Mili Says: “Despite my dislike for the Octarians, the NA localization is unfaithful, and can therefore not be relied upon when discussing Splatoon Lore. Due to the way that the Japanese language is uniquely structured (IE writing system divided into 3 different syllabary systems that communicate their own tone and meaning), it presents a difficult task for the NA localization team to correctly translate the words whilst maintaining their meaning into Latin script languages such as English. This results in translation errors which spreads throughout NA and EU Splatoon communities where common misconceptions such as the Octarians being hypnotized and Tartar’s opinions on humans emerge. Some people expect the NA translation to be **a translation** instead of a generalization of the text with sacrifices to accuracy for flair and looks. Also, Cuttlefish is not racist.”
