Good morning, Smash fans. It's been a while...I have an idea for a two-part blog series.
Inspired from a video made by Lockstin and Gnoggin, I am going to cover what potential types apply to fighters present in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As Lockstin covered the base roster, I'll stick to the DLC fighters.
Okeydoke. Let's begin with Fighters #1!

Piranha Plant: Grass-type
If I correctly, Lockstin talked about Plant in his video, but I'll cover him anyway due to him being the first DLC fighter.
As a Venus Flytrap plant...it makes perfect sense for Piranha Plant to be a pure Grass-type. He can potentially learn moves of other types, such as Steel (Ptooie), Poison (Poison Breath), and Flying (Piranhacopter), but the plant itself would simply be Grass-type.

Joker: Normal/Psychic-type
As for the first proper Fighters character...I think that Normal and Psychic is a good combination.
From my research, Joker (or rather Ren Amamiya) is an average high school kid in his downtime. Where the Psychic type kicks in is his connection with Arséne. Plus, Joker enters a dimension known as the Cognitive World in Persona 5...sounds very mystical to me.
I suppose that some of Arséne's moves can be Dark-type as well.

Hero: Normal/Steel-type
Lockstin and Gnoggin explained that swordfighters in Smash would be Steel-type due to their blade attacks. For the secondary type, I think that Normal would apply.
The Luminary, from what little I know, seems to be a normal citizen that goes on a grand adventure. He's not like Link, who has some elven fairy magic...that said, his Command Selection offers a taste of almost every type.
Now, some of the alternate costumes for Hero are said to have some dragon-like traits. The type combo is based on the default costume, as the alts play exactly the same within Smash.

Banjo-Kazooie: Normal/Flying-type
Moving on to characters I'm a bit more familiar with...Banjo and Kazooie would fit into the Normal/Flying combo.
The reason is very simple: Banjo is basically a normal, well-mannered brown bear. Okay, he's a bit more cartoony and silly, but he's a simple guy. Kazooie, meanwhile, is a red-crested breegull bird that can fly. She specializes in running and can use a variety of moves to assist Banjo.

Terry: Fighting-type
Terry Bogard comes from the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series of fighting games. Therefore, the Fighting-type is self-explanatory.
I was considering Fire as a second type for him; Terry does have quite a few moves with flashy flame particles, but none actually use the fire effect. Moreover, a lot of his normals are styled after kickboxing.
So...yeah. Pure Fighting-type for Terry.

Byleth: Steel/Psychic-type
Professor Byleth. I had a bit of trouble coming up with a type for them.
Steel works due to them using the Sword of the Creator. Byleth can also use weapons such as a bow and axe, which continue the typing.
I hear that they have a deep connection with the goddess Sothis, which sounds akin to the Psychic-type. In fact, I think Byleth are considered to be demigods themselves. That makes sense, even though Byleth's moves in Smash are more themed after steel.
And there we go! Pokémon types for each of Fighters 1. Next time, I will do the six characters of Fighters 2. Depending on my schedule, that might be up later today or tomorrow.
Thanks for reading!

To me, the Plant would be Grass/Poison and Joker would be Normal/Dark, because Arsene’s primary element is Curse
If Soundwave, Waspinator and Shockwave were fighters, Soundwave would be Steel/Psychic/Fighter and Waspinator would be Steel/Bug/Flying, and Shockwave would be Steel/Fighter
