7:00 am

Taylor held the small grey cat in her arms, softly scratching the fur right behind Meredith's right ear. She leaned back against the kitchen counter, feeling the cool tile against her bare thigh, as she chewed on her lip thoughtfully. Sunlight seeped through the open drapes, creating sun beams that danced through the kitchen. Sweeping her hair out of her face, the tall woman wandered over to her phone, immediately clicking open social media.

The sound of padding feet made her look up, and her eyes met Joe's. He leaned against the door frame, his blonde hair disheveled from the pillow it recently laid upon, and yawned. Joe raised an arm and scratched his stomach, his shirt ri to show his mid drift. Then his eyes narrowed in on the phone in Taylor's hand.

He didnt say anything, but Joe firmly believed Taylor would be a hell of a lot happier without the constant knowledge of what everyone was saying about her. However, he ignored the annoyance he felt towards the phone, and walked over to Taylor, softly placing a kiss on her forehead.

"Morning," he spoke in his deep voice.

Taylor breathed in happily. "Good morning."

The posture of the young couple was relaxed as the vibration from the moving car rocked them back and forth. The hoods covering their faces kept their pink tinted ears warm, as well as bringing them both a sense of security from the outside.

Joe moved a large hand onto Taylor's thigh and leaned his shoulder onto hers, turning so his mouth was close to her ear. His voice tickled her cheek as he spoke, the hot breath sending shivers down her spine.

"Can I borrow your phone, love?"

How could such an unremarkable comment make her feel so warm inside? The affect he had over her was like something out a horror movie. She felt so possessed, and yet so unworried for what they would become.

She slid her phone into his hand and smiled, just as the car stopped. They were already outside. Taylor peered out of the tinted window and felt the disappoint settle in her stomach. She was never alone.

The door opened for them, and Joe immediately gripped onto Taylor's arm as he pulled her through the crowds of paparazzi. He held her protectively close as he slowly slipped her phone into his pocket, hoping she wouldn't notice.

9:00 pm

Taylor plucked at the strings, the soft hum from the guitar drifting over the sound of the TV. Joe laid sprawled out across the couch, his head in Taylor's lap, eyes glued to the screen. There was silence between them, before Taylor gave a frustrated growl and dropped her guitar to the floor.

"Hell's Kitchen is not inspiring any music from me," she complained, laying back against the pillow.

"Are you telling me," Joe says shocked, "that Gordon Ramsay isn't a turn on for you? Wow....you and I are very different." She swatted him with the sleeve of her sweater, rolling her eyes.

"Although," Joe says again thoughtfully, "they do say opposites attract."

"Well then it's a good thing you and Gordon aren't very similar," Taylor smiled, leaning over his head so that her blonde hair tickled the sides of his face like a curtain.

"Oh yes, I do think him and I will be very happy together."

"Invite me to the wedding. I'd make a damn good best man for you," Taylor says, sitting up. "Hey, do you still have my phone?"

Joe nodded silently, pulling it out of his jean pocket, and handed it to her, preparing himself for what was to come.

9:15pm

"What the hell Joseph?" Taylor says, anger shaking her voice as she stares at her phone.

"I thought it would be good for you--"

"Who are you to decide what apps I have and what apps I dont have--"

"Like a cleanse, come on, you need change--"

"Instagram, Twitter and --"

"You dont need those apps constantly telling you what people think of you, you need time to just be with you!!"

"You are my boyfriend, you're not the boss of me--"

"Well obviously," Joe laughs bitterly. "But I can see what you need, and what you dont need in your life. Everybody can!"

Taylor grasped her phone tightly with frustration, looking down at the carpet her bare feet stood upon. She gave a huff and turned, muttering a "good night" to Joe before heading upstairs.

7:00 am

(the next day)

Light filtered through the window. Taylor fluttered her eyelids open, feeling the warm sun against her face. She shifted in the bed, heaving the blanket higher up her shoulder. Heavy breathing brought Joe's sleeping frame to her attention, his pajama clad body spread next to her on her right.

She sighed, her eyes fixating on the phone on her nightstand. Picking up the iPhone, she clicked the on button. Her lockscreen appeared instantly. It was a photo taken not too long ago. It showed Taylor's flushed face pointed at the camera, her eyes full of laughter as Joe kissed her cheek, his arms wrapped around her in an intense bear hug.

Taylor swallowed, sitting up against the pillow. She felt something in the pit of her stomach. Love? Fear? Guilt? She wasnt sure. She just knew she had to get the phone out of her hand.

Him. That's what was important. Why had she been so addicted to something as toxic as social media? She hadn't been present in life. She hadn't been present with him.

Taylor tried to ignore the itch she felt to add her apps back when she turned to Joe and saw that he was watching her. Her heart gave a little jolt, and she blinked at him, showing no emotion.

"Are you still mad at me?" he asked innocently in his groggy morning voice.

Taylor thought for a moment. She needed to escape. She needed to escape with him. And her phone would only drag her down lower into a pit of uncertainty.

"On the contrary," she finally spoke, reaching out to ruffle his dirty blonde hair. "Thank you. For well....thank you."

Joe instantly smiled, pulling Taylor closer to him. She felt his warm skin, and smelled his familiar scent of mint toothpaste. Holding her breath, she slowly released the words that bad been in the back of her mind.

"Would you run away with me?"

Joe answered without a second of hesitation.

"Yes."
