Good day everyone. Today I have another story but this time. It's for the #creativeclub. Just a short story. Lucerys on a peaceful flight with Arrax only to be interrupted by some pirates on his way to Driftmark from Dragonstone. This Month's theme is Freestyle.

The rush of wind, the smell of sea salt. A small dragon diving from the clouds towards the sea's surface. Picking up speed as it went. The white scales gleamed in the blistering sunlight. As it extended his wings, slowly it's downward momentum as the claws of the beast skimmed the surface of the water. Kicking up a spray. The young rider’s grip tight on the reins.

Prince Lucerys Velaryon had decided he was going out on his dragon, Arrax, early that morning and left without another word. A way to clear his mind and he wished to go see his Grandsire on Driftmark. He had to learn how to be Lord of Driftmark at some point. His Mother would surely understand that. As he pulled back slightly on the reins. Arrax flew slightly higher into the sky. Slowly down and gliding a little as he leveled out. Luke would loosen his grip on the reins as he looked around. It was so.. Peaceful. This is what freedom felt like. Flying through the skies of Westeros without any worry of his mind.

Hearing the waves below him. The smell of sea salt filling his nostrils. He let out a gentle sigh as Arrax continued forwards. Looking around. A few ships in the distance but there was very little to see. There was no responsibility out here.. For now. In the distance he spotted a ship flying the Velaryon sigil. It meant he was getting close to Driftmark but he then saw something that worried him.

A somewhat larger ship. Flying no colours or sigils. Corlys had taught him about Pirates and how.. Rash they were. These had to be pirates and his suspicions were confirmed when an arrow narrowly missed himself and his dragon. Lucerys quickly gripped the reins again. “Lykiri” the young rider would say before pulling them to one side as he sent Arrax into a dive towards the ship.

The Velaryon ship had noticed this and was now moving to Lucerys against the pirates. Arrows began to fly from both ships as the Velaryon prince grew closer. Yelling a command to his dragon “Dracarys!” as the Dragon's maw opened, an all too distinct sound was heard as the column of dragonsfire rained down on the pirates ship below. Lucerys could hear the horrified screams of those caught in the flames. The ship caught alight easily. The sails burned as the wood creaked. The fire worked its way through the ship as wood began to splinter under the heat. The pirates tried to fight it but Lucerys came around for another with Arrax. More fire rained down on the ship and that seemed to be the end of it. The masts began to collapse as some pirates jumped overboard.

The ship began to slip lower into the water as the ship was soon submerged below the waves. A small victory. Lucerys flew off towards Driftmark before the ship had even fully submerged. The smoke still bellowed from the parts of the ship that had yet to submerge. He had no idea why they were this far from their usual territory. It was rather worrying. He would definitely have to bring this up with his Grandsire when he got to Driftmark.
