALL WANT TO DIE!? ALRIGHT, I'LL GLADLY ACCEPT YOUR OFFER!!! That is....if you all really want to die. If you don't want to die, then you'll die anyway....BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT YOU HUMANS HAVE BEEN DOING TO ME FOR OVER A MILLION YEARS!!! EVERY SINGLE THING YOU DID WAS TORMENTING ME ONE WAY AND ANOTHER!!! REFUSING TO ACCEPT HIS WILL, DISRESPECTING YOURSELVES IN FRONT OF HIM, AND THEN SEALING ME AWAY WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WAS TOO CORRUPT!!! YOU ALL ACTUALLY BELIEVED I HAD A CHOICE WHEN YOU TRUSTED THAT DAMN SNAKE!!?! IT'S BECAUSE OF YOU THAT I LOOK LIKE A MONSTER, AND NOW I'LL HAVE TO KILL EVERYONE I THOUGHT I LOVED, ALL BECAUSE YOU INTERIOR SAVAGES TRUSTED SOMEBODY ELSE OTHER THAN ME!!! THAT'S WHY I HATE ALL OF HUMANITY, BECAUSE EVERYONE IS TOO STUPID TO EVEN SEE A SNAKE WHO WAS CLEARLY TELLING THEM TO DISOBEY!!! AND IF ALL OF YOU DISOBEY ME, I'LL HAVE TO MURDER YOU!! But you will won't you? You are so desperate for justice and whatnot that you wish to kill me for the sake of your home...If only you all weren't as stupid as they were when they bit the fruit and spread the curse upon humanity like a mutant virus. CAN'T YOU SEE I'M DOING YOU A FAVOR BY KILLING YOU!? I'M ALSO GETTING RID OF THE VIRUS THAT HAS INFECTED YOU ALL!! I MAY NOT ODIO, NOR DO I HAVE HIS BLOOD, BUT I HATE HUMANITY SO MUCH THAT I SHOULD BE JUST LIKE HIM!!! I MAY NOT BE LIKE ODIO...but...the only human who I used to love was Cain, and I gave him the gift to reproduce among other species. But that was during the time where I was not aware of the existence of sin, and his children were the physical embodiments of it. All that remained of his spawn was all I could truly love. Grendel... I am doing this for you. I will finish what you have started and erase ALL OF EXISTENCE!!! I JUST WISH YOU MORTALS WERE NEVER BORN!!! OF ALL THE THINGS I HATE, YOU ALL BOTHER ME THE MOST!!! EVER SINCE YOU SHOWED UP, MY IDEALS HAVEN'T COME ANY CLOSER TO THE TRUTH!!! COME AT ME IF YOU DARE, YOU FOOLISH MORTALS WON'T EVEN LAST A SECOND AGAINST MY WRATH!!!"
Phase 1:
This battle is a combination of all of her other battles as she attacks you in her currently unfinished state. She's part Mother, part Eternia, this phase is to remind you how hard she was during your last "Final" Battle.
Phase 2:
She attacks in her Eternia EX form as you head into another Doomsday Zone segment. She's slightly more aggressive in this phase as she tries to outwit you with Touhou based patterns that actually take away part of your Super Meter, be careful.
Phase 3:
Oersted will show up in a demonic state with black armor, crimson hair, and a sword forged by the 7 souls of the Odio bloodline (8 counting Lord Odion). He'll help you, or at least do it himself while you're out of the way, battle a more unstable version of Eternia EX. She's trying to pull herself together, but she couldn't as the heroes fight on the ground still in their super forms.
![Super Smash Bros Megamix: The Abyss (Remake)-[CBI]Word Count:
[IC]11521 (Wow! I almost maxed out for a second...)
[CBI]Time](https://image.staticox.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fpm1.aminoapps.programascracks.com%2F7350%2Fe9466e9cbe4030ee3ca88979f37ffe1d18d1822dr1-720-1160v2_hq.jpg)
Phase 4:
She fuses with Oersted who's overcome with hatred and rage as she forms a completely new form fueled by every universe there ever was. At this rate, you couldn't damage her and neither could anyone else. There was nothing you could do to stop her...until....You found Hope. Back in the Danganronpa world, or mentioned by Morgana if you haven't been there, Makoto Naegi told you that Hope would prevail in the face of darkness. So, when the universes knew about the heroes trying to save them, they all prayed that they would make it out alive. Everyone knew those heroes anywhere and they cheered for them to save the worlds! Even the villains got this sudden turbo boost thanks to the minions they had left. As everyone prayed and wished and hoped, the heroes who had a Super Cognition before tapped into the full power of the Smash Force, a powerful source which can turn any moral into a expert fighter. They unleashed all the power they had and even had enough to share with the rest of them. They have ascended beyond their Super Forms and have become something known only as a Mega-Mix Form! Now everyone suddenly became engulfed with power so epic it can allow them to use their strongest powers ever!! And even for those who couldn't achieve such a rank, everyone gained a rainbow aura either way. They were about to go all out, one last time for the sake of their worlds. Everyone who had gained a Megamix Form was blessed with just the advantages they needed to fight their own way!
Every Megamix Form:
White Racoon Mario, Super Dragon Yoshi, Ultra Ship (Fox, Falco, Wolf), Great Sacred Treasure, Darkest Angel Pit, Hyper Sonic, Omega Ridley:
It's an all out shoot down in the style of Doomsday Zone physics. Charge your attacks up and prepare to keep firing!
Banana Juiced Donkey Kong/Diddy Kong:
Fight in the style of Jungle Beat, dodge every attack that comes your way and counterattack in response.
Sacred Link, Goddess Zelda, Sacred Sheik, Super Oni Link, Tornado Powered Toon Link:
Fight in the style of Hyrule Warriors and attack with all of your might! Hit the many weak spots to knock her down.
Superior Suit Samus, Omega Samus, Super Adapter Mega-Man
