Which usually makes them butt heads as Maya feels the need to take on a strict paternal role for Mio, leading to overreacting over smaller things. Maya works hard to try and make Mio open up, but it's not easy, and Maya only worsens Mio's memories of her parents, making the two's have awkward tension.

The garland and the pinecone thyrsus are Dionysus' traditional symbols while the colorful pattern on his entire body can be interpreted in two ways. The first one is the body paint which symbolizes the revelry of Bacchanalia (wine festival). The other thing that links to that body paint is the colorful patterns of all kinds of alcohol when magnified under a microscope.

Mio has an idealistic thought process which leads her into at least trying everything (which she usually fails, but when she does succeed they add to helping her improve herself. Like guitar), she's also fairly empathetic able to relate, understand, and most importantly listen to people's problem with her best help she can offer, finally she just has good adaptability.

On the lightest note Mio is fairly clumsy and often falls flat on her face.. otherwise Mio has a strong tendency to keep to herself to the point she locks herself out of potential gains in her life until pressed, finally she has a noticeable anxiety around people especially with crowds she freezes up and becomes utterly useless and flustered. Either playing it off with horrible jokes, or flight, as in leaving the scene.

Mio's dad was beams of social prowess, often going to parties, having friends over, and loved a bottle of wine or sake every Friday. Mio being their only daughter adopted these traits, except the alcohol part, but after the parties ended and the daddo was home alone, he always seemed drained.. out of it, Mio would try to cheer him up with what she learned from him, and it got him to smile, but it was fake smiles. A coping mechanism do an underlying emotion that he couldn't find a way to cure.

Eventually Mio came home after her last day at middle school, hoping to celebrate because of how happy she was about it. Just to find EMS taking her dad out the home, who would die shortly after. Mio sat quietly in the hospital room, losing her energetic and social personality during a year or two of foster care, for lack of a better word resetting her character under a new mask as a loner and a loser in order to avoid getting close to anyone ever again, making sure people left her alone.

Luckily one day, her aunt came to pick her up and give Mio a new life! Mio doesn't like her aunt very much, as she reminds her too much of her dad due to her shared trait of joy, and the strong addiction to have fun while avoiding boredom, though after all this was family, except her aunt wasn't hiding under a happy facade to drown out sadness, she genuinely was a happy person and before she drops Mio off at the apartment she leaves with: "The only person building the vines on your tomb is you. Instead, try growing grapes on it!" Her aunt said with a smile before giving Mio the key, and leaving to wherever her aunt goes as well as to give Mio a chance to get accustomed to her new home, forcing her to confront the apartment owner, a big scary-looking man who turns out to be a big joker and a smoker.
