I literally cannot express through words how much I L O V E this big ol’ sweetheart - just eeeee its tsumo wrestler design is so c u u u t e in contrast to the timid little eyes quietly peeking out at the world ( > u < )

those special squeaks it’s feet make when it slowly wanders the bathhouse floors hehee

(“it”, cuz I don’t wanna assume gender ♡) so of course I had to make a character design (*☻-☻*)

I may or may not be a little obsessed with beanies tehee- but anyway, the radish spirit has a red upturned sake bowl on his head and I thought a red beanie would work pretty darn well as a casual replacement > u <

oversized clothes- another of my favourites tehe XD but that’s not why I drew them like this... I thought it would be a good way to give them that plump snuggly radish spirit shape (๑>◡<๑)

part of the original radish spirit design is its adorable and minimalistic etchū fundoshi, and even though they’re completely different it gives me the same vibes as dungarees with the way that it kinda hangs from little straps so that’s what I drew XD oh and I filled the pockets with little radish leaves hehe

when I drew these guys I tried to give them a slightly shyer expression...

I think they’d be soft, quiet and silently kind; the type to show they’re personality and character through actions more than words in the same understated way the radish spirit helps Chihiro in the film (*´꒳`*)

originally I was going to make this post with kodamas and susuwatari bUt- hehe well I decided to change things up with some slightly less mainstream characters ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

these lil yellow flooooffyyyy spirits are just- t o o o o   a d o r a b l e e e e (> v <) with their really simple design in comparison to all the other mind boggling spirits that fill the bathhouse, they seem to rlly stand out hehe

Honestly I think each bathhouse spirit is v unique and there should be a mini movie about every single one ù v ú ♡

umm... well the way that so many of this spirit all visit the bathhouse together and wash as a group sorta reminds me of a school trip so I gave her a classic pleated skirt, high socks, shirt and well I guess a bit of a “preppy” look hehe XD

in one of the scenes these little duckies have flat totoro style leaves on their head and to me berets look just like the hat form of them, the pom-pom similar to the leaf’s stalk (＞＜)

well obviously one of the key features of this spirit is how flufffffyyyyyy they are (๑>◡<๑) so I gave her a big soft cuddly fleece

although you don’t see all that much of this spirit in the film, in the moments that you do they all seem super cheerful and chirpy ( ´ ▽ ` )

so I think she’d be a bright, social and excitable kinda of character that finds it easy to talk with everyone- and maybe a bit of an airhead hehe. She’d be the type that bonds and blends in well with big groups of people like all those other preppy school girl ducks XDD

This mononoke character... I think it’s one of the most weird and wonderful beings to have ever been animated XD I don’t think I’ve ever drawn it, and when I was younger it gave me nightmares OvO ,so... time to draw the almighty creature ù v ú

Even though it’s called the forest spirit, i think it’s technically classed as a deity or god of life and death but ah well- _(˘⌣˘)ʃ

I decided to give him a blue kimono patterned with the symbols of his nightwalker state (when his head is still attached XD) because... well the traditional and cultural style seems to match up with the characters concept and power

obviously in the film we see the way he gives and takes life through plants... so I tried to incorporate it into my drawing, winding them round the katana (but still sticking to the colour scheme otherwise I’d cover everything in green leaves XD)

tbh I think I kinda unintentionally ended up giving him a mullet haha XDD but the idea was to make it long and a little “shaggy” similar to the flowing fur in his deer state

I mean... this deity must have used to scared me for a reason XD... I think it was the unreadable honesty and power behind those bold eyes OvO XDD

hehe so as a human I think he’d kinda “resonate” power, the type of person who’s presence can change the atmosphere in the room. While maybe a little intimidating, he’d be wise, graceful and fair cuz being the god of life and death comes with massive responsibility and the fact he managed to keep the forest in balance for so long in the film is clearly a key part of his character > v <