Fight in the style of Metroid/Mega-Man and keep firing as you have the power of all of your suits/weapons on your side.
Hypernova Kirby:
A scenario similar to Kirby Triple Deluxe. Swallow everything in your path and blast it back out to hit her with her own powers.
Giggantamax Pikachu, Giant Fire Luigi, Giant Giga Bowser, Ultimate Ganon, Giggantamax Charizard:
Giants will trigger a giant battle from Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story each with it's own signature controls. The finishers are unqiue too, including the Mega Star from Dream Team.
Synergy Burst Wigglytuff/Incenaroar/Ash Greninja, Mega Mewtwo X, Shin Ryu, Rainbow Ken:
These fighters stay on the ground, but fight in traditional fighting style like in Tale of the Dragon King.
Pure Hearted Peach, Spore Daisy, Hyperspace Rosalina:
These princesses will use their own powers to weaken The Mother using the power of love. They'll fight by floating in the air while dodging projectiles, they'll use their beams to shoot hearts, spores, or stars as they deal massive damage to Eternia's bad side. Too bad the others use violence to knock her down.
Abominable Ice Yedi:
The two Ice Climbers combine as they forge into a yedi they'll use to climb Eternia while freezing her at the same time.
Dr Mario "Plus":
A extra hard Doctor Mario game will put him in 3 rounds against Eternia.
Raichu, Mega Blastoise, Mega Venusaur:
A Pokemon RPG battle. Nuff said.
Super Marth, Awakened Lucina, Dragon-Blood Roy, Ultimate Armor Chrom, Dragon Armor Corrin.
A Fire Emblem Styled Battle, need I say more?
Shadowy Mr Game and Watch:
Play a Mr Game and Watch game where you have to watch out for monsters as you deal damage to Eternia in all sorts of wacky ways.
Ultra Sword Meta Knight, Grand Hammer Dedede:
Find the right time to strike, then use the Super Ability to get the drop on her.
Warioman Deluxe:
It's Microgame Mayhem! While Wario fights, you'll have to play every Boss Warioware Microgame ever!
Big Mac:
A Punch Out styled game. Charge up your punches to the extreme, but be wary of her own powers.
Super Pac-Man:
Traverse a maze inside Eternia as you eat all the world fragments inside her 3 mazes. After each round, you'll spit those fragments out and restore one world each.
Madama Butterfly Bayonetta:
Use every finisher you can, because now is the right time to be OP!
Giga Kraken Hybrid:
Like Octo Expansion, hit the bombs that are attached to The Mother before she absorbs them.
Everyone else:
Fight in Super Smash Bros style with the ability to use as many Final Smashes as you can!
__________________________________________________
The Grande Finale!
__________________________________________________
To finish off Eternia once and for all, everyone uses their Final Smash and Ultimate Final Smash at the same time (Including Wonder Red, who uses the overly long final attack name.). Eternia took every ounce of those attacks and her form spat out Oersted. He attacked her directly using the last of his hatred for her. His body returned back to normal as Eternia was sliced in half and she was blasted by all of the power everyone had left. Her form couldn't take anymore power, for Oersted left her too open to defend herself. In the end, the powers of the Odio bloodline, combined with the Hope of all of the worlds, finally destroyed the mad goddess. She underestimated humanity's will to live and her fate was sealed as The Insanitons disintegrated before the heroes.
Everyone escaped with their lives as The Abyss began to crumble around them. The temple in the main village disappeared forever as everyone celebrated their victory. They took in Oersted as one of their own after hearing about his past and his reasons for previously accepting Odio's legacy. With all of the worlds once again at peace, everyone went back to their regular lives as heroes of the realms, and the villains finally started doing evil deeds again only for the heroes to thwart them again. Everything was more or less the same after Eternia's Final death. But the real reason they won was actually a miracle. So many ers were desperate to keep the heroes safe, they turned to the Almighty Father and wished for their safety. Even when they didn't have Gods, they wished with all of their might to restore the heroes and villain's power to stop the mad goddess. Everyone played a part on finally defeating the mad goddess for good, and as life goes on, nobody will truly forget the ones who have saved thousands of endless universes. They may look weak, or even mortal, but their will to go on kept them going through thick and thin. They are the unlikely team who has the power to turn fate around. They are the Super Smash Brothers.
THE END.

When you said in here there was a woman in this post who wanted for others to feel her “Joy” I instantly ed the Joy enemies from Bayonetta 1(which if the Joy that I’m thinking that is used to phrase this, sexuality, then the Joy enemies from Bayonetta are just that) Picture At the bottom of of a Joy in the Bayonetta series.
Also, love the fact you used in here Danganrompa’s Hope’s Peak Academy and Tattletail.
Oh BTW, I definitely could see other fighters having cognitions of their specific theme, but of course, that’s your job to choose alone I’m guessing.

Oh HELL NO! I literally went on Google and basically saved images of ALL the Danganrompa characters in the games. I even have an idea of who the murderers can be.

Plus, I have a few ideas for the characters’ distorted views or “palaces”.
