No one is talking about this on Amino today but Taylor released her first single "Tim McGraw" 17 years ago today and started her career as a country artist. Every year on this day, I would start thinking about how I became a Swiftie. I ed the fandom late, and I discovered Taylor's music through mostly YouTube in my high school years. It was during late 1989 era, but I was super interested in Fearless and Speak Now. I didn't really have a personal live back then. Everything was about school works, and I was super isolated from my peers.(I might have mentioned them in earlier posts). Listening to Taylor's music was the only entertainment I had. Not only that, it was my personal life. Despite been a teenager, I knew nothing about been a teenager or a human in general, and Taylor's songs tells narratives that create the window for me to peek through and see the world Outside of the tiny box (figuratively of course) that I lived in. I had only heard about darkest side of the outside, and it was through that window, I learned about kindness, hope, human emotions, and human interactions. Things I never knew existed let alone understand. Anyway, although I ed the fandom late, I cannot believe it has been 17 years. Time really flies. "Hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you!"
Ironically today is also the day Taylor was rejected by RCA and had a good feeling about performing at the Blue Bird Cafe.
